The pre theatre is always a good bet with a reasonably extensive menu at a good price and friendly service. The tapas portions are par for the course and the food has always been of more than acceptable quality. Their biggest sell for me is the chili chocolate mousse which is for me the especialidad de casa (thanks again to Spanish speakers Tuesday) I am (ahem) 'reliably informed' that the promo cocktails are worth indulging in and there is a pretty good wine list. Well, whatever, Mexican food is awesome all year round and this gave me the excuse to try Bibi's - something I'd been meaning to do for ages. We booked a table for dinner. Once we were seated we were handed complimentary nachos with a good, fresh, spicy salsa. Oh, and they also gave us a shot of frozen Margarita each. This is important because it lead to a great discovery: You can have a pitcher of frozen Margarita for £14.95. How could we resist? So, we ordered that, a Mexican sharer platter for a starter, the beef burrito and the chicken mole. Bibi's was busy, people who showed up without bookings were disappointed. However, it never felt hectic, we were perfectly relaxed (possibly something to do with the cocktails) and never felt hassled for our table by the staff. The restaurant is small but perfectly formed and perfectly managed. The starter was great, and a brilliant way to try a bunch of different flavours. Even my usually very fussy partner got stuck in. The mains were similarly delicious, my chicken mole came with two large juicy chicken breasts and a rich mole sauce, as well as small tortilla wraps, rice and salad. How did we wait until Cinco de Mayo to visit Bibi's? Now I can't wait to go back.

As other reviews have said, this place is small and you will need a booking most nights of the week. I phoned a few days in advance and could only get a table for 8pm on a Wednesday - they try to do their dinner service in two seatings, so it's either pre theatre if you're in early, or a la carte at the 8pm seating. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and so we were told to sit at another one, but then those guests arrived and so we moved to stand up again. The space is really small and so it's a little pokey/awkward - especially as the group who were at our table were asked to finish up and one of the guests seemed really miffed about this. Anyway, we were seated and given some menus, tortillas and margaritas while looking over the menu. I ordered the empanadilla with beef, chorizo & cheese to start, followed by the taco station. I had definitely scoffed too many tortillas but the empanadilla was delicious - served with a lovely sour cream sauce and actually quite big for a starter. The tacos were a mix of crispy corn and soft shell tacos and you can choose whatever fillings you want from about 8 options. I had refried bean, salmon and chicken which were all lovely. The chicken had some apple mixed through it which was odd but a nice twist. Our bill was about £24 each including tip and soft drinks and service was super friendly and helpful, even though they were clearly rushed off their feet. I can't wait to go back!

However, if you wish, you may bring in takeaway food from nearby establishments. My mates and I loved this place for its simple offerings of good beer on draught, and their local whiskey selection. Everyone else was watching the football match on the tele...but we were just having fun amongst ourselves.

Anyway, I don't know much about Tortilla apart from that it's a chain and just opened at Silverburn, and seeing as I needed to go to Paperchase anyway, decided to go here for lunch. Tortilla is where Aunty Anne's used to be (Aunty Anne's has just moved to a central spot in Silverburn so don't fret if you're a pretzel love), near Tesco/Cineworld and isn't the biggest place - there's a seating area but it's definitely smaller than the rest of the places in the food court/cinema area. The set up is a bit like Pinto/Barburrito/Chipotle - order at the counter and they make your burrito fresh to order, then you take your food and get a seat. I went for my standard order - a naked burrito with pork, sour cream, cheese and mild salsa. They have an choice of rice - coriander or tomato, as well as a few more salsa options than I'm used to but overall the experience is pretty standard. Meat options include chicken, beef, pork or veggies. I also liked that you have the choice between a medium and large burrito. I'm sure the people in front of me were charged extra for sour cream and cheese, but I don't think I was so I'm not quite sure about that - maybe it was just my lucky day (the menu does say that sour cream/cheese are extras). I also got a can of Fanta and it came to about £6 all up which isn't bad for a lunch in Silverburn. I took a seat and dived into my naked burrito. And you know what, it was damn good. A nice amount of pork and other toppings and the rice was really nice (I had coriander rice). A good sized meal, nicely filling without being too crazy and tasty. I added some of the hot sauce which is on the tables too for a bit of an extra kick. All up, I was impressed. They also do quesadillas (chicken only) and nachos but only after 3pm. WHY?! What if I want that for lunch?! So weird. Other things to note: they do veggie options (not sure about vegan) and cater for gluten free/coeliac, and the chicken is halal. They have a whole lot of literature about the "provenance" of the food which is a bit OTT to me, and while they are a chain they apparently aren't part of a bigger group so try to pitch themselves as a little guy. The seating is a little awkward as you're right near the walkway and I found there was quite a lot of people standing right over my shoulder to read the menu - so don't sit on the outer seating bit if that might bother you (it sure as hell bothered me). Would I go again? Yes - I don't love the food options in Silverburn I have to say, and I do love a burrito so this is probably going to be quite high on my eating options list when I'm at Silverburn.

I had guacamole, some sort of ridiculously spicy salsa, veggie chilli, jalapenos and rice in my burrito. For a small burrito it was very filling, especially with the lovely tortilla chips. The guac was delicious and balanced out the spices a little. The water took the edge off the spice, but not much. Like a proper kick though, so was delighted with this. You can choose between mild, medium, hot and extra hot. The place itself is quite small. The table I sat at still had the last customer's leftovers there, but it was busy when I arrived so can forgive them for that. You can buy bottles of hot sauce here and they do Swipii points. Yay! A wee review update and still a very strong 5 stars from me!…read more Cubatas is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow, I've now had countless meals here and enjoyed exceptional food and friendly, attentive service each time. We often take our little boy with us and they are so lovely to him, I order him a couple of dishes as soon as we arrive and these are brought out not long after we have him settled in his highchair and our drinks have arrived. It's brilliant as food keeps him occupied and we can relax and enjoy our food too. I force myself to order some dishes I haven't tried before - it's so easy to stick with the ones I have tried and I LOVE - and each time I discover another mouth watering dish. One of my new favourites is the pork cheek, melt in the mouth, jam packed full of flavour and so moreish. Added to some regular favourites such as the spicy prawns, paella, patatas bravas and their delicious salad dishes and you get a wonderfully varied meal. My top tip is to order a basket of bread for the table, the sauces and oils that accompany the dishes are divine and I love mopping them up with a chunk of soft fluffy bread. It's great going to Cubatas in a big group, with people who are happy sharing. My ideal would be to go and order one of everything off the menu, heaven :) These guys also do gift vouchers, I know as I bought my mum and dad some for Christmas. We've taken them for dinner here a few times and they love it!

Prawns in garlic, fajitas, A pork dish, chicken with a batter and colorful sauce, meatballs and a massive paella, I'm sure there has been a few dishes I've missed. Feeling full yet? My man said oh yes to them and a plate of their finest chicken gumbo please. I settled for a rack of ribs, man they were huge. They were so big they were bigger than my hands. I had a cheeky wee side of onion rings, which I'm glad I ordered. I felt the ribs were a bit undercooked for me as they were still pink in the middle. They tastied lovely but I found them hard to eat. I had to ask for a steak knife because I couldn't bite the meat off the bones. I need that meat just to slide off my bones. Oo er! Overall it was a lovely experience. The staff were really nice and the decor has certainly improved from the Common Rooms days. I would definitely go back and try something else from their menu. I fancy a Po' Boy sub next time. The pulled pork one is certainly pulling me in. Noms!
