I will never order from Chipotle. Small price to pay for their extremely deceptive business practices. The scenario: Today I tried to order Chipotle delivery from GrubHub and got one price on the app, but on the Chipotle website for the exact same meal, it was a different (lower) price. I happen to know that these third party delivery services (such as GrubHub) charge restaurants a cut of sales somewhere in the 30-some-odd percent range. It's the price you pay as a restaurant for the increased number of orders from these delivery apps, which makes sense. Guess how much Chipotle's price was inflated by on GrubHub? Yup, 30%. The restaurants input their own menus and prices, so this was a deliberate decision by Chipotle. They decided that on top of the customer paying a service fee and tip, we should also cover their restaurant fees, so they don't lose a single dime to the delivery apps. Super shady. Chipotle has mastered the fast casual, choose-your-own-adventure, fresh and authentic, online ordering experience, with a good measure of marketing finesse for added effect. No matter how long the line is, it's always fast and efficient. No matter how many times you've eaten at Chipotle, there's always a minor stutter when someone shouts the initial, "White or brown rice!?" at you. Cold, though apparently effective. Chipotle food quality is solid. The rice has good texture. The vegetables feel fresh and vibrant. The meats are generally flavorful and tender. The guacamole is well seasoned and bright. The perfect unifier. And there's a lot of food within each order. I don't think many fast casual chain restaurants stack up to the standard of Chipotle's general consistency. A few tips from a well steeped self-proclaimed Chipotle aficionado: (1) the steak is the worst protein order by far and is typically flavorless and hard as a rock, (2) I have never tried the queso but the pale yellowish orange complexion and seemingly grain cheese porridge like texture doesn't help, and (3) pinto beans always over black beans. Why even keep this store open (three different times this week we came for food, only to find the Frone Line is closed yet aagian? I consider myself a frequent Chipotle customer who goes once a week and I have been in over 40 Chipotle's and each one ranges in quality, service and preparation of the food. Excited to try this chipotle since this was my closet chipotle (I live in Yorktown) it turned out to be very unpleasant. I have dined here several times and each time I tend to find the meat overcooked, dry and tasteless. The service is fine but the food that is a letdown. I tend to go to the chipotle in White Plains on my way home from work they do a good job and are up to par with Chipotle standards rather than Mount Kisco. So I'm happy chipotle opened in kisco but the workers are amateurs. They skimp on the rice and meat and the folding job was terrible for my burrito. The more important issue is hygiene. I took a look into the containers that hold forks and other utensils and to my disgust there was hair and other particles in there. The girl who was cleaning just stopped to refill the utensils and I'm not sure if she had properly sanitized her hands prior to. Do yourself a favor and rinse the spoon/fork out with water at the drink station before using.
