I dig the new location :) Located in Greyline Station, it was much easier to find parking here in the large lot behind the building versus the tiny lot at the previous location. It's been exactly one year since we last visited that old location, which has since closed. Though I have many years of memories tied to that one, I'm glad to see that business didn't close entirely. We were welcomed by a super-friendly and super-helpful barista who answered any of my "what is vegan?" questions. I ordered a Sipping Chocolate made with Davao, Philippines Dark Chocolate by Askinosie. Pinay-me was curious to taste chocolate by my people. All of our drinks were made with oatmilk. Although this location is smaller than the OG location, it actually is very space-efficient with an abundant amount of tables and bar height seating. Also, a bit of outdoor seating and a few spots to sit around Greyline Station. They brought over remnants from the previous location such as board games and a collection of coffee sleeves with written messages on them. read more

1/17/26 My husband and I came to the Greyline station to spend some time as we were waiting for someone. We didn't realize that there was a farmers market happening. That was a pleasant surprise. The ambiance is very casual and welcoming. We both wanted some coffee and have never been to the chocolate holler so we came here. I had the white blossom drink and my husband had the sleeping bear. Both of our drinks were pretty good. Wish more espresso was given without extra charge but that seems like most places these days. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the drinks were tasty. Would definitely come back here when craving unique chocolatey treats. read more

We were craving something new and fun to try on New Year's Day in Lex - I had seen Chocolate Holler on Tiktok and immediately was intrigued! I can tell this place gets busy. There was already a line forming when we got there at opening. The girl running the shop looked so PO'd that I almost just wanted to leave... She was not welcoming at all and it was apparent she did not want herself or us to be there. Maybe it was the new years slump, a bad day.... I dunno. I did feel bad because she was the only one and a good amount of people to get through. Anyway, they do have some cool items on their menu. Chocolate flights, coffee, milkshakes.... Everything sounded so good! I went with the smore's milkshake and it. was. to. die. for. Giant roasted marshmallows on top, and so much chocolatey goodness. If you plan to stay a while, there is a wall full of board games and a cozy little couch you could chill on. I have only been here once so I hope the unfriendly staff encounter was just a one-off. I don't eat milk or dark chocolate so when my friends wanted to come here, I was not expecting to try anything. We came here when it opened and you can tell it's a popular spot. There were groups waiting in line to come inside so I was hoping (for the rest of my party) that they would enjoy themselves. The menu had a lot of options. I went up to the counter with my husband to order and was surprise they had white hot chocolate on the menu. Since it's the only chocolate I eat, I decided to order it. I added a hint of vanilla in it. Let me tell you, it was the best hot drink I've had. More places need white hot chocolate in their menu. Very fun place to go to if you want to hang out with friends, family, play some board games or even just work/study! I wanted to try their Dark Blossom because I love lavender, however, even though I love chocolate... does chocolate go well with lavender? Lol after speaking with the staff member at the register (who was super helpful, knowledgeable and patient), I was convinced and went for it. I got a hot Dark Blossom and it was DELICIOUS!!!!! The chocolate paired so well with the lavender, it was subtle, smooth, I enjoyed it! I also tried the Peppermint Prince and Peanut Butter Cup that my friends ordered. Very good as well but mine was better :p I really think you can't go wrong, just go with whatever flavor you like. Just watch out for parking, they only have a couple spots available, and if you're with a big group, be aware the drinks may take a little while. All in all, I'd highly recommend!! read more

Scrolling through Instagram and I landed on Chocolate Holler and their February Special - Cherry Cordial Hot Chocolate. I'm the weird person who doesn't typically go Gaga for chocolate - but cherry cordials hold a special place in my heart because they were my grandfathers favorite sweet. That flavor takes me back to sharing the candy with him over card games during my school winter holiday. This hot chocolate didn't disappoint! It's a mix of both milk and white chocolate, and the Cherry syrup is superb. It's the perfect balance of sweetness and didn't have the overly cloying sugary taste you sometimes get from drinks like there. 10/10 for me! Bonus - the staff was really fantastic and walked me through how they make their drinks! Hot chocolate flights! That's all you need to know, whether or not this place is for you. If you like/love hot chocolate then this place is for you. I happen to love chocolate so it was love at first sip. We tried the daily flight selections, which the barista guided us through. Recommended that we try them from dark to lite chocolate, and described each flavor. My favorite was the spicy chocolate, which was very sweet and bold and creamy. The "sleeping bear" was a nice middle ground, as it was mixed with cinnamon and nutmeg. The first one was pure melted dark chocolate and had a lovely bite to it. Next time I hope to try the chocolate Chai. Until then, I can't wait to return and study here (they're open until 9pm). Why can't Louisville have a shop like this? read more

Super fun concept - I love hot chocolate! Not sure if it was because the end of the semester was this past week at UK, but my friend and I got there ten minutes after opening and there were items sold out already. Also, online there are baked goods advertised and there was absolutely nothing there. The hot chocolate I ordered was delicious and creamy though so that was a plus! The ambiance is nice for a hangout or study session but be warned the wifi isn't very strong. The service was nice but there were only two employees behind the bar and they definitely could've used a third. read more

Ok this is THE CUTEST hot chocolate shop around. I was actually looking for a chocolatier and the gps took us here. While they do have some chocolate for sale it is definitely a hot chocolate and sipping chocolate establishment. It looked like a college hang out as no one was there over the age of 22 BESIDES US OLD BIRDS. I can see coming here to meet up with friends or dub if you just love hot chocolate. I got the Oreo cookie hot chocolate. While the flavor wasn't super pronounce, I still drink it as it was cold outside and it was something hot to drink. The shop is small so it can be difficult to find a seat but we lucked out as a couple left right as we came in. Seemingly primarily a hot chocolate shop and cafe. I considered a flight of sipping chocolate, but their seats were all full so I didn't want to mess with that and just got a single beverage. My chocolate mint delivered heavily on the mint, delivering a sinus-clearing menthol breeze. Oat milk was available, and honestly I didn't check the math to see whether they charged me more for that. The size was good for a medium. Notably, they had a "pay it forward" table with drink cozies indicating someone else prepurchased a beverage and wrote and intended recipient on it. A few of them were specific names, but many were for categories like "ICU nurse" or "Psychiatry Resident". I did not see any that I could plausibly claim for me, but I certainly didn't mind paying my own way for a tasty hot chocolate. read more

Adorable hot chocolate shop! Super friendly and welcoming staff. I had the Honey Bear with a shot of espresso and it was delicious. They clearly use quality ingredients - everything tasted so good. The man making the drinks is great - very kind and makes each drink carefully. Mine was so pretty with the whip cream on top sprinkled with cinnamon. I went right when they opened and, after checking out their website, was excited to try something off their food menu. Sadly - no food in sight except for a few bananas and brownies. I was meeting w a friend from church and didn't have time to take pics. Will add some after my next visit cuz I am definitely going back!! Having never been here, I asked the person behind the counter what was her favorite drink and she explained a few so I ended up ordering a medium(for here) cookie dough hot chocolate. It was served in a huge mug right to the table we picked in the corner. It was phenomenal! I can see why it is a favorite. The hot chocolate was creamy and chocolatey. There was a thick whipped cream sitting on top that will definitely give you a mustache so heads up you'll need a napkin. The inside isn't super clean looking, it's kinda dingy but I think that might be intentional. There are tables nicely spaced out and a huge selection of board games to peruse. I recently was in Boston, where our walking tour guide recommended us to go to the #2 ranked hot chocolate in the world (L.A. Burdick), which was overrated. This place is better. Chocolate Holler has the most amazing chocolate, hot chocolate, service and vibe. I have yet to try the coffee, but the hot chocolate is a must try. Considering it's the only place you can even buy hot chocolate in Lexington besides Starbucks, they don't even need to be that good. They are much, much better though. read more

Chocolate holler was the highlight of our visit to Lexington. The chocolate flight was delicious highly recommended! I highly recommend spicy maya rich dark chocolate with a hint of cinnamon. I also loved the 70% dark chocolate it was tasty. The 50% Taza chili chocolate was nice and spicy has a kick if you do not like spice stick with spicy maya. The staff was very friendly, the store has very limited seating. 10/10 would recommend we will be back. Hopefully, post covid the store has such a cozy vibe wish we could've stayed longer. read more

Was my go-to for a bit when I worked over there. The coffee itself is pretty solid, and the chocolate sippers are VERY good. I am not a chocolate person and there was plenty of offerings otherwise. Food is okay, like very okay. Baristas are friendly, but its clear who the owner is because they are VERY friendly (not complaining at all). Loved coming here when I lived close by. Really neat place to satisfy your sweet tooth or get your caffeine fix! The menu includes coffee drinks as well as hot chocolate and sipping chocolate. I tried a sipping chocolate flight. For $8 you get to sample 3 generous sized tastes of sipping chocolates. I choose #3, #5, #7, I cant remember the names but they were recommended by the guy at the counter. 7 was my favorite, with cinnamony flavors and just so creamy and delicious. This is such a neat little coffee, hot chocolate, and study space. It was easy to find and they both parking in the front and back of the building. Being the indecisive person that I am, I decided to get the flight with the 1. askinosie, 2. Ritual, and 3. chuao (delicious). My favorites is that order in reverse haha. The chuao is your typical milky milk chocolate and man does it taste like nostalgia. It was wonderful drinking this as the weather is starting to get colder. The Ritual was okay and the Askinosie was a little hard for me to drink (really bitter, but that's typical with higher chocolate percentage). The staff was suuuper nice too and I really enjoyed the vibes. If I was a student at UK, I would definitely study here! read more

No words for my love of this place. All of the drinks I've tried are rich, flavourful, and unique. Additionally, they have done a wonderful job hiring baristas who are the friendliest humans. They always ask, "How are you? You doing anything cool today?" This generosity extends to their wall of drink protectors where one can leave a free drink coupon for a friend or stranger. This was my first visit to Chocolate Hollar. It had the same chill vibe as A Cup of Commonwealth--it even offered the pay it forward program. When I first entered, there was one other couple in the building: the both had service dogs. Yeah, this place is also dog friendly. After speaking with the couple from a safe distance and greeting their sweet dogs, I approached the barista. She very patiently waited for us to finish talking and didn't seem bothered at all. Again, I was loving the chill atmosphere. The barista was very patient with me as I familiarized myself with the menu. I inquired about allergens to avoid. She was very knowledgeable and made some suggestions. We discussed oat or coconut milk hot chocolate and which we preferred. Having soy and dairy (and other) allergies, it was nice to have options. I went with the Del Sol hot chocolate with coconut milk. I did not add any sweetener, so it was pleasantly hot and bitter. This really hit the spot for me!
