So, my Husband and I came here because we both really wanted Chinese food for lunch but didn't want to wait for Kentucky because we were still an Hour out or so. Long story short... we should have waited. I usually don't like to leave bad reviews. I really don't. I feel sad and like a miserable person when I do. However I would really just like to Tell the truth. We ordered $86.00 worth of "Food". I have NEVER not finished a General Tsos chicken meal IN MY LIFE. My Husband ordered Lo- Mein.... Didn't eat his EVEN! I have NEVER, EVER seen my Husband NOT eat his Lo- Mein. The sauce with the General Tsos was not spicy, but tasteless. And the Chicken was... Weird. It was like Crispy Chicken, but hard in some spots but then tasted like Dry, and Overcooked but still, chewy and tasteless. (I'm so sorry to leave this Bad review. I really am) The Cheese Wontons were Great!! The Sweet and Sour Chicken was Great as Well!! The Vegetable Fried Rice was delicious!! The spring rolls were.... okay. The prices... Eh. Not Great. That's part of the reason why we stopped... but then when we got here it was a different story. The girl at the counter was little... I don't know the word for it... Off-Put? We didn't know how to feel. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side. They DO have Highchairs, and a bathroom. I did not go in the bathroom. The place isn't really for eating in.... If you do, they don't really have A/C. So my Husband and I were sweating bullets lol. I think next time, my Hubby and I will just wait until Middlesboro... But thank you, anyways and again... I'm Sorry. My Recommendations: -The cheese wontons, sweet and sour chicken and vegetable fried rice- if You have to eat something. - DON'T eat inside... no Air Conditioning and it's very HOT. -Look at the updated price list, not the old one! Man, this place slams down the gauntlet at a good bite at a good price. I recently relocated to Maynardville. Food City is my grocery store of choice, so I drove to the local one and kind of scoped stuff out. There's a small strip mall next to the Food City, and one business there is China One. I popped in maybe my second or third visit over to Food City. Got some of that Sweet n Sour Chicken. And it was just how I like it... breaded, fried, with ample sauce and a side of rice. Man. It slayed and fulfilled. Popped in again and got the sesame chicken. Again, hit the spot. Was a lunch portion and I swear it was two meals worth, all for less than a Ten. The folks are nice, and the menu expansive. I hope to try much more if this once, soon! read more

My husband ordered chicken chow mein, it was a bowl full of vegetables and water, very little chicken and tasteless. I had General Tso's Chicken and it was just ok. The sauce was nothing special, the brocolli was tough and not cooked. Nothing to brag about for sure. The restaurant was filthy looking, the restroom will give me nightmares. We will never return. This place is clean, family owned/operated, friendly, and cooks everything fresh on the spot to your order. Great food. Perhaps the best Hot And Sour soup I have ever had. My wife loves the Curry Beef (Not on the menu, but they'll be happy to make it for you.) I like the Moo Shoo Pork, the Twice Cooked Pork, and the Mongolian Beef. The Pan Fried Dumplings are terrific, and the Egg Rolls and Spring Rolls are also good. (This is what we've tried. My bet is you'll find most everything to your liking.) They have limited dine-in space, I believe four 4-tops. Most of their business is take-out. I partake in both. A table is usually always available. For dine-in you still place your order at the counter. Negatives for dine-in are: lack of dine-in restaurant ambiance; no fountain soda drinks, just bottled; cheap, very flimsy plastic utensils; those small flimsy steel-dispenser napkins that I personally hate. Also, for some, lack of an all-you-can-eat buffet may hold you back but, for me, China One's freshly cooked, delicious offerings beat that standard-fare-sitting-around-in-warming-tray-stuff every time. (Way better than Red Door in Tazewell, for example.) If you are looking for freshly cooked, great tasting Chinese food -- China One fits the bill. read more

Changed owners and now the food is terrible. We got general tso chicken and the hibachi shrimp with egg roll. The chicken was soggy and was covered in a sauce made with ketchup and syrup. 1st time my husband didn't finish a lunch size general tso. Egg roll has a funny taste and was bland. 1st time I didn't finish an egg roll. Shrimp was covered in syrup. Dumped the whole thing in garbage. Well, I guess you get whatever you get from a place like this. China One used to be decent and you would think that in the time of Covid with restaurants struggling, they would strive to be better. I ordered a couple of things, one being the Mongolian Beef. What I received was a box of onions with 5 or 6 (seriously) slivers of meat. When I called, they were very argumentative telling me the "chef" said it was good so basically it was too bad. It was $9.50 for just this dish, and what I asked for was 1/2 of the money refunded for just that dish. The girl on the phone was talking to 2 people in the background who were not speaking English, but were getting noticeably more annoyed with me. She told me that they said that I would not be getting my money back, told me that I was a bad person, and hung up on me. I really shouldn't have expected anything less, but I feel like you should get what you pay for. We have had this item many times before and it was fine. If you can't afford make the dish properly, then take it off the menu. The rest of the food here is subpar at best. So if you're looking to satisfy that Chinese food craving, wait until you're in town. read more

Bad news Maynardville, this restaurant is under new ownership. We ordered several dishes. Let me review. The pork dumplings: we ordered them crispy but they were soggy. We fried them more at home. They just didn't have any flavor. The dipping sauce just tasted like sugar. It's soy sauce based. We got the wonton soup, just bland, not edible. We ordered the hot and sour soup and it too was bland. Yes, it felt spicy hot on the palette, but no flavor. I added rice vinegar to no avail. The sweet and sour chicken is all batter, just slivers of chicken inside. Appears to be real white meat chicken. This is kind of normal for many restaurants. Finally, the garlic chicken. I get this because no matter where I go it's edible. In this case, the ingredients were good, broccoli was just right, nice chicken too. But again the flavor was gone. Just tasted very sweet with a little bit of mouth burning. I ate here a couple years ago and it was great to have a nice place way out here. The food has always been delicious here. The egg rolls are tasty and the noodles are great! The eating area is small but always clean.

We eat China One at least once a week. My daughter always wants the lo mein noodles with chicken. I usually get garlic chicken or general tsos chicken. Food is pretty good and the quality is consistent. Good, quick, and convenient place to get pretty decent Chinese food. read more

My husband and I just moved to the town and try to find a Chinese restaurant that we like. We find one until we find this place. The place is clean and the workers are very nice. We ordered beef teriyaki with fresh vegetables. It's so yummy. And bourbon chicken and sesame chicken which we like so much. We will come back more often. read more

I always order from here whenever mom & I are in the mood for Chinese.. before, we'd always either have to go through the freezer to see what we have or drive at least 30 minutes into fountain city to dynasty express (which are good too)... but so glad China One is only 5 minutes from the house... no matter what or how much we order, it's always 10 minutes & they have it waiting on us hot, fresh, & ready... we REALLY love this place & hope they stay open forever :) read more
