This isn't even my vet, but my pup dug a hole under the 6' privacy fence and took off. Within the hour, I was notified by both Petfinder & an employee of Chittenden Veterinary Clinic. Olivia (I'm pretty sure that is her) called my phone and stated that my pup had come by her private residence. SHE WENT TO THE CLINIC ON HER DAY OFF AND RAN MY PUPS PETFINDER CHIP. They were 7 minutes from me. Within moments, I was able to get my dog back even though her collar (and Apple ID tag) was not on her. I am so grateful. I am now thinking of switching care because of the devotedness of this employee of this clinic. They were so kind and quick to respond. I was driving around shaking, imagining the worst case every alley I drove down. I am beyond thankful and will be leaving every positive comment that I can. read more

Excellent care but WAY TOO expensive since this vet was sold it's NOT THE SAME. This place is lowkey a scam! They tried to charge me OVER $1000 for a puppy spay AND $1000 FOR A MICROCHIPPING. They are taking advantage of first time pet owners, especially college students in the area that don't know any better. You can get the same quality care without pay EXORBITANT AND DOWNRIGHT MANIPULATIVE prices. The care they provide is excellent though - so if you want to waste money and you want assurance maybe you'd like it. read more

I have been going to this vet for about 4 years now and yesterday took me by surprise. I dropped off Rufus to get his teeth cleaned and when I dropped him off I specifically asked them to call me if they planned to do anything other than clean his teeth. I have trusted this place and in the past they have been great. Yesterday they pulled all of Rufus healthy front bottom teeth and didn't even have the decency to tell me until I picked him up. He is only 4 years old. In the images you can clearly see that his teeth were healthy. Pulling 6 teeth is a MAJOR dental event and informing the owner is something that is crucial. When I picked him up dr Cunningham couldn't even keep her eyes open. She appeared to be drunk and she was slurring her words. I added photos of the X-rays from a healthy dog named max that I found online and next to those are Rufus's X-rays. In the image l added with his smile you can see he had to have stitches across his bottom mouth. She claimed his teeth were falling out. If they were then they would have come out easily and not need stitching. He has been bleeding since yesterday! I'm still in disbelief that she would do this to him! She also tried to tell me that it doesn't affect his life! BS! Dr Cunningham, you have lost my business and my respect. Shame on you for doing this to an innocent being! read more

Dr. Weisel sold the clinic a few months ago. It is no longer the Chittenden Veterinary Clinic that I knew. I no longer believe the vets at Chittenden are competent and reasonable. I do not trust the new owner and part time vet. The part time vet (previously with Banfield) did not diagnose what was wrong with our cat and proposed a $600 plan of action that was totally unnecessary. The next day we took our cat to another vet that diagnosed correctly, gave us a $25 antibiotic, and in a few days our cat was well. We wasted $52 dollars with the Chittenden vet. Save your money, time, and, possibly, your pet's life. read more

After investing a lot of time and hundreds of dollars into my pet's care at Chittenden Veterinary Clinic, mind you on the recommendation of a friend - then being told they had no idea what the problem was (HELLO?!! You're the doctor of veterinary medicine - LOOK IT UP! Consult other vets?!! Look further?!!) and leaving me with a still sick animal - that is now dead - I really do not have anything good to say about this place - at all. In the end, after much more time and money, I found out that had this "vet" done a more thorough exam and merely looked in my pets mouth he would have discovered the problem. Seriously folks, it was totally obvious - spindle cell sarcoma, all over inside of his mouth. A second vet, by accident tested the wrong tissue, and missed it. The third vet did the right test and found it. With all of these months - and only getting a diagnosis a week ago, when it was way too late to treat him, the cancer was severely advanced - this "vet",Weisel, in my opinion, cheated my pet out of its life. Weisel, due to not being able to properly diagnose what the problem was - after weeks of me paying for various treatments (random attempts/drugs - guessing game - OH - except he initially inferred that maybe I had done something to injure my pet?!!! REALLY?!! How does one inflict cancer on their pet?! %#@$!@#%) then said he didn't know what else to do - got very defensive when I asked what I was supposed to do with my still sick pet? I got a dissertation about how he's (Weisel) merely a regular vet, not a specialist. Uh? Help, maybe? My pet and I trusted you - we were betrayed. What about all that money I had spent that didn't help my pet - do I get it back? If a plumber comes in and "fixes" your sink and it still leaks - do you get your money back? Heck yeh! Why doesn't that work in these instances? NO, I didn't ask him for my money back - this is an afterthought. It's small, cramped, and has semi-cleanish office/exam rooms. The parking is a nightmare, so is the neighborhood. It would seem more of a back door sort of operation. OK, not to be totally negative, the lady at the front desk, although not all that personable, was nice - so are the cats in the office. Remember, this is a veterinary "practice" - Weisel makes it all too obvious he's still "practicing" because the end result was my pets death - at the mid-point of my pets life expectancy. My little buddy, of many years, would have had a chance had we known what was wrong a lot sooner. read more

I used Chittenden Veterinary Clinic for about 10 years, and I was always happy with the service, care, and knowledge of Dr. Weisel and staff. Now that I've moved out of the area, I have a new appreciation, and I cannot recommend this clinic enough. Dr. Weisel took time to explain exactly what was happening with my dog when she had congestive heart failure and he let me listen to heart with the stethoscope! They have fair prices and staff is always respectful of cost and recommends options to save money. read more

I was referred to Chittenden Veterinary Clinic by friends who were thrilled at the care Dr. Weisel gave their cats over many years. My Maine Coon Gandalf and I definitely agree! Dr. Weisel and his staff have been both helpful and professional on several visits, including his recent neuter surgery. Every time I've arrived for an appointment, the receptionist has immediately whisked me back to a spotlessly clean exam room, and the doctor has appeared promptly. He and his staff take time to answer questions and give advice, all of which has been sound. Dr. Weisel is very thorough in his interactions, explaining why he is advising certain methods of care. I noticed that another reviewer considered this "mansplaining." I consider it professional. Moreover, the pricing is very reasonable, and they have not tried to sell me any products. Highly recommended! read more

Im surprised to see so many negative reviews since I had a very pleasant experience. Setting an appointment was easy and the receptionist was very friendly. I asked about prices and she patiently explained the costs for all the different shots. I brought my 12week old puppy for his first vet visit. The vet seemed to genuinely care about helping my puppy feel comfortable around him. He took the time to explain common puppy behavior and things to look out for. He then looked at my puppy's ears, fur, heart to make sure there was nothing wrong. At the end, he gave my puppy his two shots. This whole process took about an hour. I really appreciated how the vet seems like he actually cares about my puppy. He wasn't trying to quickly give vaccinations and get us out, but was explaining to me the whole process and getting to know my puppy. While some may say the prices here are harsh, I disagree. The checkup fee itself was close to $50, but it included the vet doing physical examinations, a stool check and we also received his first month's of flea/heartworm prevention. read more

So, the first time I went to Chittenden everything was good. Kind of more expensive than I'm used but doctor was really nice. However, they work a little differently where my dog went to get regular, yearly shots but they have an extra boost in one of the shots (I'm not a vet so don't know exact details) - basically, my pup is a rescue and has had health problems in the past and they were fully aware of this so I was worried how he would react. Long story short, my dog had a bad reaction about a week later. Crying and yelping with no one touching or even moving, he was limping on the side where the shot was and just acting in ways he never has for the 3 years I have had him. So, I call the next day to let them know and the receptionist, Jessica, was soooo rude. I called, middle of explaining how he's acting she cuts me off and says "well shot was a week ago, if he had a reaction would have been hours later." I'm sure this may be true, however SOMETHING was going on with him that wasn't for the 3 years I have had him and was on the same side of the shot. I mean I'm no vet but A+B=C. and better yet, if someone is calling in distress the best thing you can do is at least not be rude to them. You are the face of that business and as great as the doctor was I will not being going back simply b/c of how rude she was. She wouldn't even let me get a word out about booking an appointment. Instead we went to, Vet Clinic East in Columbus that gave him medication and he has been doing so well. LONG STORY SHORT SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSE WHERE read more

I've been to Chittenden Vet Clinic in the past and have been pleased with my experience. I cannot say the same of my experience today. I brought my cat in for her annual check up and was met with nothing but product placement and a condescending doctor who was more interested in mansplaining me to death than helping my cat. The assistant I spoke to, however, was kind. Needless to say, I will not be back. read more

Quite terrible. Seemed very nice and attentive at first but that's because my pets needs were very low maintenance. As soon as something actually came up that required them to do their job I was not only ignored but talked down to. I could not get a single word in with the techs or the vet due to each of their tendencies to interrupt and speak over you. My pet has allergies and they constantly fed him treats that he was allergic to - this happened over the course of multiple visits even after I explicitly told them about his allergies. They often confused me and my pet with others and almost performed a procedure on him that was for another pet. Not only did the vet not pay attention to my dogs allergies or his medical history but when I did come into the office to ask for something very straightforward - after waiting for almost an hour past our appointment time - I received a letter in the mail saying we were no longer a patient of theirs. Apparently advocating for your pet at this vet is unacceptable. read more

I used to love this place. This review is given during corona times but I see why everyone "dogs" on this business. I called for an appointment and waited a week for it to come. I show up and see a sign on the door that's says "closed return to your car and call" the line was off. After knocking I waited 20 minutes in the cold just to be told that I was only allowed to have one dog seen at a time and wasn't allowed to go in. This information would've been helpful a week ago because i would've known to try elsewhere. My pit bull will not let people cut his nails with out me holding him. All around huge waste of time. Let me know if you know a decent 614 vet read more

We adopted a new shelter cat recently and needed to get her an appointment for a checkup. After calling around and getting ridiculous wait times as long as a week later, I stumbled upon the Chittenden Veterinary Clinic. I had no problem getting an appointment for the next morning. Parking is a little confusing if you're not familiar with the area, as the alleyway leading to the lot is very small and easy to miss. It's spacious and free, though! Dr. Weisel himself if extraordinary. He was very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. We felt extremely welcome, as did our cat, who was free to roam the room during the appointment and did not hesitate to come to him when called. The prices were great, too, which is a definite bonus! We'll be back! read more

Having recently moved from the east coast we were looking for a vet for our 3 dogs and 1 cat. This was our second try, after a disappointing experience somewhere else. Dr. Weisel saw our 10 year old dog, who was quite ill and got him on the road to recovery. Something that the other vet had not done for 3x the cost of visiting Dr. Weisel. We will be bringing all our animals to the Chittenden Veterinary Clinic read more

I was hesitant at 1st, having been with Dr. Mike for so many years. But now I'm completely in. Dr. Cunningham is a great vet! Thanks

I really love Chittenden Veterinary Clinic! The prices are more than reasonable and fair. Dr. Weisel is very patient and answers each question you pose fully. He and his staff make every effort to accomodate their clients and do follow-up calls to ensure the best care possible. read more

Raven and I had a great experience at the Chittenden Veterinary Clinic today! It was our first time here and Raven just needed to get up to date with some of her vaccines. My dog is NOT a friendly dog. She's scared of any new person and will act aggressively. However, the staff were very friendly and understanding even after Raven tried to bite at Dr. McGill's legs. I left the exam room while they were giving the shots thinking that might calm Raven down. To my surprise, just a few minutes later, one of the techs brought out Raven on her leash and was even able to pet her and scratch her belly. They also gave some great suggestions for where I could get some help in training her. I would definitely come back and would recommend Chittenden Veterinary Clinic to anyone looking for a new vet! read more

Dr. Weisel and his staff are absolutely amazing. They truly care about animals and are so patient with their customers/pets. I could not have asked for a better veterinarian or veterinary staff to bring my cats to. read more

I rarely submit online reviews, but this Vet Clinic deserves it. From my first call, the staff demonstrated concern for my pet's health. Doctor Cunningham ran the proper tests to pinpoint the issue, kept me aware of the result and what they were doing, and then explained the options. I brought Classy home on Thursday and noticed immediate improvement. By Sunday, Classy was back to normal and 100%. These ladies are amazing and this clinic is my top choice. I highly recommend them. Just to be clear, there are 2 Vet Clinics located much closer to my home in NW Columbus. I understand that 5 stars is the highest, but they deserve a 10! Dr. Weisel always takes the time to explain things and is patient with answering all your questions. His knowledge and manner really puts me at ease. Never have trouble getting an appointment, wait time is minimal, prices are reasonable and everything is itemized and explained. Location and parking are actually not bad, there's a police sub station right behind the building. If you can get past that, the service is excellent. read more

We have been going here for years, and I don't think I could love a vet more. Dr. Weisel is extremely knowledgeable and always does a good job explaining your pets' issues in a way that is easy to understand. When asked for his opinion, he'll preface his answer with "if it was my dog/cat...." And I truly believe he means that. We started coming in with our pug in 2005 - and continue to patronize Chittenden Vet with our 3 other additions. If you want an awesome vet that really cares about your animals, go here. Staff is friendly as well and prices are reasonable. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience dealing with the receptionist. Very condescending, unhelpful, unfriendly, and with a bad attitude. In the end, she's going to tell you that there's no appointment when you need it. There's no way to verify if this unfriendly receptionist is actually playing you. Overall, very unpleasant experience. I'd suggest you to a vet clinic with newer facilities and friendlier staff. read more

Dr. Wiesel is wonderful! He clearly loves and cares for animals and goes out of his ways to answer all your questions. Dr. Wiesel is exceptionally knowledgable and experienced, yet is extremely compassionate and practical in his approach to treating animals. After a test or surgery, he almost always personally calls you to keep you informed and answer all your questions. I have found his fees to be significantly less than most others vets I've gone to. He was recommended by a friend five years ago, and I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Wiesel and his clinic. read more

We were referred to Chittenden by Cat Welfare to assist us with a litter of ill feral kittens. They were so helpful and caring. Since we have used their services many times for a few different cats. They have been very caring, informative, available and affordable. We are very thankful for their services and can't say enough good things about them. read more

Yay for Dr. Weisel and staff!! He took the time to answer all my questions and then some. He is also a really inexpensive vet and so close to OSU campus. My roommate recommended me to him and he really is outstanding! I'm definitely taking my kitten there for everything from now on. read more

We were referred by Cat Welfare and this vet exceeded all of our expectations! Dr Weisel is both professional and down-to-earth, on some occasions he pulled pulled out the textbooks to show us the pictures of the different possible diagnosis and explain what has happening with our cat. To be honest, I wish my personal doctor was as transparent and communicative. Especially consisting the reasonable fee, you can't so much better. read more

Dr. Michael Weisel has been taking care of our pets for over 22 years (we recently found out that our Bichon Genevieve may be his oldest patient at 17 1/2). We have felt so lucky over the years to rely on both his knowledge and his wisdom. Dr. Weisel understands that pets are individuals with their own quirks and habits. He is never quick to recommend an intrusive procedure, or tests that might provide more information but not change a treatment protocol. I have always felt that he deeply respects our animals and our attachment to them. All of his staff is wonderful (Melissa has been there as long as we have) and similarly knowledgeable and caring. This is a practice you can count on. read more

I just reviewed the reviews for this clinic. I'd like to offset Sara G.'s negative comments, and replace them with kudos. I have taken my animals to this vet clinic since 1997.This clinic has been my pets' doctor since I was barely 18, and I was inexperienced at pets and vets. Dr. Weisel has always gone the extra mile to ensure all of my pets' well-being, and he is an excellent educator for the pet parents as well. I have always had a welcoming, calm, and caring experience. They have seen us through births, and eased us through deaths. My dog Cindarellie and I moved across the country in 2003, and when we moved back in 2011, there was no contest as to whom would resume her veterinary care. During the time I was out of state, my dad had to, unfortunately, put my old dog, Pagan, to rest. Having the same, dedicated vet, whom we know and have trusted for years, made a sad time more bearable. It takes such an immense amount of trust and faith to go through that...I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Weisel, his staff, and this clinic. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I hope that anyone reading these reviews will recognize that (Sara G.) has a worrisome lack of knowledge and penchance for inflammatory words.( Who lets their cat's teeth rot out, anyway?) No one else offers a single complaint. As a medical professional (nurse), I suspect this girl might not have the necessary knowledge, insight, nor the maturity to effectively comprehend the how and why of the procedures and treatments that were done to help her (likely) neglected animal. Please ignore her one negative review, and hear the praises that the rest of us sing. This vet is something special. read more
