I just want to be able to justify the cost with the quality etc. The German potato salad was very good as was the coleslaw. The clam chowder was tasty but my bowl didn't have many if any clam pieces. It was more liquid and potato. The service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed the outside patio area instead of eating inside. I will be back as I do enjoy and like this local restaurant. Because I know they used to make these correctly, I took my drink back and asked about it. Long story short, they have replaced their original machines with manual steam wands and switched to "new and improved" machines that use automatic steaming. You place the wand in the milk, push a button, and voilà... a cup of lifeless hot milk. Dry foam on top, little to no texture below. It's fast, and I can see how it works well for a drive-through model. But it's a real disappointment for anyone who appreciates a properly textured latte with that smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Even with these machines, better texture is possible, but it takes more time and attention. When speed becomes the priority, quality is usually what suffers. The one consolation is that their Coffee Cake Muffins are still amazing.
