a display of chocolates and candy

I've been meaning to check out this chocolate shop for a while, but based on other reviews I was pretty sure it wouldn't really be my kind of place. I was right. It smells pretty amazing when you first walk in because they are making caramel. That seems to be their specialty, and one of the few things they actually make there. They have a lot of novelty candy, along with molded chocolate in various shapes (a lot Utah themed). What is the point of paying a couple dollars for a chocolate moose that is less chocolate than a candy bar, and the same quality as a Hershey bar? No thanks. They did have some truffles that I'm guessing they might make there, but they were in a case that was backed up against a wall, and it looked like nobody ever opened it, so I didn't feel very excited to try one of those. They also didn't seem to have anything in dark chocolate (believe me, I looked!), unless they maybe had some in those questionable truffles. I bought a caramel apple (rodeo) and a prepackaged mint truffle. I don't know why I ordered the truffle because it was milk chocolate and it was just not very good. Also I am guessing they don't make it there because of the way it was packaged, but I could be wrong. The caramel apple was fine. The apple could have been a bit bigger. The caramel was pretty good, but not amazing. It was very soft, and didn't have a lot of flavor beyond the just straight sweet flavor of caramel. I like it when caramel has a little more color, and is actually caramelized. They do get props for using all natural ingredients in the caramel, though. I paid a little over $6.00 for both, so price is average, I'd say. The service was very good. They had a bit of a line when I first came in, and the two women checking people out were quick and friendly. I do have to note that both groups in front of me bought a pound of caramel, and they both said it was for themselves, not a gift, so people obviously like the stuff!! I'd say come here for caramel if you like very traditional homemade caramel like your mom or grandma would have made. If you are looking for anything a bit different or updated I'd go elsewhere, and I wouldn't bother coming here for any other candy or chocolate.

So delicious. It has a fun Utah historical vibe. The service is good and the treats are consistently rich and yummy.

I ended up just eating the outside and junking the apple. The girl at the counter was pretty surly too which also detracted from the visit.

Attention sugar lovers! Our new meet up place is in Herriman at the Salt City Sweet Shop. Whether…read moreyou are into candy, fudge, soda, caramel apples, cotton candy or ice cream-this place has it. The selection is rather impressive. Candy takes most of us back to our childhood, so it's appropriate that the theme here is "retro." Along with candy from yesteryear, there are cool vintage looking signs and knick knacks for collectors. There are also tons of glass bottles of soda-the kind that you probably grew up drinking, or wish you had. Leatherby's ice cream (arguably the best out there) is served here as well. Want chocolate? Yup, plenty of decadent chocolates as well as a mouth-watering assortment of caramel apples. Really, there's something for everyone. If you don't find something here that you like, I would really question your level of contentment in life. I docked a star for a couple things. First, the location is tricky to get to. There's no direct access from the road, you have to maneuver around the building and enter from the side opposite the main road. It appears that another entrance is planned, but a temporary concrete barrier prevents it from being used until it's fully developed. So that's a challenge-one that will be resolved as the area grows and fills in. The other challenge was the customer service. There were two young ladies working there and neither of them greeting us when we entered. (It's a small enough space, and we were the only customers. It just felt awkward to walk in and start browsing while she just watched us.) When we checked out, I attempted friendly small talk and it fell flat. She wasn't rude, just not the friendly personality I'd hope to find in a local, small business. Otherwise, it's a great place and I'm sure my sweet tooth will guide me back again!

Before your basket is full, you have to stop by the deli counter and order yourself a sandwich. I had #11, the bread was hot pressed croissant panini, but it's savory and a hint of sweet. I can't wait to try the others. Mine comes with fresh mozzarella, cooked spinach, pesto sauce and more... you'll have to try it.

You may want to keep your credit cards and cash at home so you will not blow it all in one visit, there's so much that will tempt you to buy. Employees are very proud of their store and they are very helpful. The prices were surprisingly very reasonable and from what I could tell, not any more than what you would find in other stores. I thought that they would have jacked up the prices, particularly on the international items, but everything is priced reasonably. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Kimmie is as sweet as they come - she makes you feel like she's your long-lost aunt who welcomes you to her shop and can/will make any candy/chocolate concoction your heart desires, she really is "YOUR personal kandy maker". Upon entering her lovely shop, she has a table full of samples that she offers you to see what you like or gravitate to. I've had the privilege of tasting her salted caramels - they are to die for! A MUST have! My favorites so far: salted caramels, milk chocolate roasted almonds bark with buttery vanilla caramels, freeze-dried taffy (I had no idea till I tried hers that I liked freeze-dried taffy!). Recently, I requested her to make: Almond chocolate nougat and buttery vanilla caramel, and homemade marshmallows. It was so good! Kimmie is mostly an online business but she sometimes holds an open house so you can come and see her candy shop in person and try samples!
