I'll just post a short review. This place was recommended and it's is good priced and the food is definitely worth the trip to American Fork. The owner doesn't speak English and his daughter communicates okay but was a little confused when I showed her the 10% off Yelp discount. I told her it didn't bother me and to not worry about it, but she kept telling me how sorry she was and kept asking me to help them get it off the website. The food comes in big portions and the side order of ham fried rice is enough for two people. Honestly the best Chinese place I've found in Utah. I work weekends and go there for their General Tso's chicken every Saturday and Sunday as they are near my work. Maybe once in 3 or 4 months of doing this have I had chicken that wasn't good. I'm really not exaggerating, this place is great. Their curry chicken is also fantastic, I haven't tried much else. Honestly I would probably give this a 3 anywhere else, but besides Pei Wei/PF Changs, this is the best Chinese food I have had in Utah. I ordered the Crab Cheese Wontons and General Tso's Chicken. I'm not sure how this voting pool was selected or what ailment the voters were suffering from (or maybe the choices in the UC really are that limited), but I am willing to proclaim China Isle as the best Chinese place within a half mile of my work. today I ordered the kung pow three ingredients. I didn't ask what the three ingredients were at any point, but it seems like they must have been referring to shrimp, chicken, and beef. the dish wasn't as spicy as I would have liked, but it was tasty and had lots of fresh vegetables. all of the lunch specials cost around $6 and come with soup and an egg roll or paper wrapped chicken. I like the hot and sour soup, but find it kind of strange that they put crispy chow mein noodles in it. also, China Isle definitely wins the award for weird service. not good or bad, just weird. The staff is great though they have my order ready and in the all the times I've come with multiple to go orders they haven't messed it up once, gotta love it. Chinese food is my favorite and I've eaten a lot of it over the years! For Utah, this is one of the best places to find your favorite Chinese entrees. I have eaten just about all the items on the menu and I would recommend any of them. They are all good. Specific Praises: **The Won Ton Soup is the best I have had anywhere. It has the right flavor and contains a healthy amount of Won Tons, pork, vegetables, and shrimp. **The bean dishes, especially with shrimp are very good. It is difficult to get beans cooked just right but the cooks in this place know how to do it. Same with the broccoli dishes. I have never had slimy, overcooked broccoli in this place. **The noodles are luscious, both pan fried and normal. **All the chicken dishes are delectable. Try any of them and be happy. Specific Complaints: **For some reason, on certain days, the Won Ton soup does not taste normal. I have eaten at this restaurant around 25 times and each time I order the Won Ton Soup. About 3 or 4 of those times, the soup tasted flat and too peppery. Different cook...? Tips: **The staff in this place are very great and helpful. When I think of Chinese food, usually the last place I think of is Utah County. It is so bad there that Panda Express was voted best Chinese takeout, I don't even know what to do with that, I wouldn't be surprised if they voted McDonald's the best BBQ in the County, I mean who doesn't love the McRib? Outside of PF Chang's you will be hard-pressed to find quality Chinese food, notice I didn't say impossible. China Isle on 5th East in American Fork serves up some of my favorite Chinese food and for a very reasonable price. The ambience isn't as interesting or fun as a lot of other Chinese restaurants, in fact it is a little plain, but the food is tasty. I have heard some rumblings about the service, while I mostly order takeout I have always been pleased with my dine-in experiences. My favorite meal at most Chinese restaurants is the Sesame Chicken with fried rice and China Isle dishes up a winner, if I had to rank their Sesame Chicken I would put it second best, trailing only Sampan. The Sesame Chicken has a nice crispy breading with a sweet sauce that doesn't overwhelm the taste-buds. The chicken tastes extremely fresh and always tastes as if it just came out of the fryer but without a hint of grease. One of the other must haves, from the Starters portion of the menu, is the paper wrapped chicken. The paper wrapped chicken is oh so tender with flavor flowing freely, I highly suggest ordering it as I am willing to bet you will enjoy it as much as me. While I enjoy the Sesame Chicken there are many other dishes to choose from, sporting a lengthy menu along with the good prices you should have no trouble finding the meal that is right for you. So if you are looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Utah County, let me suggest China Isle, if you do I would love to hear what you think in the comments. read more

My husband and I went here because everyone was talking about how amazing and good it is. So we finally went out and tried it and to be honest guess I was expecting more... First off the service was terrible. All the tables were full, except one that hadn't been cleared yet. So they hurried and cleared it and sat us. I'm not really sure who are waiter or waitress was I kinda felt forgotten in the corner. Took forever to get our order in. Who we ordered too was brought out by someone different. Waited forever for a check which was eventually brought out by someone different than those other two. Always it was super obnoxious the owners had there kids (I think) sitting at the table next to us. They had ordered them like Burger King and multiple waitresses would go over there eat some of the food and go back to work. The kids were playing with toys and laying on there ground. While we were trying to enjoy our meal I felt as if I couldn't because my attention was on the two kids that weren't being watched. Now the food, the food was alright. I'd PF Changes is better. It's the same set up as them though where they bring the plates out of it and you can kinda share it with everyone at your table. That means no discount for travelers like us. the Egg Flour soup had wired color (artificial yellow?) and did not taste real Chinese (more like some poorly made plain broth or even out of box?). The Chicken with Spicy Garlic Sauce was not spicy and had no garlic taste or aroma of it. It tasted vinegar and sugar with soy sauce color. We wanted to have a good Chinese food for dinner during a long road trip (12 hours) but it was very disappointing. I don't know how this place got this high average rating!? I only sampled two dishes from the menu but that was very poor experience for us. The other reviews are pretty accurate. The food is typical chinese for the area. Nothing terribly inspired, but not bad either. I'd give them about 3.5 stars. My biggest admiration is the SPEED they serve you. I've eaten here at least 30 times in the past 4 years, always at lunchtime. I've actually timed them a few times. From the time you sit and order, to when you get your soup takes about 45-60 seconds. Then your entree is ready within 2-3 minutes. I usually haven't finished my Egg Drop soup before my entree is already there. Orange Chicken, Lemon Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and General Tao's Chicken are my favorites. Waited almost 2 hours past my pick up time. They never updated anyone on the extra long wait past the pick up time. I was ok with a bit of a wait because it was Christmas but 2 hrs is crazy. Setting the tone : Christmas Day and my family and I have made reservations for 17 people for 4pm. We get there at 4 and they weren't prepared for us quite yet, which is understandable, they seemed very busy. We didn't get seated till about 4:35 and it took someone 15 min before they took our drink orders. After we placed our orders they were pretty inconsistent with what was ready and when, we didn't get our tea till after we had gotten over half of our food (it was cold too) and they missed 3 orders of wontons. We had to ask for some trays of food to be heated up and even after that they were still cold. They seemed really busy but also just unorganised and stressed out, their servers were yelling and it just wasn't a very joyful Dinner. Tonight however, I ordered a to go dinner entree which is basically the lunch entree except you pay $3.50 more and you get a fried shrimp and some paper wrapped chicken. After my order was finished I asked them if everything was in there they told me yes. I drove all the way home only to find out that they gave me a lunch entree. I paid $3.50 more for nothing.
