Went for their Thanksgiving buffet and overall had a really good experience. It was $35 a person, which felt fair considering the amount of food available. They had plenty to choose from; delicious chili, ham and bean soup, salad, and all the classic Thanksgiving staples like turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, and much more. Wow! What an experience. This place is a bit of a divey spot but don't let that fool you - they know exactly what they're doing when it comes to food. The interior is clean and the servers are very friendly and professional. My husband and I did a 2-for special. He got a 12oz ribeye with garlic butter and sautéed onions, I had a 10oz sirloin with garlic butter and onions, we both had large bowls of Mac and cheese, side salads, rolls with honey cinnamon butter, and a half order of crab Rangoons, with two sodas for $52. Such a good deal. Both steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked to order. The staff were very knowledgeable about the different cuts of meat. Went to dinner on Friday night November 8th we left a tip on the table 10.00 dollars didn't write a tip on our receipt where the money was taken out from my account they added another tip on my bill. How can they do this very shady. That's not ok to do. People watch your receipts. read more

Had dinner at Smitty's Steak and Ale tonight in downtown Massillon. It's in the former Sugar Bowl location. While the layout is similar, there have been many changes to the decor including a long bar in place of the candy cases. My husband and I opted for a 2 For, basically two dinners for one price and it includes a small appetizer. We were assured by our server that we would both get full dinners with two sides and he wasn't kidding. After seeing and hearing many of the sizzling steak platters being brought out of the kitchen, we both got the 10 oz strip steak. We chose (and it wasn't an easy choice) mozzarella sticks for our appetizer and they were cooked perfectly. The scaled down version of the appetizer was four mozzarella sticks instead of the normal six but were enough to whet our appetite. I picked a salad for one of my sides and it was served with rolls. The rolls were delicious, think of a certain steakhouse chain and you'd be close but these are better. They stayed soft, even after they cooled down and were served with a whipped cinnamon butter. Not too long after I finished my salad, we heard the sizzling platter heading to our table. I added mushrooms to my steak and my husband added bacon, both came with quickly melting garlic butter. The platters were very hot and kept our steaks quite warm throughout the meal. Our strips were quite good, the meat was tender and tasty. I don't know much about grades of meat so I can't say more than we enjoyed it. The mac and cheese was gooey and creamy with a broiled cheese top. The only downside to the food was maybe the french fries and by downside, I mean they weren't bad, they just didn't live up to everything else. Being too full, we brought a piece (it's a huge piece) of homemade cheesecake home and it is glorious. I was disappointed I wasn't able to have a glass of wine with my steak but was assured they are waiting a license to serve alcohol, thus the ale in their name and the long bar. Our server Adam was attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner and can't wait to return. read more

This place impressed my group of 4. Service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I ordered the sirloin medium rare and my parter got the ribeye, rare. Both steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Others in our party had the fried mushrooms and homemade crab rangoon appetizers. The mushrooms were nearly the size of mandarin oranges! Everything came to our table hot and tasted great. Also, you get a ton of food for a very reasonable price. I will definitely be back! So disappointed. Been here numerous times; food is great, service is great, experience is great. Tonight was not so great. Due to a large party, we ended up sitting at the bar. We placed our drink and appetizer order, when another couple sat down next to us. The bartender took about dinner order and then started to take care of them. We were served our drinks, appetizers, and salads all before the people next to us. However, when the food runner brought the dinners out, she said who had the medium steaks? Before we could even answer, they said we did. No one verified the orders, just gave them the food. I was immediately sure they had our meals. When the next meals were brought out, our steaks looked nothing like theirs. These were small, had a lot of fat and were gristly. My suspicions were solidified when she gave me my baked potato, I ordered butter and sour cream... this was loaded. The girl took it back to the kitchen. We did not receive our onions and mushroom, (but they were on the other steak) I had to ask twice for my baked potato and it was so cold it didn't even melt the butter. Worst meal I have ever had there. Not only was this not what I expected, I'm pretty sure it wasn't what I paid for. My only suggestion is to please verify the meals that come out for the people sitting at the bar. Nothing worse than paying for something and not getting what you ordered. We will probably be back, but not for a very long time. $75+ is pretty expensive to not enjoy your meal read more

My husband and I did the 2 for dinners. Appetizer 2 steaks two sides for one price. Steak was excellent. Only thing to remember is the steak comes out on a sizzling case iron serving plate so your steak will keep cooking a little. Don't order a well done steak. You don't have to order that. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant in my life. The bartender was good but rest of the staff was awful. When we got there we told it would be a 50 minute wait. We decided to wait at the bar and was served in a timely manor. When we went to our table we were totally ignored by the 10 member staff. They walk by on many occasions averting eye connact, so much so it was intentional. Don't know what their problem was with us. They even gathered at the back of the restaurant then walked right by us to service other tables. They need to get their act together. If they don't want to service certain people they should post it on the door. My Husband and I are in our 70's, trust me we been to many many restaurants across this country. read more
