The temperature needed to be raised at least 15° too, it was a bit on the colder side. However, the Man, and Woman running this place were not too friendly at all. The food was cold and had no flavor. But there's a microwave to heat up for food. There was no service, only a friendly lady at the front who took our money. Made a stop here for dinner with a large tour group (about 50 people). The pricing for us was $13 per person for food and drinks. There was a pretty decent selection of food. They had all the typical food you'd find at a regular Chinese buffet such as kung pao chicken, noodles, fried rice, egg drop soup, and dumplings. What surprised me was that they also had mini Mongolian grill (make you own plate and they bring the food out to you), some sushi (didn't looks so tasty), and even ice cream. Service was good, they kept our tables clear and our drinks full. The restroom had a strange smell in it that was unappetizing, so steer clear of that side of the restaurant. Overall I am satisfied with my meal, however not sure I would recommend this place to others when there are other options near by. For some reason, we tend to find Asian buffets all around the country. This was a really good one! Way more foods to try then most buffets. Still not many veggies but there were 3 dishes with broccoli and then green beans which are usually standard. More foods and each was pretty darn good. Hard to do with so many dishes. As a snooty Chinese kid from California, I usually like to bag on Chinese buffets (while secretly loving me some greasy buffet orange chicken) but this place is pretty good, especially considering where it is. The place is kept relatively clean, the staff is attentive and will regularly check if you need more tea or drinks, and there's a decent variety of dishes. The food is relatively fresh for your average Chinese buffet although the sushi and BBQ items aren't quite up to par- the sushi was probably out for a few hours and so the colors were a bit faded, and the BBQ meats were a bit dried out from the heat lamp. I didn't get sick or anything though, so don't be too worried. All in all, pretty solid. read more

We went to eat there because I was visiting my sister and wanted some Chinese food. I liked the food, they have a huge selection and the waiter was nice, she cleared our plates every time we got up. The price was good too, we didn't pay more than 19 $ for two people. The quality is not excellent, but ok. They could clean around the buffet a little bit more, since many people got food, a lot was laying around the trays at the buffet. But since we went after the lunchtime the battle had already been fought. The decor is pretty old, more out of the 80's, but the food is important. I can recommend it. I wish I could give it more but lately the food has been less and less on quality. Most food is burnt or rubbery, their sushi selection is kind of crap and it looks super unappealing. China king buffet is the worst place I have ever had a meal. There are no prices posted, almost all food seems halfway cooked, and it's like they leave the food out all day. Based on everything from the restaurant's location, its completely generic and corny name, and my recent (traumatizing) experiences eating americanized chinese food in the surrounding states (tours, go figure), I was prepared for the worst upon entering this place. However, this place was actually shockingly really good (hence the 5 star rating), even pretty decent by california americanized asian food standards, at least the day when I went to eat there. It was wayyyy better than the other chinese places that I had been forced to eat in WY and the neighboring states. I enjoyed the chicken skewers, dumplings, fried rice, chicken wings, and other common americanized asian buffet foods. The dishes were at proper temperatures. Some of the other places I had been to couldn't even cook rice that wasn't hard as rocks. The staff brought soda fountain drinks to our table and actually cleared away used dishes, which was an extremely rare occurrence during my visits to other chinese buffets in the area. And while the cleanliness of the place was average, it was still much cleaner than any of those other places. Maybe I happened to come here on a particularly good day, maybe it was an anomaly, but China King is probably the best Chinese restaurant in WY and the surrounding states...right here in Gillette. read more

What can I say? I am a sucker for a good deal, friendly service, and good food. The China King Buffet has all the above. The only criticism I have is that the place could really use a good cleaning. The food is fresh, hot, tasty, and plentiful. The atmosphere is very casual. You can not feed a family of 4 in this town or any other town for less than $25 with drinks included. The staff are all very friendly. If you like Chinese food, then this is the place to go. I highly recommend this place! My favorite place in town. Cheaper than a combo meal at almost any fast food, you can walk in and feed yourself almost instantly. Also the hibachi is about the healthiest food around in a world of fat greasy food ( which they also have if you are in the mood ). A plate of shrimp, chicken, or beef; with vegetables sautéed in a few sauce choices, can be as healthy as you want to make it, or you can add pasta. The staff is apathetic. This is a buffet but don't expect to see a waitress after you are seated. I had to get my own drinks refilled. No one came by the entire time I was rhere. The food is not up to the standards that I recall seven years ago. The cashier was busy shopping for shoes on the Internet when I went to pay my bill. She seemed annoyed that I was interrupting her. The food was surprisingly good. If you like spicy they have a lot and label it. Plus many that are not spicy. They have multiple soups, many chicken and shrimp dishes, salad bar, and hibachi. Full deserts including cakes, ice creams and sherbets and Hershey syrup, fruits, and much more. Good buffet. For gluten free they also have rice noodles. The baked seafood was one of our favorites. I suggest staying away from the sushi and I was disappointed that they don't have chocolate ice cream, so I got cookies and cream. They are missing expensive items like salmon and roast beef. There is a huge selection plus sushi and hibachi grill. They even have a large cake and cookie selection with hand dipped ice cream and topping choices.
