This place is a community of makers. I've learned a lot so far, from woodworking to metalworking…read more Sewing, embroidery, Cnc milling, laser engrave and cutting, blacksmithing, there is so much to do and meetups with experts in the community. I joined about 2 years ago after Techshop shutdown, and I needed another place to continue my making needs. The hours is a little confusing at first, and they just recently revamped the website. So usually the makerspace is opened in the weekdays after 7pm and closes around 11pm-ish. Weekend I think is officially after 1pm til nighttime. On Friday nights there is alternating crafting and board game nights. And a tip for people who want to check it out, you don't have to wait for an open house specifically. To start, everyone has to take their "green go" class to learn the rules and structure of the place. (Keyword: community, it's all volunteer run). Then take the initial safety class per equipment and afterword you can either enter the lab by day passes, or pay $50/month to use the tools. There's another tier called key members that are community members that has contributed and volunteered, and are trusted with the keys to the place so you can go use the lab whenever. Definitely a really cool place!

Jennyfer was very rude, condescending, and unwelcoming to me. I have never felt so uncomfortable with anyone on the phone before. I emailed with an inquiry on availability for rental space and provided some ideas for volunteering that I could provide to the community. Not only did she imply that I had written "a lot of info to share via email," but then proceeded to ask me to what I wanted on the phone as if I was in an interrogation. She said, "Oh, I am sorry, I don't think you know who I am. Let me introduce myself....I manage Nova Labs and the Innovation Center... " This is unwarranted display of power and "gatekeeping" for a non-profit community organization. I had only visited the space several years ago when my friend had his office there. I am not aware of the politics or structure that she was implying about whether or not I was approvable in her eyes in becoming a member and volunteer with Nova Labs as well as whether I am qualified to rent an office space that should only be for"people who make things" not those who work at a desk. I make things using my computer and with my hands. Really disappointed and sad that this all just happened.

Lillique Training Institute - How is this still here post-facial?

I went to Lillique for laser hair removal for a special and I had a wonderful experience. The facility is clean, beautiful, and highly professional. I started my first session with a student under the supervision of a licensed instructor and continued my laser sessions afterward with instructor Toni. Toni is the best! This was my first time for any type of treatment and Toni made me feel very comfortable and put my concerns to ease. The student was very attentive, and I felt like I was in good hands especially with the caring guidance of Toni. Each session she listened to all of my concerns and gave me detailed aftercare instructions. Especially when I had to go on my trip to Mexico. I have also been seen by Mandana, the owner, who is so nice, caring, and very knowledgeable. She made the facility feel welcoming and warm. Their laser equipment is top-notch and very impressive. Overall, I had a very positive experience receiving services here. Lillique has a comfortable, calming, beautiful and professional environment which makes me appreciate the business! Mandana and the instructors take very good care of you! They also have a lot of promotions, which are great deals. They also have a great selection of PCA skincare products! I'm looking forward to booking more treatments at this wonderful facility!

SAVE YOUR MONEY- DO NOT COME HERE!!!!…read more The students and teachers are great, but the owner was so incredibly rude and aggressive. I've never met a less professional manager. I did not receive the full service which I signed up for and was happy to pay for, but since I didn't receive it in its entirety, I asked if I could come back and get the part of the facial service I didn't get but was most looking forward to and didn't receive fully (the extraction). I would've also been fine to pay a discounted price for the service I did get today, but instead of being understanding and flexible and trying to help me find a solution that I felt comfortable with, the manager yelled at me and berated me in front of the entire clinic. She proceeded to call the cops on me even though I was happy to pay, just not an unfair price for a service I was advertised but did not get. All and all, this manager ruined my day and my experience and I have nothing positive to say about her. She made her own business look very bad, and came across very stingy and difficult. I hope this business finds a better owner and management soon, they deserve a lot better. TLDR: Estheticians were great, manager was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I hope this business finds a new and better owner soon.

The idea of ear plugs for his sensitive ears. Picking out songs he likes so he can learn them with other kids. His teacher is great! And he is really enjoying it! The lessons are twice a week so it keeps drumming in his head. It feels like he is on his way to be in a kid band instead of stuck in a sound proof room playing patterns. We are very happy with the whole experience. The office manager is professional, smart and well organized. The teachers are talented and good to the kids. We will be here for a while! I look forward to my son's concerts in the future! PS - we have been to several concerts performed by a plethora of students. Very cool. Great experience!!

I don't understand this place. I got an initial call back to discuss how the place works, but then…read morescheduling a trial lesson was like pulling teeth-- calling, emailing, finally texting. Took forever. Got to the trial lesson only to be told the person we'd worked so hard to get wasn't available so it's with so-and-so. Uh. Fine, but we picked the other person for a reason. And booked another trial with the original teacher, only to get to THAT lesson and realize it's still not the instructor we'd been aiming for. While sitting during the lesson, another student walked in and was told "oh so-and-so is no longer with us so this other person will be your teacher today." What? So you're not told ahead of time? (The mom asked when they'd known this teacher was leaving and it was two weeks prior, but they didn't bother to give anyone notice.) I find it strange that you pay in advance for these situations. Anyway. It's too poorly managed for me, which is too bad because it is certainly a great concept.

Truly a hidden gem in Fairfax!…read more We've had the absolute joy of being part of the Michuchutren community for two years now, and I can confidently say this preschool is something special. I've had my daughter in another Spanish immersion preschool in NOVA, so I came in with a point of comparison -- and Michuchutren is a million times better in every way. From the very beginning, we were struck by the warm, welcoming environment and the Montessori-inspired setup where children learn through play and hands-on activities. There's no busywork here -- everything the kids do is intentional and thoughtfully planned. It's a mixed-age classroom, and it works beautifully. The younger kids learn by watching the older ones, and the older kids rise to the occasion, taking pride in being role models. It creates an incredibly positive dynamic and natural learning flow. The Spanish immersion is top-notch. The kids not only finish speaking Spanish fluently -- they live the language every day through songs, storytelling, and play. My daughter learned to read and write in Spanish here, and watching her language skills grow so effortlessly has been amazing. The Christmas and end-of-year presentations (all in Spanish) are a true testament to how much the kids learn and how much joy they find in it. A huge part of what makes Michuchutren so special is the staff. Angie, my daughter's teacher, is beyond incredible. She is soft-spoken, kind, patient, and deeply caring -- all while maintaining calm and consistent control of the classroom. Her presence is steady and reassuring. My daughter adores her and often tells us that when someone misbehaves or breaks a rule, all Angie says is, "It's okay, you're learning." That level of compassion and respect for children's growth is rare and deeply appreciated. The directors, Pilar and Andres, are equally wonderful. They're warm, approachable, and genuinely attentive to the needs of both children and parents. They've created a space where families feel seen and supported. After two years here, I can honestly say I haven't met a single parent who isn't thrilled with their child's experience. The community is tight-knit, and the love for this school is unanimous. If you're looking for a preschool where your child will be immersed in Spanish, nurtured by incredibly skilled educators, and grow socially, emotionally, and academically in a meaningful way -- Michuchutren is it.
