The upside here is you can grab a tee time whenever, it's pretty empty on a weekday, and the carts have GPS and track pretty accurately and the carts are in good condition. Challenging yet still fun to navigate through. If you're a walker some of the holes from 16 will have you doing a lot of walking through a quiet neighborhood street so if it's your first time, I recommend a cart before walking. The course isn't as immaculate as can be although still fun. The course has some weird orange and white flags sticking out of most holes, the sand traps are pretty much empty and crunchy. The course for the most part is very well marked though and fairways and layout are wide enough that you don't have other golfers cross crossing into your fairways to hit their pins. Most of my deductions came from the awfully rude, condescending and unprofessional pro shop experience I have ever encountered. Rather than Brianna tell us there is an additional charge for a cart seat she aggressively said she can't do it. There is an inconsistency in training from management and just the overall vibe each time we went to the proshop to check in was just a $hitty depressed tone. From the reviews sounds like not much has changed in 12 years. I think I won't be back until there's new management and they turn themselves around into the resort their name claims to be. read more

Easily the worst course I've ever played. Dead patches and dents on every green, (which had grass as long as the fringe at most courses) and not a single flat tee box. I expected a great resort golf course for $70. I've played some dog tracks in my life but this place was truly something else. I think I could build a better golf course in my backyard. Beautiful layout and views, but awful execution. Don't waste your time or money at this cow pasture they dare to call a resort. read more

The employees at the clubhouse were absolute rockstars. We were held up with VERY slow play behind some locals who were complete hackers and refused to let us play through. We went to see about a rain check and they gave us a full refund. Sad that the locals were so rude but kudos to the employees at Chinook Winds GC for making things right for us. The lady in the pro shop was very rude. She made my girlfriend pay $15 just to ride in the car with me while I golf. She was not even golfing!! Total BS. Even she said it was a stupid rule but she still continue to charge me $15. The course is pretty crappy. There are elk tracks and elk poop on every fairway. Most of the time I could not figure out where the tees were at. There's probably six part threes on this course. So if you like to practice your short game go right ahead. Overall I will probably never come back and play here. There's a reason why this is my first time playing golf here and I've been out here over 100 times already. Oh well what do you expect for 30 bucks. read more

Had a great time playing here today (11/04/2020). The course conditions were very nice, the tee boxes/fairways and greens were looking good. Unfortunately the weather wasn't so much on my side and everything was a little saturated, but that's the weather for this time of year. I was able to play it from the blue in under 3 hours mostly due to having the course to myself, which is the first time that has ever happened playing golf. read more

We came here to spend a day with friends for a day of golf. I haven't golfed in 30 years and had a blast as this is such a beautiful course. My girlfriend and her boyfriend golf here all the time and they gave us the royal treatment. We brought along refreshments from the clubhouse and my husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much. Aces is the restaurant where we bought our drinks we took out on the course with us and two bloody mary's and four beers were $20 what a deal for a resort!! My husband had not golfed in awhile and really had a nice time as he said it was a real nice course, I wouldn't know as I mentioned before "30 years" man I'm giving away my age or I golfed as a toddler....lol So if you golf and are in this area don't miss this beautiful golf course it is so nice!! Hello all, My rating for this course is actually a 3.5 but i like to round up. Lol. how I do my reviews are to break them down by categories and then based off of the categories I get the average score to figure out how many stars I will give. STAFF- 5/5 The staff was the best feature of this golf course. The lady I spoke to on the phone was incredibly helpful I mention the fact that we were going to the golf course with a group of five for a bachelor party. I asked if it would be possible for us to have a five some on one hole or if we needed to break it up. She was very kind and understanding and said as long as we kept pace we could have all five of us on the same hole. When we arrived we were still shocked that they allowed all five of us to be on the same hole. Most courses do not allow more than four per hole for fear of pace of play. But I do really appreciate the flexibility of the staff to accommodate us and make our trip very enjoyable. There was a gentleman there who would run out and make sure the carts were ready. He gave us all sorts of directions and tips before we took off. And was also very friendly and every time he greeted us it was with a smile. COURSE- 3/5 I will say that the course is average at best it is not a horrible course. But it is a course that is not that challenging if you are a very good golfer and it's just a fun adventure. There's a lot of elevation change I walked it it was a very difficult challenge to walk and that was my choice I enjoyed that challenge. I would recommend for most golfers to get a golf cart to keep pace of play. I'm one of those crazy golfers that likes to walk every course no matter the elevation. The course does present some small challenges but overall is a very short course. The fun of this course is the amount of elevation change and how several of the greens are drivable if you are a long ball hitter. This makes you feel like you are Dustin Johnson for the day. They do have a driving range however it is it indoor driving range. Which makes sense seeing as they are on the coast. Keep in mind some holes are pretty tight and you have either houses or a road next to you or right next to the green so keep this in mind when thinking about driving the green or not. PRICE- 3/5 When talking about price I like to factor in if it's a good deal, if it's overpriced, if you're really getting your moneys worth. Now that I have played the course I can say that I do believe it is a little bit overpriced for the quality of course. It's not horrible when you factor in that the price of the course includes a golf cart. Sometimes I am fine with paying a very expensive rate to play around of golf when it is a very high-quality Golf Course. It makes it understandable why you are paying that price. Where in this case I feel like the price you are paying is because it is the most decent course within the area. read more

Stroke of luck we found this course during our week in Lincoln City from Fresno Calif. Wasn't listed on Yelp (although Casino & Resort is listed) so we drove out after looking at the other resort course at Salishan in Gleneden Beach. Salishan is gorgeous and looks very well maintained but the price ($90+), the slope rating(138, 133, 134) and length (6501, 6106, 5237) got us thinking. We're 15 & 25+ handicaps and wanted to have fun rather than get "beat up" by a difficult course... sooo we kept looking and found a few more courses. A couple of reasonable and well maintained 9 hole courses and then we found Chinook Winds. Since I couldn't find it on Yelp I'm hoping this isn't redundant listing for the same course. BUT... this course deserves its own listing! This is a shorter course located down in a little low spot out of the wind, at least at 9am in mid-July. Slopes 109, 107, 100. Yardages 4557 Blue, 4209 white, 3861 Red. 18 with a cart: $43, a little higher on weekends of course. (the price at Salishan didn't bother us, we would have paid more for Chinook Winds) There're 9 par 3's and they're not gimmes! The entire experience was a thumbs up experience. The grounds and greens are well maintained and the carts are kept in very good condition. This was the fun & challenge we were looking for. Risk rewards were just right and it wasn't so hard to play that we were banging clubs into the ground. Have fun! read more

The course is in terrible shape. Nothing has been done to cleanup the debris from past wind storms. In bound areas are covered with stuff and even some times you have to hunt for your ball even in the fairway. Sand traps are not sand but plastic sheeting. You would think that a course so close to the beach there would be an abundance of sand!? And how about raking the existing sand (what little there is) in the morning by the greens staff? First time playing here and enjoyed my round. RVing nearby and I wanted to get in a round of golf before leaving town. Finding the pro shop downstairs we're the carts are stored was different. Usually on the parking lot level next to the bar & grill. Anyway. Very challenging on the longer holes from the blues with blind shots around trees to narrow fairways lined with thick, throny vegetation. Found that I needed to add a club length on most of par threes. Overall I had a great time and found the staff friendly and helpful. Would play here again in a heartbeat. read more

NOT A GOLF REVIEW - ONLY BAR/RESTAURANT! With that out of the way, this is a really nice, relaxed bar/grill/restaurant. I've gone there twice so far to watch football matches (soccer) and they were incredibly accommodating, which was very pleasant and surprised me. The clientele is a bunch of "good ol' boys/regulars," so I dressed up a bit so I wouldn't stand out, and was treated very well. The food is quite nice for standardfare and I'm rating this 4 based on the friendliness of the bartenders, their willingness to help out patrons, and even play sports games that are uncommon in the US. read more

Horrible interactions with this resort. One of their players broke my windshield with a golf ball as I was driving by and they told me there was nothing they could do about it. All they did was offer me a free round of golf. They build right next to the highway and put up no net or fence, and then when their guest cause public damage, that could have potentially been really dangerous, they try and shrug of responsibility. So if you are a new player, don't golf here. You could potentially cause serious damage and the resort literally won't even give you a safety net to help out. My interaction with Corey in management was the worse. He was cavalier about shrugging of responsibility. read more

The course is in decent shape. But this course is not for anyone new to golf. They have a busy street right next to the first 6 holes. They have tee boxes directly behind greens, right in the line of fire if you over shoot the green. Most of the tees are uneven so you're not hitting off flat ground. Overall it was a pretty poor experience from a customer standpoint. First our tee time was pushed back 30 minutes for a tournament that was running long. When asked what they were going to do to make it right, they just looked confused and passed the buck off. Next, there was no drink cart on the course. It was the first Saturday of June at 1:30pm, really? The tee boxes and fairways were good, however 50% of the sand traps were under repair and free relief, really hurt the experience with free relief. The greens were atrocious, they were recently plugged, and rolled leaving it hard and uneven. Reads could break 4 inches either way as the ball slowed. At the turn, we (a bachelor party) went up to the bar to purchase drinks and food for the back 9. We let the two twosomes that's caught up play through. After order $60 worth we were addressed by some arrogant little jerk who worked at the course. "What's the problem? Why aren't you teeing off?" We informed him we were just coming back from getting food and letting the others play through. "So are you guys going to tee off or what?" Extremely condescending, the guy needs fired ASAP, the attitude isn't needed when we are paying for a service and it's be provided very poorly. Honestly save your money... the $55.00 rates aren't awful, but it should be priced closer to $30.00 for how terrible it was. The bartender was great, so was the food. The interaction with the golf pro-shop and employees there was awful. I believe the bosses name there was Scott, he seemed to be the ring leader of the circus of clowns. read more

**Please read! My boyfriend and our puppy and I were driving by the course on our way to the beach when a golf ball struck our windshield, leaving massive cracks from the point of impact. The loud sound threw us all off guard. We happen to be driving by a school bus, and I am so, so grateful that my boyfriend was able to keep control of the car, when this could have potentially caused a terrible accident. I am also very grateful that we were not a few inches forward, and that the golf ball did not come through the passenger side window. We called the golf course (which obviously, does not have the proper netting up) the next day, they didn't answer, and gave us the run around until finally we were able to speak to a manager a week after the incident. They would not accept the responsibility of their players, and have told us they will therefore not do anything for us. This is incredibly frustrating for us, as this was, obviously, a completely unexpected incident. All we can do, is ask that when you look for a golf course, please look elsewhere. read more
