Moving from white plains to ossining a few months ago, I had been unsure where to get good Chinese take out. Everyone had differing opinions of each place in town so I stayed away. I wasn't feeling well over the weekend and thought wonton soup would help. I decided to jump in a try China Ossining. I got wonton soup, brown rice and broccoli with garlic sauce on the side. The wonton soup was outstanding- I don't know why, it just was. Maybe the brain-shaped wontons? The garlic sauce also was fantastic!! Nice and hot (temperature), perfect for dipping the perfectly steamed broccoli in to. And brown rice is brown rice, can't mess that up. I was so excited and thinking 'I've found my place!!'. My mom came over last night and we decided to branch out and try them again, this time getting actual food that could not be to our liking. Sweet and sour chicken, beef in Szechuan sauce, crab rangoons and 1/2 chicken with French fries (hubbys meal). This place NAILED IT. Everything had such great flavor, and very fresh, not as if it was premade and they just warmed it up for the order. Another detail I appreciated was the REAL FRIED CRUNCHY NOODLES. Most places, if they even offer them, only give you the prepackaged, stale kind. Nope these seem to be made in house. And lastly, the woman I ordered from was so polite and friendly!!! Unfortunately I only have a few pictures from the first time I placed a simple order. But I'll be ordering in the future and will be able to add more pictures don't worry!! I used to love China Ossining. I hadn't been in a while, and maybe my memory isn't what it used to be or China Ossining isn't what it used to be. I was pretty disappointed in my lunch after having high hopes. I ordered the Szechuan shrimp lunch special. There was nothing special about this. The shrimp were so small, the size of dimes, like they came out of a can of shrimp. The sauce was not Szechuan, but a thick, sweet, brown garlic sauce. There was so much sauce dumped on the food, I had trouble seeing the food. The hot and sour soup was neither hot, sour, or spicy. The food was so hot, it was not cooked to eat in, but for delivery. It burned my mouth. You'd think the chefs would pay attention as to whether the food is being delivered or eaten right away. This was just a huge disappointment. If you like sweet Chinese food, you might like this place. I probably won't be going back. read more

Had really high hopes as am new to the area... sesame chicken was cold and soggy, lo mein largely flavorless as welll as the pork and string beans. Wonton soup also lacking in any discernible flavor which was a theme for the meal. Boneless spare ribs were very tough... very affordable, but the food showed it. I ordered a chicken and rice soup which came to $7.50 and a beef and broccoli that came to $13.70!! I also asked for mustard, hot and duck sauce and only received ketchup and duck sauce. I will NEVER order from this Chinese food place again and I am a lifelong Ossining resident. They are taking advantage of the fact that China Wok on Main Street, also in Ossining, is closed on Mondays so they seem to do whatever they want and you are stuck with the bill. In what world is this Boneless Spare Ribs? This is bone in some sauce with French Fries. If I wanted Bones with fries I would of ordered that instead. No being rude but if you don't understand when someone makes an order don't answer the phone to take the order. I guess that's what happens the one night you decide not to cook. I've been patronizing this business for many years, and up until this evening was more than satisfied with their food and their service. Tonight I asked the owner for 3 containers of homemade duck sauce instead of the 2 I have asked for in the past. I had ordered an extra quart of hot & sour soup that needs a little duck sauce for extra flavor. The owner gave me 3 and then told me he was going to charge me $2 extra. He complained that prices were going up. I said I was spending more money there. I can't tell a person how to run their business. I told him if he charged me an extra $2 for one small container of duck sauce I wouldn't be back. He told me he didn't care about my business. I thought I'd share this with our community. read more

I've given this place a few chances but every experience is bad. I ordered 4 shrimp egg rolls. There was possibly one shrimp divided between 4 rolls. They should be called cabbage rolls, not shrimp rolls. The egg drop soup contained very little egg. It should be called broth. The lo mein and fried rice is tasteless. Absolutely terrible. read more

I love China ossining ! There are times where they can be a bit stingy on the sauces but other than that best spot for Chinese food. This is our go too. Kids have been customers here for a couple of years, as this is where their father takes them every other weekend. They constantly raved about their "Kung Fu Panda-looking" dumplings and how much they love their Egg-Fried Rice so I finally had to check it out for myself. The place is a bit of a trek for me - about 45 minutes round-trip drive - and it's sort of set back from Highland Avenue with no curb signage to direct you. In addition, Google Maps directions will send you to the other side of the road. So once you know where it's located, you'll need to rely on your own landmarks to find it. The place is definitely more for take-out than eat-in. It's a small 'hole in the wall' with just enough room to go in, get your drink and pick up your food. I love that I can see right into the kitchen from the counter as I am able to watch as the food is being prepared. The place is run by a young couple: he does all of the cooking and she does all of the rest. They are very friendly and patient. I once witnessed as the woman patiently explained different dishes to an undecided customer, and offered up recommendations based on what the client had a craving for. She was wonderful. The food itself is delicious. I will typically order sesame chicken and egg fried rice for the kids, an order of fried dumplings, and some dinner combo for myself. I've tried the General Tso's chicken - loved that it was spicy but didn't have the big chunks of hot peppers in it. Their orange chicken is also spicy and contains orange peel shavings that add flavor but I need to pick out of the plate. Sweet & Sour Chicken was cooked to perfection. Portions are very generous and prices are reasonable. They only deliver locally which is understandable considering the small staff but they do have on-line ordering, so I am able to order and the food will be ready by the time I get there. I strongly recommend this place for take out that is made well. It's worth the trip! read more

Good, cheap chinese food, with a few american dishes thrown in for good measure. They've got a positively EXTENSIVE menu, so much that you'll probably be able to get something you want even if you're EXTREMELY picky. They don't have a lot of tables; they're more of a takeaway place. Be sure to show your ossining highschool student ID if you want the discounts they offer! They're right across from the highschool, so expect to encounter highschool students there, especially on school days from 10-5. read more

This was truly the worst Chinese food I've ever tasted. My husband and I felt sick after eating and threw out the leftovers. I was heart broken to see their two young children behind the counter watching devices, which seems to be their routine. I will never go there again and I hope those children are at least loved. The hot and sour soup had no taste whatsoever. The sesame noodles were covered in a brown sauce that was disgusting. And the veggies mostly consisted of green peppers which cause gas. read more

I love this place. Been ordering from them for over 10 years. Food is always fresh, lip smacking tasty and the owners are the nicest people in the world. They remember you if you're a steady customer. Order the homemade ice tea it's definitely a must try. The only other one that comes close to this delicious tea is out in Brooklyn. Fast delivery too. I discovered this restaurant when a friend came for the weekend and wanted to go for Chinese close by. I live in Ossining now. So after that I ate there a few times and then asked for delivery a few times. I order the dumplings and ask for hot oil on the side. The last time I ordered from them, I had 7 people at my house and 6 wanted to share the dumplings. I called and asked for 3 orders of dumplings and a hot oil for each of the orders of dumplings. They asked if I wanted a free soda or wonton soup. I said neither. They brought one hot oil. I called and they sent a young man back with more and he lectured me on the price of the hot oil and that I have to specify how many I want. I said I ordered 3 and said 1 hot oil for EACH order of dumplings. I also said I didn't want a can of soda or a free wonton soup, I just wanted them to get the hot oil right. He repeated his lecture. Never again. I don't want to be lectured to by someone half my age and told how expensive hot oil is. I now order from Hunan Wok in Croton-on-Hudson. They not only send me oil, but send LOTS of it. I guess they must know a less expensive way to get it or care about their customers more. Shame I can't continue to patronize my local establishment. read more

Despite its dingy appearance, actually great Chinese takeout. Friendly service and excellent staples, namely the sweet and sour chicken and what appear to be handmade/homemade steamed dumplings. Used to go here a lot, has the best Chinese food I've had in Ossining and I've eaten at almost all of them.

I've been eating excellent food from this place since 2008 and I have to say there is no other place that compares to this one. They have the fastest delivery, food is always hot, cooked perfectly and orders are exactly as ordered. Some of the other places I have ordered from won't get my order right and that kind of annoys me, especially when I'm ordering about $20-30 of food. China Ossining has never disappointed me and I like to order from them at least once or twice a week. Make sure you order their homemade iced tea. It is made really strong/sweet and comes in a HUGE styrofoam cup that keeps it cold for a long time and it's only $1.75-$2. My top 3 favorites from here are their chicken lo mein, general tsao's chicken and their sweet and sour chicken (the sauce is on the side, not poured over the chicken to get soggy by the time it gets to your house like I've had at another local place). They have great service and when you call in they have your address stored to your number so it's always a fast order on the phone and again they get your order perfectly as you asked for it. Their drivers are very friendly too! The inside of the restaurant is what you would expect of a Chinese place across the street from a high school, not saying it's bad it's just the tables have been worn down by the students which is inevitable, not their fault.
