Malley's used to be my favorite chocolate. I tend to always purchase the same items--Billybobs, and…read morea variety of the chocolate bars. I rarely visit any of the Malley's stores on a regular basis because none were nearby... Maybe that is why I craved my favorite Billybobs so much. Fast forward many years, I visited this store to get my usual Billybobs, chocolate almond bar, and chocolate bar with pretzels. Not sure if my tastebuds have changed, or their chocolate recipe has changed, but I was not crazy about the chocolate. Plus, the pretzel chocolate bar, the pretzel was a tad too salty Compared to some of the other chocolate brands that I have been eating lately (one is chocolate bar from Aldi), these other chocolates are 100% better tasting than Malley's. These other chocolates are creamier, taste more expensive, and for less price than Malley's. I have to say, I will no longer crave Malley's chocolate, especially since I can get other brands that taste better and not so expensive. Also I noticed that Malley's chocolate bars are smaller than I remember.. The positives: excellent customer service, and the store is always bright, clean and inviting!

Buckeyes here are okay, but not the best in northeast Ohio. I also love the sugared grapefruit candies. They are soooo good. I could eat a million of them. This is a relatively small storefront, but the one in Lakewood is the real deal. I especially love the locations that have an ice cream counter. Their hot fudge is delicious. In fact my mouth is watering right now, just thinking about a turtle sundaes with toppings from Malley's. Yummmmmmmm

I had never really heard much about the food, but I found it to be pretty delicious. It's not a cheap dinner by any stretch and this is more of a special-occasion type of venue. It was my birthday and though I don't really like to celebrate (or admit to) my birthday anymore, it was a nice place to try. My family, party of six, was seated in a room upstairs by ourselves. Cool little private dining alcove, painted with dark walls and sexy, almost what I would consider Halloweenesque, decor. Yessss, now they are singing my SONG. Service was good. Don't expect to get bread or any added extras with your meal. Pretty straightforward. We did try a couple of their specialty cocktails. The "Black Moon Rising" cocktail was a fun novelty, served in a skull-shaped mug, but it was a little sweet for my taste. The "Fashionably Late" was solid (similar to an old fashioned). Many things on the menu did seem to have a degree of spiciness, and it is not really a place that children would find something that they love. My son had the portobello mushrooms, which were okayyyyy, but very garlicky and peppery for a five year old's taste. I had the lemon shrimp and rice, which was just delicious. I loved it. My son liked that too and I think he probably would have enjoyed another order of that more than what he ordered. The French onion soup was hearty and good. Someone else in our party had the steak, which I tasted (yum) and the mahi mahi, which I did not get to taste, so it MUST have been good. Slice of HUGE birthday cake for dessert. Pro tip: don't order coffee with dessert. The coffee is weak and not good for $4.50 a cup. Anyhow, overall, I think it was a good dining experience, although I might make some different choices next time. Oh, and it IS allegedly haunted, but the hostess, nor the server know the details of the stories. Something about a dentist and a murder and another story about a little girl. My curiousity is piqued. Maybe a year or two ago I had reached out via email about hosting an event here for my tour company and I think my clientele would enjoy the stories and the history behind it all! Itching for more.....
