Its Mediocre Time again!
CNR has been around since 1991, and was within walking distance of our hotel.
We ordered beef & scallion pancake, XLBs, veggies and salt & pepper pork. The total came to $56 AUD.
First of all, the pancake was bad. The beef was like a burger inside the dough, and it was cold in some spots. Secondarily, the salt & pepper pork wasn't what we were expecting. We were expecting something like Cantonese style pork chops. Unfortunately they serve Northern Chinese cuisine. It was pork pieces, and didn't have the strong salt & pepper taste. Thirdly, the veggies were fresh. Lastly, the XLB were ok. The filling was generous, but the dough was chewy. In addition, we were not given ginger.
Regarding the ambiance, its casual here. Oddly, you are not given comp hot tea, and tissues serve as your napkins. The waiter handled the whole place, but was inattentive. He forgot our rice.
There is nothing wrong with the food here. We simply ordered the wrong items. Its a noodle place, but it was too hot for soup, and we had chow mein the night before. Nonetheless, i would not return here bc I didn't like what we ordered. read more
