I had popped in here before and found it to be a relatively good experience so decided to bring my other half.
The table was booked this time for 19:30 to save a wait time of being assigned a table. Despite being led to a table sooner it was a least an hour before any food touched our lips especially as there were only two chefs on. To be fair we were given a round of free drinks for the inconvenience.
I really fancied the soft crab maki and actually worked out the set meals are not necessarily worth it? You Are better of choosing your own items separately so I had the meat combo (chicken, duck and steak) for £26 , seasonal veg for £3 ( because I remember the beansprouts being bland last time) miso soup and choya umeshu plum sake. My other half had the samurai set meal which consisted of the same items I had apart his Starter contained just one spring roll, salmon nigiri and a fish cake.
The soft shell crab maki was my favourite part of the meal definitely worth £10. Miso soup was standard. When the rest of the table joined us the chef got to work. It was therapeutic watching him at cook.
He asked how we preferred our steaks I immediately said rare while my partner opted for medium. They were both cooked rare, I enjoyed mine though! As for the duck and chicken these were overcooked so very dry
The beansprouts were as bland as the fried rice I was glad I got the seasonal veg.
Overall I think it was an expensive meal for the quality and second time I've had to wait over an hour for food. I prefer the sapporo teppanyaki for sure by this point. read more
