Mains: Whole Roasted Chicken with Sugar Snap Peas, Kipfler Potatoes and Tarragon & Moran Family Lamb Shoulder topped with Chermoula and served with Eggplant and Pomegranate was the perfect lunch. Dessert: Chocolate hazelnut mousse with raspberries and marble chocolate & Lemon and basil sorbet with blueberries and shards of meringue. Chiswick restaurant grounds was a perfect backdrop for a summer wedding. The rustic, elegant charm was a continual theme in the dining room and food. This was the first wedding I went to where I absolutely loved the food, it was rustic, country kitchen chic, bountiful and delicious. This is becoming an addiction. Another birthday lunch. We started with the Oysters and a glass of prosecco, 6 oysters for $30 is a bit rich but they were worth it. We then shared the Wood-fired king prawns, avocado, lime  and the Chiswick crispy duck, orange, lettuce. Both superb. For main we shared a Scotch Fillet with chips. We had a caraffe of 2017 Cullen Mangan 'Red Moon' Malbec Blend, Wilyabrup WA. Again wine prices are ridiculous. Overall its a great place with great food. We were here 12 months ago to the day and the menu is practically the same. Absolutely love this place but I think the menu needs a little revamp. read more

I learned of Chiswick thanks to that Anthony Bourdain show a few years ago...and never went. I'd like to go back in time and punch past me in the face. Chiswick is classy, delicious, and outstanding rolled into one. Service is usually an afterthought in Australia, but service was on point at Chiswick. Seriously, they know how to treat you right. We came in a group of 18 for a birthday, and everything went off without a hitch. We had the set menu at $75/person without alcohol. You can get pairings for $60 more or you can get alcohol itemised if you want as well. The farm-to-table concept is done splendidly here, everything tasted fresh and food came out promptly. The vegetables here are hella good. Everyone's favourite entree was the gnocchi. This cheesy gnocchi was so on point, I would have no qualms just ordering that by itself and again, seriously want to punch myself for not coming here earlier. The famed lamb shoulder was also delicious...as was the chicken. My only gripe is that you get so much food you can't fully enjoy everything because you get so stuffed so quickly. Shoot, everything was delicious. The best dessert was the Chiswick rocher. While everyone was thinking the pavlova would be bomb.com, it was actually the rocher. For $75 this is a great value since we had more than enough food to eat, service was excellent and it's an all around great time. read more

Yes - Chiswick is good. Perfect for a long lunch with a group of friends/ family or a cozy dinner. I love the atmosphere: garden party style véranda sitting or wooden chalet indoors, the look and Feel of the restaurant is Very remarquable and I loved it. The waiters are super nice, helpful and patient. Great service overall. We had the collective menu (80$ pp) with 9 dishes - I would not say anything stood out as absolutely amazing, but every dish is well done, well seasoned, and since there are mainly veggies in the menu you do not feel like you have eaten too much. Lot of attention to detail in the way dishes are presented which I like. Highlight of the lunch was the lamb shoulder with mint sauce - this will be remembered ! read more

I've come here on two occasions - once on on Valentine's day with my boyfriend without a booking (pleasantly surprised to get bar seating immediately which included table service!) and also once with a large group. The restaurant looks beautiful when you arrive at night - situated in a partially hidden area with a footpath leading you toward the long white venue. The first time we ordered: Oysters, scallop ceviche and steak tartare for starters Pasta with king prawn, fresh basil and tomatoes to share Pavloa for dessert All the dishes were incredible. Even the pasta, such a simple dish, tasted exquisite and unique. Steak tartare was prepared to perfection. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The second time when I came back for a large group dinner, I felt that the food was more underwhelming. I wasn't impressed with the chicken and surprisingly, they are famous for their Moran lamb which was incredibly tender but the green sauce was quite bland/creamy and I would have expected something better like chimichurri? Overall, this is a fantastic place with good ambiance, food and service. Definitely great for special occasions and out of town visitors! read more

I had an amazing experience dining at Chiswick for my birthday lunch. The service at the restaurant was great - they greeted us at the door and ensured that we were happy with our table. They also helped with recommendations of orders, and our food came out promptly. The decor and the scenery of this restaurant is also beautiful, surrounded by gardens. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The food is also delicious and fresh, with many of the vegetables being grown on site. All the dishes I have tried have been so yummy! Would definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions!! Would recommend the crispy duck, the king prawns and the Moran Family lamb shoulder. read more

A beautiful restaurant in the middle of a well maintained green garden. The ambiance is just great. The food we have were excellent. Started with chicken liver parfait, delicious, love it! The beetroot salad is tasty. The main we ordered were the famous Moran's lamb and the Snapper. The lamb, as the other reviews have mentioned it, perfect! Love the tasty minty herbs and peas, yum... and the fish is just perfectly cooked so the soft texture of the snapper is highlighted. We had pavlova with passion fruit n manggo and a scope of ice cream, did not really like the thicked cream though, but other than that it is great...would love to recommend it to you and my friends. The trek to Australia was definitely a challenge. I made a rookie mistake and forgot to get a visa. I had to whip out my phone and apply only and after the longest minutes of my life, I squeaked it out with 3 minutes before the cut off. Then there was 17 hours of flying, and once I landed I had to teach two, 3 hour seminars back to back. #nobreaks lol So the Chiswick was my first meal in about 24 hours, so I was hoping it would be as amazing as the menu sounded. It was worth the wait. :) Easy to find through an Uber, as it is located in a cute little park. Service was great and honestly one of the best meals I have had. Everything was excellent: fried spatch-cock chicken, orange crispy duck, and the lamb shoulder was amazing. Plus, the desserts were fabulous. Food amazing. Service Revolting. We dined here for lunch on Sunday to celebrate the parents 40th wedding anniversary. We were a table of 10 and had the 12 o'clock sitting. To the best of my knowledge, we were all on time. Firstly, it is my absolute pet hate, especially at a restaurant of this caliber, when plates are cleared before everyone at the table has finished eating. Not only did this happen multiple times but one waiter even took my grandmothers plate BEFORE she had even finish!! She was on the middle of a mouthful of food, fork in hand, and her plate was whisked away. Dreadful. Secondly, we were told at the time of booking that we would need to leave at 2 as our sitting was only from 12-2. We had absolutely no issue with this. On the day we were told that we were to have the set menu at $75 per head. It was all that was on offer. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the lamb - WOW WOW WOW but then......it got to 1:45 and we still had not been served out final dishes yet we were told that WE HAD TO LEAVE or MOVE to a bar like TABLE with stools . This seemed impossibly absurd to us. We were a table of 10 that included 2 prams with young babies and 84 year old Gran, there was no way this was at all feasible. Short of the long is that we were a big table with a big cheque, over $1500 (food plus wine/drinks) and we ended up being given the rest of our meals in take away containers. I really didn't want to like this place. Really. See, I read a few reviews early on in the press that slammed it, and although Mat Moran is my favourite chef, he cooks fine dining, and really well, so stick with it, ok? Don't do a Jamie and open other places just to capitalise on the name, it wont end well. And all this blathering on about family farms and stuff, I mean, come on. So with some reluctance I agreed to a Sunday lunch there today, when yum cha was what I really felt like. Humph, I says, and off we went. Well, hold the phone folks, I am a TOTAL fan of this place. Despite myself. We rocked up sans booking but right away got a seat at the communal bar table thingee. All the beautiful people had already sensibly booked tables and had the nice tabes next door but I like watching the kitchen. And the interior - doing that casual chic so well is really hard, and the designers have got it perfect. No fuss in the kitchen, a dozen staff prepare excellent food in an orderly and quiet symphony. So, we saw about a million shoulders of lamb going out and quite rightly could not resist, along with broccoli w chili and garlic, popcorn prawns (for no real good reason cept I loves them, I does) and a nice glass of rose. Pinch me, I've died and gone to heaven. Seriously, the lamb was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. The serving (it's to share) I am ashamed to admit defeated us, although not by much. Didn't even have room for desert, what a sin, but the home made dark chocolates with the tea and coffee (which by the way was also outstanding) are unreal. All this and music played on real vinyl! When the Stones came on (Gimme Shelter, 1967ish) I really did think I was in heaven, rocking away on a sh*tty Sunday, with lamb, wine and thee. On a stunning sunny afternoon, my bf and I decided to check out Matt Moran's Chriswick. Just in the nick of time too, we snagged an outdoor table just before the restaurant filled to the brim with weekend diners. Picture this: large white house surrounded by a perfectly manicured garden, dappled sunlight streaming through the trees and a gentle water feature bubbling away. Glass of white in hand, we were feeling very, very relaxed. The service was faultless. Really lovely on all counts. The food? Oh, so good. Everything we ordered was packed with flavour and there were a ton of dishes we would have loved to sample had we had the room. There was some food envy going on over the hand cut chips and steak on the next table. We ordered a mix of things. Don't mistake the menu as a naughty fried food joint, but our favs were definitely the buttermilk fried chicken with slaw, the popcorn prawns with chilli kewpie & jalapeno and the crab sliders. You know those gorgeous food shots places take of fake hamburgers? These sliders actually looked and tasted exactly how you think they should. Great buns that weren't too sweet like a brioche, nor heavy and bready. Yum. The elegant surroundings would make this an ideal venue for a date or ladies long lunch. read more

Chiswick has been a buzz word around Sydney since Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan opened their restaurant at the site of the former Pruniers in Woollahra, earlier this year. After all, with such a high pedigree, expectations were understandably high. So, does Chiswick live up to these unrealistically high expectations? In my opinion, it not only lives up to them, but it exceeds them. Named after the gardens in which the restaurant is situated, Chiswick's menu is designed to be shared, with an emphasis on seasonal produce, much of which is grown in their own kitchen garden. Whilst still retaining its original charm, the inside of the restaurant has been completely remodelled, creating an open, warm, elegant but relaxed space. The open kitchen provides the perfect opportunity to take a peak into their kitchen secrets. Take a seat at the long bar, and you just may learn a secret or two, but at the very least, you'll be enticed by the delicious plates making their way out of the kitchen. The open plan restaurant is surrounded by white pained windows and is filled with light timber tables with cute french style bistro chairs. Mr E and I dine this Tuesday evening and we choose: * Rosemary flat bread * Roasted scallops, girolle mushrooms, mushroom puree with WA shaved black truffle (a blackboard special) * Wood roasted Moran family lamb, chick peas, mint All dishes were amazing in their own right. Wow those scallops, and that lamb literally melted in your mouth! No wonder numerous people had told me the lamb was a must have. I must say, the beef, pearl onion and ale pie did catch my eye - I'll be ordering that next time! Luckily, Mr E and I had left room for dessert. We chose the Apple Tart, which was delicious and so beautifully presented. * Caramelised apple tart, vanilla ice-cream, marshmallow Not only was the food amazing, but the service was also fast efficient and knowledgeable. What more could you ask for? The restaurant is set up well for groups too, with a range of semi-private areas. They also now take reservations in their dining room - yippee! Melted in the mouth and a perfect way to start our meal. Next we ordered the famous lamb and trout to share with some sides: potato chips, garden salad and broccoli. All seasoned well and tasty. We ordered some desserts too, the stand out was the meringue - presented in a deconstructed manner - big tick! Oh sweet mammy. My wife had been to Chiswick before, for a long lunch that stretched all afternoon. She decided yesterday that I needed to experience celeb chef Matt Moran's new endeavour, so off we went for dinner. You can easily do this, since - while the tables in the lovely glass atrium dining room were all booked well in advance of the Friday night we decided to arrive - there's a long bench with high stools, permitting on the order of 30 people to rock up and get a place to eat. The menu is exactly the same. If it interests you, you can get a full view of the kitchen here. This common room is a mix of old-school butcher or fish shop (with its walls of white tiles) with rustic country pub (large, dark wooden beams above). On my wife's recommendation we shared the roasted lamb shoulder. It was fantastic, just as good as the lamb at Porteno. We had this and a side of broccoli, which was steamed just right, no mushiness at all. We couldn't come close to finishing the lamb (and since the shoulder is $56 that's probably normal for two people, but we'll get a couple of meals out of it). They're quite happy to wrap the leftovers up for you to take home, though, and - once your food's in tin foil - they give it to you in a nice little cloth carry bag, with 'Chiswick' on it. Classy doggy bag! We couldn't help trying the cheeses for dessert. They were good, with lots of bread (a common complaint of mine is having to ask for more), some nice quince paste, and grapes. The piccalilli-type preserve they had to go with the cheeses was far too overpowering, though; it subsumed all the cheeses entirely, so we left it. The wine list is pretty high-end, but I can't fault it for quality. It's helpfully broken up into "light and savory", "full and spicy", and "rich and robust" type categories. We found a great Mudgee drop we like; the markup from the vineyard's retail was 25% which I suspect is a common amount at nice restaurants. Our service was excellent: chatty, friendly, very prompt, and with suggestions. Even the toilets were great. Several little unisex rooms, well-appointed, tiled, and sporting medicine cabinets. I can imagine this would be a most excellent place to spend an entire afternoon, slowly eating and drinking your way through the daylight. Wonderful place. read more

MMmmmm. I'm thinking about the lamb. Right now. Yes. My mouth is watering. Chiswick is a beautiful restaurant, inside and out. The garden inside was beautiful, and I wish we had gotten there earlier so we could have seen it in more light. I thought the service was very good, not pretentious or rude. Now, let's get to the food. We ordered the crab sliders, pork belly, and lamb. Oh man, I was happy with every choice. The crab slider was delicious (although I could have done without the pickles! hehe). The pork belly was fantastic--perfectly crunchy on the outside. It didn't even have any crackle. It was just beautiful. But the dish that really stole the night was the lamb. We had just had lamb the night before, so we weren't really keen on ordering it. But we noticed that every table ordered the lamb, so we decided to too. I AM GLAD WE DID. The meat was freaking gorgeous. Didn't even need to cut off anything because everything fell off the bone. Such good lamb. One of our friends thought it was the best lamb she ever had. It was fantastic. This is a must order. The desserts are good too. Anthony Bourdain (my man), first introduced this spot to me... on tv, but had the opporutity to dine there twice for dinner and lunch. dinner inside and lunch outside - two different experiences. I highly RECOMMEND RESERVATIONS, both times did not make any reservations but was very lucky to get in on short notice. Food: seriously do you need to ask. everything on their menu- we licked our plates CLEAN!!! Seriously. Service: its not four seasons standards and that is what i expected if your going to spend some serious money on food, but i will be kind and give them a 5.7 out of 10. Normally I try to avoid the hype of celebrity chef backed restaurants but after seeing photos and the menu of Chiswick I couldn't resist a visit. We organised to go on a warm summer's evening and had high expectations. Would it just be riding off the name of Matt Moran and be slightly pretentious? Fortunately we weren't disappointed at all and if possible, our high expectations were exceeded. Our initial order was the crab sliders which were divine and soon followed by the Moran family lamb which was shared between two. Words can't describe how delicious the lamb was as it melted in your mouth. Both meals left us feeling more than content and was great value for the money. We both mutually agreed at the end of the meal that Chiswick was perfect. It wasn't pretentious and was living up to what it had been set up to achieve by cooking great home styled dishes with great use of produce. We're now in the process of trying to book flights back to Sydney with our first stop being at Chiswick again. Be sure to stop in and enjoy the lamb. The thing about great restaurants - they are consistently great. You know that whenever you rock up, you'll be sitting down to an awesome meal. That's what I had the first time I had the flathead fish & chips when I was introduced to Chiswick. But my next visit for a weekday lunch was a big disappointment. The fish tasted a bit off and the fries were very mediocre. Such a pity! Maybe they save their best chefs for the dinner service? I'll start this review off with, if you haven't been to Chiswick..go. This place where is amazing! I came here with 5 other people we went for Sunday lunch, we arrived a little early so we sat in the beautiful front garden under the trees surrounded by a beautiful garden and the aroma of the kitchen and the garden where a big chunk of their herbs and some produce comes from that then goes into the restaurant. The first thing you will notice when you look at the menu is in order to eat there you have to take a second mortgage out on your home.. With the cheapest main $29 and the next was $34. Once I got over that and we received the food and soaked in the beautiful restaurant especially if you sit in the sun room with a view of the garden and beautiful sunlight pouring into the room with a slight breeze from outside. We got some starters like the herb bread and pumpkin arancini which were both beautiful and fresh especially the herbs on the pizza were so aromatic and green. Main I got the pork belly which wasn't your traditional it was slow cooked but in a water bath then finished on the grill. Wasn't what I was expecting but still was fantastic! Dessert, I got the pav, yummo it was wonderful! Beautiful mango sorbet and sticky crunchy pav. Portion was huge for dessert but everything else was average size. The wait staff were very friendly and this may seem like a small thing but I absolutely loved that when the food came out they know exactly who ordered what, they didn't just yell out the name of the dish and wait for someone to claim it. They got it right every time which was so nice, that made my experience there even better. Now the only complaint I had was when ordering, the waiter was telling us about the specials and one of them was ribs 500g to share for 2 which to one of my friends was amazing. How ever ribs didn't come out a rib eye steak the size of Africa came out.. One of the two people sharing don't like rare cooked meat.. It was cooked a bit above rare. One of my friends ended up eating the steak on his own.. And finished it and the other had to order something else. When we told the waiter that read the special out to us he seemed to admit his mistake and it sounded like it would be rectified somehow, but the bill showed otherwise with everything on there including the $80 rib EYE steak. read more

Arrogant & not accommodating! Came all the way from US for event & dealt with an event organizer Gabriella who seemed to have no idea when I asked for advice on food. Asked her how many canapés for 32 people, she said as many as you want. NOT HELPFUL! I accidentally picked one that was already being served at the sit down lunch & instead of catching that & telling me we already have that item later on, she said "good choices!" Lucky, my brother who had been organizing the event from the start caught this & fixed it. On the day of the event, Gabriella was not there, but the staff were arrogant, defensive, unpleasant & disagreeable. Drinks came out & after two rounds, I still didn't get one. When I politely asked them to bring out another round, they rudely said "Service just started! We've gone around twice & served everyone already!" Same thing happened for the canapés. We had mostly elderly people in their 70s+ some of whom were seated & had not been served yet so we again politely asked that they kindly not forget to serve them & they said they went around to everyone & think they were doing a very good job! I had the only child at the event who was thirsty & hungry & I asked them to please bring the canapés to us & again they insisted they had served everyone & was doing a good job. We had a guest who fell ill but after paramedics confirmed it was just dehydration, the waitress refused to serve cake saying that "You can wait! This is a matter of life & death!" Then walked away. We had guests going directly to the airport from the lunch & I didn't want them to miss the cake & photos. They could've said this more politely & sensitively. We paid a lot of money for the event & the least they could've done was to be accommodating & agreeable. On the whole the food was mediocre & the experience was unpleasant. I would definitely NOT recommend this place. (Scallops were dry & overcooked & lamb was nothing spectacular that you can't get the same results at home) read more

I want to live at Chiswick. First off, the atmosphere is lovely. The open plan makes it feel relaxed and comfortable, the big, glass French doors and windows that make up the back wall provide lots of sunlight. You eat looking out to a lush, green garden space. Now the food. Even the flatbread is perfect? The seafood just MELTS in your mouth, the share plates are a great novelty. The vegetables and salads are healthy and flavoursome, a nice addition to any of the mains. The desserts are delicious and rich. The fig tart is sickly sweet but nothing a nice cup of coffee can't break up. I will be back again. Service is great too. I did not like the cocktails and I found them expensive. So it was my birthday, and I wanted to go somewhere local to where I live, but somewhere new, and somewhere with that little bit of WOW factor. I found all of this at Chiswick. It has an immediate impact as you walk up the path from Ocean Street. Great gardens, with a stunning water feature, not to mention the immaculate manner in which this building has been brought to life with all the glass. A waiter opens the door for us upon our approach to the front door, and after checking our reservation (definitely book if going for dinner at the weekend) promptly seated us at our table. A quick look around and you'll be suitably impressed - Kitchen is fully open, and is perfectly framed by gleaming, stark white tiles and stainless steel. Set out infront of it is a "communal" long table running the length of the kitchen, and is crowded with small groups of people all sharing the hearty dishes set out before them. The rest of the restaurant is set with smaller tables for 2-6 people, and it doesn't disappoint. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, with a great mix of people, dressed smartly, and casually - no prejudice or snobbery here. The waiter tells us a little about the menu, and that it is designed for sharing, which is fantastic, because it means I get to try a lot more of the food!! We order the Pulled Veal Ravioli, and the Sliced Kingfish with Lemon Aioli to start. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Packed with flavour yet presented beautifully and delicately. Was melt in your mouth tender. Main was a difficult decision, but we went for the Fish & Prawn pie. It was cooked to perfection with a thick wedge of golden pastry on top I was in heaven! It was a good feed for 2 without sides, but would be also be perfect for up to 4 people with a couple of sides served with it. Stunning restaurant best visited in the day so that you can take in the beautiful gardens. Reservations are a must and this is the perfect choice for a special occasion. Go in a group so that you can sample as much of the menu as possible. If you have four or more I would recommend the collective menu at $80 pp which gives you a fantastic selection including the Moran family lamb straight from the farm which is mouth watering. Parking is not abundant but you won't have to venture too far to find one. Have the staff recommend a wine as the list changes regularly with the seasons and the menu. Another gem in Sydney's culinary arsenal. A place to go with good friends, to have the chats and banter over great food and service. You will not be disappointed. The relaxed atmosphere, ambience of the restaurant and friendliness of the staff make it a very comfortable eating experience. We had sharing plates of food for all our courses and it was a great decision. Our waitress was fabulous and guided us excellently on our choices. My friends complimented the wine list and I must compliment the beer list it was delicious. I didn't think it was too expensive for the quality of food and service given. NEVER COME BACK AGAIN !!! Personally, Chiswick is such a restaurant that raise your expectation under the celebrity chef name and suddenly let you down with overpriced unsavory food. I've gone through some of the reviews that describe how succulent the lamb taste. It's hard to make Oysters, scallop or king prawn taste bad, isn't it? I decided to go different and that wasn't a wise choice. It was my fault or the chef should ensure that each dish on the menu should at least have an average level. I came here for my aunt's farewell lunch. My mum and I really want to impress her with Aussie style food. Chiswick just came first in woollahra area and I like it with garden view. I must say the service was thoughtful. (You won't expect hot water served with individual teapot, along with lemon and ginger). One star for the service. We ordered: (DO NOT TRY EXCEPT THE DESSERT) Pressed rabbit, speck,autumn pickles, grilled sourdough Salt cured hiramasa king fish, avocado, papaya, mint Roast pork cutlet, savoy cabbage, gala apple, sage Whole grilled pink snapper, charred broccolini, capers, lemon Green beans, lemon, olive oil Caramel parfait, peanut praline, black figs I usually just skip the rabbit, but mum insisted having it. It's like a slice of rabbit cake filled with unflavored vegetables. I'd rather want more vinegar cauliflower instead. This starter was confusing. The presentation of salt cured king fish was sensational. I like how it served on the Himalayan Salt board, just like the way that fish cured. We all thought the green tiny bit was wasabi like Japanese do. It's actually plain avocado.It will be more interesting with some flavour to stand out. Finely diced papaya added some freshness and crunchiness to the fish. The longer you leave it on the board the saltier it taste. I personally prefer saltier. Worth paying the art. My favorite Hiramasa must be Bodega's version, also $22, larger portion, a way better taste.( Fish fingers, hiramasa, charred toast, cuttlefish, mojama ...) Roast pork is just a home made roast pork. I could do better. The only element surprising me was fried mint. They should double the cabbage and apple or giving more stock. Whole grilled pink snapper was a big NO NO. None of us like it. You can tell the snapper was not fresh by just smelling. The fish tasted bitter, perhaps its gallbladder was broken. I seriously recommend the chef try some Asian street grilled fish. $5, simply the best. Again, I finally understand why people suggest the broccolini, the best from the fish dish. This restaurant almost made me become a healthy vegetarian. Green bean ? I don't call it a salad. Many people love it. DON'T TRUST YOUR WAITER. Worst ever green bean I had in my life. Matt Moran, you are one fine speciman of manhood - your menu is quite simply - COMFORTING. I honestly did not know what to expect when I first walked in here, but I knew from the smell wafting out of that kitchen that this was going to be a very good night ... and it certainly exceeded that. A group of 5 of us were celebrating a birthday and from the get go, we were treated like we were the only group in the restaurant. I can go on about the food but I wont ... describing each dish does it no justice however I do want to mention the "sharing" plates. These looked AMAZING - my only regret of that night was that we did not order one of these plates (especially the seafood one) but hey, there's always this Friday night. Will be back 100%. read more

I have always wanted to go to Chiswick and finally we found the time! So went on a Tuesday night at 6pm as they were booked out for the 8pm time slot. One of the first people to be sat down near the windows which was lovely. For drinks we started off with a jug of some watermelon cocktail which had gin in it. It was a nice summary drink to help us cool off as the day was still quite humid. The menu is made to share as quoted by the waitress which we decided to do anyways. For entree to share we got 2 servings of the popcorn prawn and duck and for the mains we got the famous wood roasted Moran lamb, Whole roasted chicken and the wood fired rainbow trout. Food was amazing, the lamb just fell off the bone and the chicken well cooked through, although i wish they had put in extra stock in there. The trout was well cooked with minimal bones. Throughout dinner we sampled a few of their in house made sodas including, lavender & blueberries, Iced tea and kaffir lime and lemongrass all very tasty. Maybe because i have wanted to go for a long time i had huge expectations so when i got there it wasn't as what i expected it to be. Someone on our table commented that it could be considered upper class pub food. hmmm Overall Great venue, food, staff were helpful but i felt that it was missing something to give it a full 5 stars. read more

I would have to agree with "Hayley D's" review of Chiswick. We arrived with a party of 12 on time, and with similar stipulations, that there was only a set menu on offer. It also became apparent that the where time limits on our stay. The wait staff began clearing plates from our main course before everyone had finished eating, and the stragglers almost had their plates taken from them mid bite. Even the main dishes that had not be finished were cleared, and two different members of our party requested that the leftovers be saved (which we found incidentally when we left, were not kept). The dessert felt rushed, and we gathered by the flashing lights that it was time to go. The food was actually quite delicious, however (and maybe it was because we had the set menu) I feel that the quantity of food was disproportionate to the amount we paid. (We did have a few bottles of wine too) And I guess this leads into my rating. I've had some amazing food in Sydney and I have a fair idea of what to expect in terms quality of food and what it's worth, and for me Chiswick wasn't quite up to its reputation. read more

Holy smokes, this is a great restaurant! My third time here although it was my first opportunity to truly enjoy the experience. The setting is just so tranquil despite being only a few meters from Woollahra's major throughfare. The dining room feels so light and comfortable, and the staff couldn't be any sweeter. The food is essentially Aussie favorites done to foodie perfection. Between the two of us we each had a cocktail then shared a bottle of wine, three small plates (the oysters were particularly memorable), the lamb shoulder (don't even think of missing this) and ended with the pavlova. 5 stars all around! The downside? It's expensive - well over $100 per person, but the enjoyment is worth it. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting Sydney, a very special and unique place. read more
