My dad also lived in Houston and we'd often do shopping or eating at the mall. My daughter (who is now 30) loved (& still does) skating at the ice rink during the holidays. It's a magically fun experience. The Galleria is always incredibly decorated for the holidays. I still get to Houston 1-2 times a year and always enjoy visiting The Galleria. The Galleria itself has not only the ice rink but office space, two hotels, lots of places to eat, and shopping. The retail offerings range from shops like H&M, Macy's, and Nordstrom to high-end luxury shops like Gucci & Chanel. We were there just a few months ago and it was just as fun and exciting as my first visit! Gang, there are so many stores here. Like crazy amounts (a few hundred). It's very large and easy to navigate and of course gets extremely busy during peak times. A must-visit for locals and tourists alike.

Shopping can be hit or miss, and on this particular day, it was definitely a miss. My friends and I…read moreare dedicated bargain shoppers, and despite our best efforts, the Houston Galleria wasn't giving up any deals. With only about an hour before leaving Houston, our shopping mission was more of a speed run than a leisurely browse. Even without scoring any purchases, the Houston Galleria remains an impressive destination. The moment you step inside, you experience bright lights, multiple levels of stores, and a steady stream of shoppers that create an energetic, bustling atmosphere. Beyond shopping, the mall offers entertainment options such as its iconic indoor ice-skating rink, making it easy to spend an entire day there. One of the Galleria's biggest strengths is its variety. Luxury retailers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton share space with more accessible brands such as Banana Republic and American Eagle, offering something for nearly every budget and style. Whether you're on a focused shopping mission or simply window-shopping, there's plenty to explore...even if, in our case, we left empty-handed. The dining options are equally diverse, ranging from food-court favorites to sit-down restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory and Shake Shack to Chic-fil-a. While we didn't find the bargains we were hoping for, our fast-and-furious shopping adventure was filled with laughter and great conversation, and the kind of fun that comes from spending time with good friends. Sometimes spending quality time with friends is the best find of all.

Once inside, I will say the selection varies from one shop to the next. I can honestly say you will find what you are looking for or even more things you didn't know you liked. Now, my heart lies with all things gems, beads, and stones. But I soon kept wondering and discovered there were these cute scarves for a really great price that I adored. Contrary to the name claim, there is nothing Hong Kong about this mall. It should have been named Saigon City Mall which would have been more appropriate. Aside from the huge anchor Asian grocery store in the middle, the mall is flanked by an assortment of Vietnamese-oriented beauty/cosmetics, nail, phone, apparel, gifts, pho and Asian-centric mom-n-pop stores with a sleepy food court on one end. There are quite a few signs pointing to Massage upstairs. The other prominent anchor tenant is Shabu Zone. Generally, around 50% of the stores were closed. Parking lot is Lone Star state size. Nothing else exciting to write about. Certainly, a coulda, shoulda, woulda experience. Sure you'll like this mall if you want to experience Vietnamese culture.

Indeed, Teaholic has some wonderful Vietnamese drinks and a lot of delicious Boba, such as the Strawberry Black Tea which is one of the best of its kind anywhere. And the Strawberry Aloe reminds me of the Aloe Refresher from Fruitealicious in Dallas. Amazing. Bambu, next door, is the very best location of the Viet dessert and drink chain, making some of the best smoothies you'll ever have - especially the Honeydew, the Taro Coconut, the Mocha, and the Berry. But there's a lot more than just Viet stuff here, with amazing Korean Chicken (Lim's) as well as soups and stews and rice stone pot bowls aplenty. Zero Degrees (Cali chain) has a wonderful and popular location here, with their Strawberry Mojito and Strawberry Lime drinks off the charts, and their Cucumber Lime, Viet Coffee, Strawberry Horchata, and more, also stellar. Not a fan of Chili and Mango stuff, but their Mangonada is famous and popular too. And they do split cups (so does Teaholic). If it seems that people are staring at you in this plaza, don't take it personally... they're probably sterling at you rather than staring at you. Featuring H-Mart and so much more, this is one of the largest and most thriving plazas in Chinatown Houston which is one of the most thriving Chinatowns in the western world. It's not quite as intense and packed full of stuff as the massive Dun Huang complex across the street, but it more than holds its own in terms of bakeries, boba, and brilliant noms. Sterling is a wide-open, clean, and new-ish looking really lovely Plaza right across from DH, and seems to get somewhere between 50-75% of the business that DH gets, mostly for H Mart, 7 Leaves and 85 Degree Bakery, plus a lot of other less busy but sometimes even more brilliantr places, especially Mr Wish, which is one of the best boba shops in Texas, and probably the best fruit tea provider in the state. Another wonderful Boba shop here is Modern Tea, and Tea 4 U has some wonderful employees and owners, as well as the wonderful 85 Degree Bakery which is a chain but it's one of the best locations quality wise (if not always service wise), and open late, as well as the very popular 7 Leaves with some great employees and a really cute ice cream shop named Bae, imported from Los Angeles (first location outside Cali), and where a lot of hotties can be found (and coldies, ice cream wise), and some excellent restaurants as well - for example King Flavor and Sinh Sinh. After my extensive research about Sterling Plaza, there were some connection about precious metals in its name. The first supermarket was called New Golden Supermarket (suite M). A couple hints are Golden Dumpling House (suite A) and Golden Beauty Salon (suite 115). I have to guess Sterling is silver. They compliment in many ways to represent prosperity. I dislike the numbering schematics. Hmart is Suite M. Taste of Chengdu is Suite A. I would never guessed Arco Seafood is Suite K. There's a secret passage behind Uyghur Bistro.
