Apparently, they can reserve the court online for 2 hour increments. Plenty of street parking. Needs a key to enter the courts. The courts are lit so you can play into the night time. 2 tennis courts; 1 tennis court has 2 pickleball courts lines painted in. They have rollers available in case the courts are wet. My main complaint is that there isn't enough space between the 2 pickleball courts, BUT it is nice that the net is in between so you're not constantly chasing the ball. There's 2 benches which is nice. Overall, I wished I lived in the neighborhood and had private access to these courts haha.

We were waiting about 30 minutes for a court. I had one of my friends teach me how to play and we did a lot of drills. We also had help of my friend's friend who played for Mesa College Tennis (her shirt says it) so it was nice to have her help. I am not that good, but I will improve upon when I have more time. Several good things I want to mention about the location. 1. It is easy to find parking. There is a parking lot for the courts and it is good for 2 hours. Even if it is full, you can find parking on the Hourglass park side or the baseball field side as well. There is even a street parking on Gold Coast Dr., but good luck finding them, most parkings are used by residents on that street. 2. The court is free to use. There are no fees to use or fee to pay for parking. The only thing you need to do is bring yourself a tennis racquet and a ball. 3. For a free court, it is well maintained. The floor is not dirty. A good indication is by looking at a tennis ball. The tennis balls were still in their original colors. 4. The light is bright at night. You can see where you hit and there is no problems all around when it comes to playing in the evening. 5. For those who are interested in learning how to play there is a course on San Diego Miramar College. The classes are typically held Mondays and Wednesday or Tuesdays and Thursdays anywhere from 17 to 20 during the school semester. They will put signs telling everyone that the court is reserved for them. 6. There are 8 courts all together, so there is plenty of courts to use. The cons 1. Free court means a lot of people will come here. When that happens we have to wait for a court. We had that instance several times. The waiting last anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes. One person felt bad after we waited for 60 minutes so they got done at the 90 minute mark. They told us that people who are good at playing will stay the longest which means several hours of waiting. The casual players will only stay an hour at most. When we went that is what happened, lots of good people. Anyways, expect a wait, it is a first come, first serve. There is no sign in sheet too which means someone else finds a court, they take it. Although there is a court you can use at Wangenheim school during the daytime (when the school is out of session M-F after 16), but you will get dirty because there is a lot of dirt on the floor and no one to maintain it. 2. They do not tell you this, but the courts are open during the daytime, but closes at 22 or 10pm. The lights goes off at that time. So you want to bring your own lighting to find the balls that you have lost because we had to do that. They shut off their light without warning at 22. 3. Since anyone can use the courts, there will be people who do not know how to hit at times. We were guilty of that ourselves. So this means that the ball will occasionally land in another person's court and we can tell it annoys them. Which also means the same can happen to us. Mostly it is the court right next to the one we play because the fence is not long enough to stop the ball from coming. More like a minor inconvenience than a con, but worth mentioning. 4. Because it is an outdoor court, there are spots with no shades during the day. I never came on the daytime, but I would imagine that the sun does hit you mostly during the morning and the noon. I think the sun gets blocked by the gym because it is faced towards the west and they have the little shade covers for the fencing. TL;DR, Miramar is one of the best tennis courts to use. We never encountered any problems when using it except for the waiting time. There are plenty of courts, parking, and well maintained floors with bright lights for night play. It makes it an attractive option for many who just want to play. However, there will be a waiting time so expect the wait anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes. Other than that, you can not complain for a free use (no gym membership required from Miramar College) which makes it a 5 stars.

This park is conveniently located in 4S Ranch and right next to the Boy's club. One of the most delightful features of 4S Ranch community park is its provision of large tables and chairs, perfect for hosting parties and gatherings. For SD hiking ladies group, this park has become more than just a place to walk--it's a go-to party destination. We hosted our White Elephant holiday party here three years in a row. One of the park's standout features is its very decent and clean restroom facilities--a rarity in many outdoor settings. Another major draw for the hiking ladies group is the park's plentiful parking. However, as seasoned visitors of the park know, there's one caveat to keep in mind--the weekend sports event at the nearby boys' club. For anyone planning a big party, I suggest you to keep an eye on the schedule of sports events happening at the nearby boys' club.
