I've lived here for 13 years and have tried literally every Chinese restaurant in town looking to find a place even remotely close to the amazing Chinese food I grew up on in Boston but to no avail until I stumbled across this amazing gem! Where do I start? First of all it's not ideal for dining in but it's super clean and the service is fabulous. The won ton soup is one of the best I've ever had. The wontons are rich, hearty and not the least doughy. The broth is perfect. Not too salty and perfectly compliments the wontons. There are no bad choices on their menu. From the appetizers to the chef specials, everything is fresh and made to order. The family that owns China Spring are the best. We order often and we always get an extra dish as a thank you. They are incredibly generous with their condiments and when they give you a pick up time, you can guarantee that it's hot and ready to go when you get there. Thanks to the owners of China Spring I'm a lot less homesick and so grateful to finally find a Chinese restaurant that is consistently delicious, fresh, and never fails to deliver delicious Chinese food. read more

Very good food. We had the Kung Poa Chicken and Shrimp, house fried rice, spare ribs, egg roll, fried wonton. So much food, took home many doggie bags, but its for us not the doggie. I really like this place. I just moved into this area and Im glad I found this gem. Will be back again and again.. I'm moving and think I owe them a great review after - oh - 8 years of take-out from there. Nothing fancy here, always take-out. Wings are fantastic (wish they'd add a dash of 5-spice, though), dumplings are great, whether steamed or fried, and I've never had a real complaint on the food ( I mean square wraps for mu-shu. Is that a real complaint?). Love the noodle dishes & the curry's. I don't eat the breaded, fried, sauced americanized stuff, so can't comment on those. First, I would like to commend this restaurant on their efforts to keep us protected from the Covid-19, by having in place cautionary methods to ensure safety. Next, I want the reader to understand that I normally, absolutely love to dine-in and takeout Chinese food. This experience was just not what I was expecting. We ordered $41+ of food for our family. The food was old and cold. The meats in every dish were dried and hard with exception of the Teriyaki chicken and vegetable egg rolls. The vegetables in our vegetable egg rolls was very old and smelled like old cabbage. We also ordered the sesame chicken. It was like eating cardboard covered hard fried chicken that was left out all day. It looked amazing, but when we tasted it it was very old and cold. I can not say anything about the flavor, as my teeth were instantly gorged with this "chicken". No steam came from our box's of chicken fried rice. The very thing I was expecting was not present. The vegetables came from a can. There was nothing fresh in it-no eggs no sprouts. The fried rice was bland and tasteless. If you want a flavored rice Formosa House on Quince and Kirby Parkway was the best and Benihana off Poplar-the freshest takeout. I have more places to experience and I hope they measure up. I will not be wasting any more money on this place. Reheated-absolutely the worst. We chose this restaurant based on Customer Reviews. The people were too nice. This is in fact generally modified Chinese food. Do not expect and real or near real authentic flavor for the dishes I have listed. Other than this the food had not been drained of oil. It saturated many napkins. I am absolutely sorry to have to let everyone know about this experience. I had hoped it would have been great. I've been hesitant to try food out here in the area other than BBQ. I come from Cali and I'm spoiled will diversity and flavor. I went out on a limb and tried this place. I definitely recommend. The food was really good . Cream cheese wontons to die for. The Mongolian beef had enough kick to make it delicious but not too hot. First time going here, went on the basis of other Yelper reviews. Prices were moderate/reasonable. I agree with others that it is not really a comfortable atmosphere to dine, it is better for take out. My daughter and I liked the sesame chicken a lot, very tasty. The shrimp lo mein was not that great, however. The noodles were somewhat mushy and the shrimp were mushy and "fishy' smelling, as if they were old or left to thaw in water too long. read more

The BEST Chinese food in Memphis hands down! It's hard to find good House Fried Rice here. But China Spring meets the expectation and beyond. I also had the Sweet and Sour chicken. It was excellent as well. I ordered through delivery. They safely package your food and take extra precautions. My order came sealed and even some of the boxes were sealed within the bag. This is the first time we have eaten in the restaurant. We have taken food to go before. The cashew chicken was hot & fresh & a generous, serving for only $5.50. I got wonton soup as my side. Delicious! My husband got beef, pepper & onions. Excellent, he proclaims. The restaurant was hot & the waitress was also the cashier. I think we'll stick to carry-out in the future. Is our beloved China Spring under new ownership? I have been ordering from here for 15 years and it's always been my favorite! Now lately, the last few times I've been disappointed in the quality of the food and portions. The portions are way smaller, they even use different containers now. They used to be metal containers, now they are made of all plastic, and they are much smaller. Maybe they thought we wouldn't notice? A combination meal used to last me for 3 meals! now I finish it in 1 sitting that's how small it is, and I'm not really a big eater. The General Tso chicken doesn't taste the same as before at all. There used to be whole chili peppers in it now there's none. Taste and texture are different and even the broccoli and rice are different. When you order from somewhere for 15 years and it's always on point then you notice when it changes. Higher prices, smaller portions and just mediocre food. Now that I know it wasn't just a bad day and these changes are permanent, sadly I won't be back. read more

Tried this place tonight for the first time. Clean establishment with roomy booths and tables to eat at, even though I got mine to go. The menu is your standard Chinese takeout fare. I ordered a large portion of House Special Lo Mein, and let me tell you, it was a HUGE portion! You can easily feed two people with it and still probably have leftovers. I also ordered egg rolls and crab rangoons, both very good. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my food, and for the crab rangoons, two egg rolls, and a portion of lo mein that could feed 2-3 people, I only spent $15. I love to go in, order my food, shop next door at Kroger and pick up my Chinese food on the way back to the car. It's always perfect. They don't like you to double check to make sure you have everything you ordered because they know they got it right and they always have. They do a great job! GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!! Seriously. It has THE BEST Chinese food in Memphis. It is so fresh and so tasty, and is just about the most authentic Chinese food I've had outside of actually being in China. We had the Combination platter (comes with the best fried rice and an egg roll) for both the Kung Pao Chicken and General Zso's chicken.
