She knows how much I love her and has been so helpful! Dr Kyle is amazing as well! He sits on the floor to help calm her nerves and also keeps record of all the things this mommy gets paranoid about and doesn't make me feel stupid when I share what I'm worried about. (Heiderich is her vet and is the same which is why I was ecstatic to find BFV)

I took my dog in for a teeth cleaning, but she ended up having nearly $2,000 in surgery to remove all of her teeth instead. It was the right thing to do, but as you can imagine, it was extremely distressful. Afterwards I received the bill, which STILL included the cost of a "cleaning, polishing and fluoride treatment." I politely asked that the charge be removed, since her teeth were actually removed and never cleaned. Initially, they refused, saying I still owed them nearly $150 for the cleaning. I then wrote the office manager an email explaining the situation and expressing my disappointment. To her credit, she finally refunded the charge. However, during a follow up appointment, Dr. Todd Kyle had the audacity to tell me he didn't appreciate my email or my tone and abruptly tried to walk out of the exam. He didn't know the whole situation, clearly, nor had he given me the opportunity to explain my perspective. He was rude, dismissive and disrespectful. Without talking to his own staff about the situation, he decided it was his place to admonish me and tell me how I should have reacted. I refuse to let him treat me like that and would never let him treat a pet of mine again. The previous owners NEVER would have let this happen. I loved them and was an ardent advocate for them for decades. Now I'm looking for a new vet.

The first 5min…read moremy cat got behind the counter where there was a small gap between the fridge and cabinet, we had to pull out the fridge so I could crawl behind and get her. They should never have had a hole big enough for any animal to crawl behind. Bonnie (cat) had had some health issues and had been cleared by my reg vet for surgery, Dr.Robinson, said that she would call the vet just to check any issues which was reassuring but no way for me to know if this call happened. They read all of the options for spaying & assured me that the cheapest option was perfectly safe. I was talked out of extra medical assistance beside extra pain meds because they typically dont have issues with healthy young cats, they knew her previous medical issues. At 1pm I received a call from Dr. Robinson informing me that after they had put her under with the anesthetic and made the incision that Bonnie's heart stopped. She gave me the medical information and said that Bonnie was still asleep and had a breathing tube. They did not request me to come in which I assumed was an okay sign. At 2:30 Dr. Robinson called me again to let me know that Bonnie was awake and breathing on her own and that she would just like to monitor her for a few hours just in case but that I could pick her up to go home at 6pm that night. These again sounded reassuring because otherwise theyd keep her overnight, right? WRONG! When I got there they said I wouldn't have to pay anything (never a good sign).Dr. Robinson came in first without Bonnie to let me know that she was now blind and may never recover her eyesight. A small price for her life. I am told that they have no clue what the repercussions of her brain being without air for so long will be in the long run, she told me that they had not seen her walk since she woke up and that she may be "a bit wobbly" and that I "am not taking home the same cat I brought in this morning". She went and got Bonnie and brought her out in her carrier. This cat was barely responsive, her eyes rolled back in her head so that she looked dead, they assured me that was fine. I asked about food/water and she told me to monitor water in case she drowns in her bowl but that she would probably just sleep all night. Dr. said that she would like to see us back in a week for a check up (I took this as a good sign that my cat would still be alive in a week). This was the only info I received. No emergency vet info or # to call if something happened, no pain meds. Half way home Bonnie had her first of many seizures but I didn't realize what it was yet. I got Bonnie home and took her out of her carrier to realize that she was not "wobbly" but paralyzed. She peed all over the floor after trying and failing to get to the litter box as she screamed the worst scream you can imagine & flailed around on the floor. I called the vet but in the time it took me to get home they had closed. We got her situated on the floor with blankets to make her comfy and a bed on the floor for me. At around 1am she started seizing uncontrollably, I called my mom to take us to the hospital. While she was on her way I was googling open animal hospitals in the area. We raced to the MedVet where they ran tests for the next 2 hours before letting me know that there wasn't much they could do and we made the decision to put her down at 4am 12/13. Dr. Robinson didnt send me home with a blind, wobbly cat that she would see in a week, she sent me home with a paralyzed cat that could never survive the next 24hrs and would suffer the next 10 hours. She dodged my mothers calls for the next two days. We insisted they pay my MedVet bills which they quickly agreed to do, a sign they knew they messed up. I will never know if this was a freak reaction to the meds or over medication during anaesthesia but how it was handled was unforgivable.I want to prevent anyone else from having to live through this trauma, please save yourself the possible heartache and take your baby somewhere safe.

I adopted my Maltese puppy Isabelle in early December 2019, she was a very finicky eater and no matter what I tried would not eat. I had to use a syringe to get her to at least eat turkey baby food. Taking her to Muirfield for her first appointments, they instructed me to leave food out for 5 minutes and if she doesn't eat, take the food away and try later. In hindsight, I have learned this is incredibly dangerous for toy breeds as their blood sugar drops easily if they are not eating. I also felt they had judgement to where I had purchased Isabelle, Premier Pups. A couple of weeks went by with me taking her in to Muirfield to run blood tests and try to understand what was wrong with Isabelle. While I was out of town, my partner had her and she fell very ill. She pooped and vomited, cried out sounds my partner has never heard before. He ran her over to Muirfield and they instructed he take her to MedVet emergency hospital. She spent 3 nights there while they ran a variety of tests. When we got her back, she had tested positive for Giardia. When I went back to Muirfield Animal Hospital again, Dr. Mark Kurtzman convinced me Isabelle had "failure to thrive" and should be put down. He wrote the attached letter for me to share with the breeder, Premier Pups. I shared the letter with Mike the owner and he quickly went into motion to address the health concerns Isabelle was facing. He took her back, used the vet clinic originally recommended to me, Bethel Road Animal Hospital, and kept her for 2 weeks to recover. He was extremely passionate and rightly upset with Dr. Kurtzman's assessment. Happy to say there's a good ending to this story, I did not follow Dr. Kurtzman's advice to put Isabelle down. She did NOT have failure to thrive, Muirfield had failure to try everything they could before giving up on her. Isabelle is over 3 years old now, perfectly healthy and will never, ever be recommending Muirfield Animal Hospital.

They play a large role in animal charities and non profits as well. (I know this girl who had a cat who was accidentally in the dryer for close to 10 minutes. She rushed it to Noah's Arc. They saved the kitty and made this girls YEAR! Ah MAz Ing!)
