This particular chipotle is not up to standard. Because I love chipotle so much, I keep trying to give it a chance. The first time I ordered they were out of lettuce 2 hours prior to closing. The next time they were out of guacamole and the rice was hardened/burnt. Another time they were out of salad dressing (for the salad bowl), and yet another out of veggies. And mind you... all of these visits were hours prior to closing time. I think I kept trying because every other chipotle are solid 10s, and I was trying to give them another chance. The filth of the dining area speaks for itself. If Chipotle neglects the hygiene of the front of house, you can only imagine the conditions of the food storage and prep guests don't get to see. I came in on a busy Friday night and their performance fell apart. Brown rice was out and the next batch wouldn't make it on the line for 40 minutes. Well into the dinner rush, hours before closing, they were out of salad vinaigrette and informed me there would not be any for the rest of the night. I love Chipotle. I love that this place allows me to calculate my macros w/o much stress. I can choose to be healthy and vegan or if I really wanted to or I can be a little on the naughty side and order a burrito bowl. I can easily down 2 chicken burritos in 1 sitting. There was a time where I would do that every time I go to Chipotle but that young Tram has died a long time ago. Now I am older, my metabolism has stopped, and I simply don't like the feeling of being too full now. I have changed quite a bit. Not authentic Mexican but they never advertised that they are. This place was the first to start the "build-your-own" concept and it has boomed ever since. For the people that are restrictive on what they eat, this place is a dream. I've been coming to chipotle for 10+ years in the bay area, moved to capitola a year back. Huge chipotle fan, but this location is hands down the worst run location I've been to. It smells like management issues. I come probably 3-4 times a week but today was the last straw for me I will not be coming back. Issues: Always out of ingredients. The past 10 times I've visited they have been out of steak. They are usually out of other things like guac, corn etc. Soda machine is almost always broken either no ice or no soda at all Chips are usually not available Half the staff is surprisingly rude Place is dirty and not kept, most days the chairs don't get put down off the tables so people can sit down until around 1130-12 so I pull my own chair down to sit Almost consistently out of lemonades Today specifically they were out of steak, corn, veggies, ice, tobasco wasn't sitting out neither were the forks, napkins and the chairs were still up so I couldn't sit down. Management I highly recommend you take action I've been to other Chipotle's in the area that are fine, this one specifically is awful. I just went to the Chipotle by the Capitola Mall. I ordered a salad. And for the second time within the last 2 weeks they didn't have any dressing. Again! It's pretty basic that salads come with dressing. I then heard the customer in front of me ask for the fajita veggies in his tacos. They told him they were out of those. So no use in me asking for some on my salad. The final straw for me was when standing right in front of a huge sign advertising the new pollo asado, i asked for some and was told they were out. This was 11:30am. They had just opened earlier. I'm not sure if this is a staffing issue or an owner problem. Needless to say I came home without a salad. Very disappointing! read more

2.5 stars. I'm mixed on this location. The one in Santa Cruz is run better and the food is fresher. Especially the chips. The chips at the Capitola location are almost always stale and way over salted. And the lines are horrible. The staff is very, very, very slow and if there are 10 people in line, you will have a minimum wait of 20 minutes before getting to the counter. However there are not many healthy food options near Capitola mall. If you get the bowl instead of the burrito, it will save you a lot of calories. Stopped by today at 1pm for a burrito bowl. There were 5 employees in the store and only 1 behind the counter. After waiting approx 15 min to order (only 2 people in front of me) they were out of almost all meat, no veggies. The floors were disgusting, no napkins and the ice machine was also not working. Came here for dinner a couple days ago.. to go! I ordered the burrito bowl: carne asada with everything in it and with mild salsa... because I seriously can't handle anything spicy. I also ask for 2 tortillas on the side so I can build my own little mini tacos with it. For $6.50 this is such a great deal. you can split it with 2 people and still be super full! Not sure what's happening to this store. It's my only source of fast food, has been so great when I don't feel like cooking. But it has become inconsistent, often cancelling orders due to be being out of major ingredients,... before 7pm even. I get it delivered and on more than one occasion I've had to spend 30-40 minutes on the phone cancelling the order myself because I ordered through the Chipotle website (I don't have the Door Dash app) This needs to be fixed. First of all, when I walked in all the seats were up, even though they are suppose to close at 10:00 PM and it was 9:00. I was looking forward to my delicious steak involved meal. Then while ordering my very simple meal I ask for steak. What do they tell me? "Sorry there is no steak" My heart then shattered into a million tiny pieces, like shards of broken glass. Then one of my companions asked for black beans and then got pinto beans instead. Then when we walked up to the register to pay we were greeted with dirty bottoms of the bowls and lids. When I got my food out I saw that there was a little bit of sour cream on top of the lid. As I sat down I noticed that the table beside me had little pieces of food on there that has been on there for a little while. I was of course an upset because I was looking forward to my steak but I had to get chicken instead. I ate my food and it was a solid 7.5 out of 10. Not the worst, not the best. Definitely not the best. Then right before we make our grand exit out of the chipotle one of the staff members greets us and gives us a small bowl of cheese dip and a small bag of chips. I honestly don't remember why she gave to us, but I think it was a very kind gesture and she should be praised for it. Anyways, the overall rating for this chipotle is a 6.5/10. This chipotle should be closed down. The store was dirty (like really dirty). That should've been a sign for us to do an about-face and leave (unfortunately we didn't). We arrived and it took about five minutes (despite the presence of a handful of employees and no one in line in front of us) for someone to "help" us. They were out of cheese, out of chips, and their fryer was indefinitely broken. They put a TON of hot salsa on my bowl without me asking for hot salsa (which I didn't discover until I got home) ... it was too spicy to eat. The employees were rude and did nothing to try to "make it right" (the fact that they were out of key ingredients). Avoid this place. It's dirty, slow, and not worth your time or money. read more

This time, worker skipped the produce and salsa section, rushed all our orders (family of 4) and a second worker came to take the next customer's order and the two workers talked over each other processing two separate orders. Good for fast food. Great spot for a quick bite. They have lots of options for simple food that feels good to eat. They make it right in front of you and you can make special requests to your specific wants. The service is really friendly. There is a parking lot out front for easy parking. They do have an mobile order system you can order ahead of time. They have outdoor and indoor seating. There are lots of hot sauces you can bring to your table and have both fountain drinks and some drinks in the fridge that are alternatives to soda. If you need to eat fast food it feels a little more fresh than other options. read more
