Mismatch composite color
Michael W.

I went to this practice for routine dental work, but had an incident a few years ago that caused me to leave. I had a composite filling on the side of a tooth and it fell out. I had had it in there for like 20 years and the color matched. So well in fact I didnt even realize it fell out for some time. I had it repaired here. The job was quick and when I got home I noticed the color did not match. I waited some time to see if it would change but it didnt. I remember the appt for this was at 4:00pm and I was out like about 4:12p. Quite fast I thought. A little extra time working on a decent color match would have been nice. I called and was offered a redo since the color match was so bad. So I went in and had a re-do. Again, the color did not match. Again I was offered a redo but at this point I decided why bother. One would think if a dental practice is doing a re-do they would get it right, but that wasnt the case. It is amazing that technology in the last century was able to match a color but here years later they could not. This happened more than 3 years ago, but I still notice the mis match color and it still bothers me but I just decided to live with it. I just saw all these glowing reviews here and thought I would speak up! The staff at the front desk were excellent always each visit, but with work like this I had to bail out of there. I will post 2 pics so you can be the judge yourself and form your own opinion as to if this is normal dentisty or not. Its the oval area on the lower left tooth that is the composite.

The staff is amazing, everyone is very friendly and thorough. Great atmosphere, it doesn't have that smelly clinical look and feel. But ultimately it's the friendly people that make you feel at ease that makes the difference.

Horrible experiences in the past have left my gums bleeding and me hating the hygienist with a passion unrivaled, but Barb was very gentle.

I'm sharing this review with the hope that it brings more transparency and training to this…read morepractice's approach and serves as a heads-up to first-time patients. During my first visit, I expected a routine cleaning, as is standard at most dental offices. Instead, I paid around $100 for x-rays and a session where the dentist briefly brushed and flossed my teeth, demonstrated a new flossing technique focused on gum health, and measured gum pocket depth. I was then told to follow this routine at home and return in six weeks to assess any changes--no cleaning was performed at that first visit. At the follow-up appointment, I was seen by a different dental hygienist whose overly cheerful and rehearsed demeanor felt disingenuous. While she wasn't overtly rude, the interaction felt hollow and uncomfortable, which added to my unease. During the cleaning, she made a snide comment about my dental habits and then completed the rest of the procedure without much communication. I also noticed an unpleasant personal odor, which was surprising and concerning given the setting. Hygiene and professionalism are especially important in a dental care environment, and this contributed to a sense that standards were not being met. Unfortunately, during this visit, I believe the hygienist injured my gums multiple times due to a careless approach in handling sharp instruments. One area in particular has remained inflamed and possibly infected ever since. There was no review or inspection with the dentist afterward, which I had expected based on past experiences at other dental offices. As I was walked to the checkout counter, the hygienist casually mentioned that I "might need antibiotics" in six months if the issue with my gums didn't resolve -- an issue I am not sure I had walking in to this appointment. I never saw the dentist again during that visit, and no additional guidance or follow-up was provided beyond the flossing and brushing routine recommended weeks earlier. This entire experience left me shaken and disappointed. I have no history of gum issues or needing oral antibiotics, and this visit left me worse off than when I arrived. I haven't felt comfortable speaking up, but I'm sharing this because no one should leave a dental visit with lingering pain or uncertainty about the care they received. I genuinely hope this office takes the opportunity to improve how it communicates services upfront and invests in better training for staff--especially when it comes to patient care, professionalism, and technique. Patients deserve clear communication and quality care that prioritizes their well-being and comfort.

I researched and really liked the "feel" of Atlanta Dental Spa. Their "No Judgement" attitude is what I liked the most. I walked in the front door (BIG step) and Tiara took such great care of me. She is so sweet!! After x-rays and scans, I met with Dr. Gandhi who was very understanding of my fear. He was gentle and explained everything that needed to be done and what those options were. It was scary looking at all that was needed, but they offer sedation dentistry and that's what I did. After a good couple of hours of being "consciously knocked out", Dr. Gandhi, Whitney and Britney got the work done! I left being able to smile showing my teeth for the first time in years! But more so, correcting the things that could affect the rest of my health. After I got home I did NOT have ANY pain which is saying a lot as I had a ton of work done. They said that days 3-4 might be the worst for pain, but there was NONE. And that's taking nothing but ibuprofen. The advancement of dentistry is amazing. More than that, finding a dental office that treats you like family, sees you at your scheduled time, offers you neck warmers, blankets, headphones with your choice of music...but most of all truly cares about your patient experience. I'll keep my mouth healthy at Atlanta Dental Spa-Highlands and Dr. Gandhi is my dental guy going forward! (Also thanks to Tiffany who helped answer my financial questions!)
