The place is a traditional styled Chinese food location optimized for takeout orders. It's a bit dated and fairly clean but not sparkling. It's like places in NYC, just clean enough. The service is typically along the lines of just straight to the point what do you want and okay here's your order. The food however us it's downfall. I've eaten the food about 9 times in the last few years, as it was better than the other Chinese food place nearby I did a review on prior (small place). I sampled a lot from the menu over time. Here's what sticks out to me that others may want to know-the egg rolls are tasteless mass produced tasting, the won tons are thick dough and rubbery. Hard to chew, but easy and likely best to spit out and never order again (I ordered them at least 6 times hoping it would get better, but it never did). Spareribs were ok but not much meat. The dishes were all swimming for their lives drowning in sauce and oil. Way too much sauce and oil. I suggest the other choices in the area including the small place I reviewed in the past which has better food, and even the nearby Panda Buffet which is a great atmosphere and very clean looking for dining in too. read more

This was our first time trying China Wok. The person taking the order was very to the point, but being a Friday night, I imagine they were getting a lot of calls. They took my card over the phone and added the tip. We ordered General Tso's chicken - extra crispy - and pork mei fun with some pork egg rolls. We were not given a delivery estimate, but she did make sure she had the address correct, which made me feel better. First, the egg rolls are generously sized and delicious. The chicken was, in fact, extra crispy as requested. The mei fun was some of the best we've had from any Chinese restaurant in the area. Delivery was also within the hour. We've been customers of China Wok Wayne Avenue for years at both the old and new location, but the quality of some menu items has gone down. Chicken with Cashews and Kung Pao Chicken are now loaded down with 50% of cheap chopped carrots to replace the cashews and peanuts. Today we bought Kung Pao Chicken to go and the container was more than half full of chopped carrots and I'll guarantee there wasn't more than ten peanuts in the whole thing. I would give this place a negative review if I could. Firstly when I asked for additional fortune cookies (3 more), they said it will be an additional charge...wtf! I was hungry for seafood lo mein and I usually get king crab which is good. Then I decided to try the lobster lo mein. I was eating it awhile and didn't see any lobster. Then I got something that looked like the dehydrated shrimp in cup of noodles. I took it back and said I ordered lobster and showed the receipt. They told me it was baby lobster. It tasted awful I must add. I said I've never seen or tasted lobster like that. When I asked for another kind and they hesitantly said I could get the smaller size because I ate some. I've noticed a marked decline in the quality of this used to be fine restaurant. While portions may be the same the quality has definitely declined. I've tried it several times as I've found it hard to believe they would not notice the problem. Tonight I ordered the House Special Fried Rice and it probably had half the beef, pork, chicken, shrimp the former owners used. We were looking for a Chinese restaurant that could accommodate us all, and decided to give China Wok a try. Although they were unwilling to substitute tofu for the meat on the lunch specials (which really doesn't make much sense to me) we went ahead and ordered from the regular menu since it was a miserable day and we were tired of driving around looking for something to eat. We ordered Szechuan tofu and General Tso's tofu, and I have to say it was some of the most delicious and perfectly prepared tofu I've ever had. Absolutely wonderful, and the veggies and sauce were excellent also. If we could have gotten a lunch special order, there would have been five stars. All of the positive reviews here are spot on. The food is very good from here. Veggies are always crisp and never limp or over-cooked. That's a big one for me. I get the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce and it's so good. Plenty of big shrimp that are cooked perfectly. Sauce is delicious. Lots of broccoli florets (no stem pieces), plus carrots, water chestnuts, celery, green pepper...it's delicious. Also good the next day (I recommend heating it in a pan on the stove versus microwave. Turns out much better). They're fast in making the food, too. You won't have to wait all that long unless they have some really big order right before yours. We always get it to go, but service is prompt and efficient. This place was recommended by family as "the" place for Chinese take-out. I've ordered from this place at least 50 or so times since moving to Fayetteville in 2015 and their service has been amazing throughout. The lady on the phone has no problem problem speaking or understanding English despite it being her 2nd language and the deliver guy is a really nice guy. I highly recommend the Honey or Sesame chicken or their beef and broccoli. There have been very few times (we're talking like 3 or 4 times out of 50+) that the food wasn't of top quality and as long as they continue business I will order from them exclusively. 5/5 in my opinion. I will say though, if you are outside of the Chambersburg area, you should expect a delivery time of 40+ minutes, however they made an exception to order for us therefore I have no complaint. read more

Bad experience my first time there. Ordered 3 meals, the wife's came within 5 minutes, the son's came 10 minutes later, and mine came 10 minutes after that. The wait wasn't the worst part. The General Tso's Tofu and Szechuan Tofu were really good. For the food rating, it's 5 stars but the ambiance is maybe 2 stars (little strip mall location, order at counter, paper menu). The service was maybe a 2 for me as they were not very friendly and were not accommodating. Not very customer oriented-kurt and a little rude. Not willing to accommodate us. We visited here when in PA from out of state for a family funeral. When we went in the place was completely empty so you'd think a family coming in to order a bunch of meals would make them happy since they had a bunch of kitchen staff just standing around. Our entire family is vegetarian. They have Szechuan chicken or beef on the lunch menu and Szechuan tofu on regular menu but refused to substitute it on lunch menu for us. Gave us the excuse that they have to cook it fresh - aren't all meals cooked when you order them? Ok, it's American Chinese but it is Chambersburg so beggars can't be choosers. This is the only Chinese restaurant that I will go to when I am in town and I have to say the owners have alot to do with it. They are a young couple that have worked hard and it has paid off for them. This place is always busy on the weekends and business isn't bad during the weekdays either. I tend to get the shrimp chow fun when I order from here but most of their food is pretty good. read more
