This place, while on the outside looks like a little hole in the wall, is a true gem. It's simple Chinese take-out, but dang is it good! Their chicken and broccoli is some of the best I've ever had and they're pretty good at getting your order right - even when you ask for something a little picky (my husband hates onions in his fried rice). My husband recently tried the General Tso's (apparently super spicy (hilarious to watch him eat it though!)) and Sesame Chicken because although his favorite is boneless spare ribs, he would like a little more juice in New Moon's recipe - but he loved both of the new dishes he tried. We got delivery from this establishment this last time, and the service was quick and great! I ordered online from work so that when I got home we could just eat and relax. I was nervous because I'd never used their delivery or online order service before, but I wasn't disappointed. Very thankful that this is one of our many options for a lazy night dinner!

This establishment delivers consistently poor service and substandard food quality. We submitted an…read moreorder yesterday, only to wait over an hour and twenty minutes. When I contacted them regarding the delayed delivery, they finally delivered it. Unfortunately, the food arrived cold, with the chicken and eggrolls severely overcooked. Upon calling to express my dissatisfaction, the staff member dismissed my concerns by claiming they were busy. My husband made the effort to return in person, hoping for a resolution. The manager offered merely $10 in compensation and refused any further accommodation. When my husband pointed out that we had provided a generous tip to the delivery driver and had to make an unnecessary trip back, she responded dismissively with an attitude and declined to help. This situation was never resolved. This is not how professional businesses operate, nor is it how you retain loyal customers. I strongly recommend visiting Peking Tokyo instead.

I was so pleasantly surprised from our first visit at Sakana that I had to make a return trip later…read morethe same week. It was a humble reminder that you don't need to go to a culinary destination to find good food. Cheshire Connecticut may not be known for its food scene, however, I found Sakana was a genuine diamond in the rough. My expectations were admittedly low going in. My level of skepticism is always high when I see the "Asian Bistro" moniker, as it is frequently used for restaurants to try to appeal to the masses at the expense of quality by having a "jack-of-all-trades" menu that lacks the technical intricacies and mastery required for specific dishes. Additionally, these establishments tend to follow a "cookie-cutter" menu and offer the same boring dishes you can find at every other Asian Bistro. Even when initially walking towards the restaurant, I had my doubts. The exterior of Sakana honestly looked more like a clinic than a restaurant. Once I saw the menu however, my skepticism shifted towards optimism. For a local bistro, they feature a surprisingly extensive wine and cocktail menu, including premium sake options. I was particularly impressed to find toro on the menu; although it's undoubtedly becoming more of a trend in Connecticut, I was nevertheless happy to see it offered at Sakana as well. Overall I liked their sushi selections and everything I ordered was well-prepared and tasted fresh. We ordered a chicken and broccoli for our daughter and found the chicken tender and broccoli perfectly cooked. That may not sound impressive to those reading, but you'll be surprised how many restaurants fail to execute this baseline dish correctly. The service, although pleasant, was probably the only "weak link" of our experiences here. The quality of service was noticeably inconsistent between our two visits, and they would benefit vastly from having a more reliable and experienced front-of-house team to match the execution coming from the kitchen and sushi bar. Despite this minor gripe, Sakana was a standout. As long as I'm in the area, they will definitely be among the top of my list of places to eat!

So friendly. Is the food exceptional? To me no, but my parents enjoy it. Tonight we started with crab rangoons. Pretty good. Sauce on the side not very exciting. A chili sauce would be better. I got a sushi roll with White tuna inside and cooked shrimp on top and wasabi mayo. I forget the name of the roll but it was better than the two times I've ordered takeout. Miso soup was also good. Their soup bowls are in the shape of a heart which is super cute. Dad got some sort of a mixed protein dish with brown sauce (had shrimp, chicken and beef). Mom got the chicken and garlic sauce. They both got fried rice on the side. I tried it and it was very bland. Dad also got a salad with his meal and the ginger dressing was not very good. Red coloring to it. Usually ginger dressing is more on the orange side. Dad also got the Malaysian chicken coconut soup to start and it could use a bit more flavor. Was a bit watery. Mom loved her sweet and sour soup. Nice that this place is 5 minutes away. Cheshire needs more restaurants. Def not my fav restaurant in town though. Food to me is just ok.

The orange chicken was tasty, and the pork fried rice was good, tasted fresh. On the other hand, my three other options weren't the best. I had gotten the crab ragoons and they tasted horrid, you could taste the oil it was fried with, making me to believe they may be using the same oil to fry everything without proper oil changes. The pan fried dumplings tasted like it had been cooked all the way through, it didn't have a pleasant taste. The eggroll tasted dry and I couldn't even finish them. I'm not one to usually throw away food, but after eating have of the crab ragoons, and a poor attempt at trying to finish the dumplings, I had to throw them away. If I ever bought from here again, I'd only buy a Dinner Combo w/Pork Fried Rice. No way would I trust their appetizer/fried options again.

Aside from the two things I got today, I also like their Szechuan tofu and their cold sesame noodles. However, I don't like their lo mein or their general tso's tofu at all.
