My family and I have been coming to this place for close to 30 years--back when they were tucked next to the Outback Steakhouse on University Parkway. They've moved locations a few times since then, but the food is still absolutely spot-on. The lunch buffet is where it's at. The black bean chicken is my personal go-to--savory, bold, with that perfect hit of umami that keeps you coming back for more. Their egg drop soup is also delicious. It's basically warm, silky comfort in a bowl. And weirdly enough, their Coke is next-level. I don't know if it's the syrup ratio or the ice or some secret Utah magic, but it has just the right bite and fizz. I've thought about it more than I should. Nice little spot. We came super early, very fist people to get inside the restaurant, so we got a good seat and plenty of fresh food. Ordered delivery. First off, their website will not allow you to add an item to the cart unless you check a box asking to substitute steamed rice, to fried rice. That was an extra $2. So I got scammed there. Three bites into the dish and my stomach said no. What I received looks like it has been in a buffet line for a couple of days and maybe stirred around a little every couple of hours. It looks old and it tasted old. Another $14 down the drain. I continue to stare at it and know without a doubt that it was not prepared fresh. This kind of stuff pisses me off because the restaurant knows we don't really have any recourse to get a full refund. How this place has as many stars as it does boggles my mind. read more

This restaurant has excellent food and a great lunch buffet. It's hard to choose a favorite, because everything tastes so delicious, but If I had to choose only one or two items, then it would be their lemon chicken and the chicken in a black bean sauce. Their egg rolls are crispy and are a great treat. Although I am not generally a soup lover, I do enjoy their soups. It's not a fancy restaurant, but it's clean, the staff is friendly, and the service is good. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Chinese cuisine. I have now been going to this restaurant for more than twenty years, and they still have the best Chinese food anywhere, including on the east and the west coast here in the USA and even in mainland China. read more

They came out it wouldn't be that hard to make home made egg rolls, with some garlic, ginger...lukewarm nonetheless. Strange. 2 for $4 they are spring rolls. I ordered some takeout from here for lunch yesterday and I was very happy with the experience. I ordered over the phone and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, when I got there they immediately brought it out. It seemed like it just was finished being prepared! I just ordered the chicken lo mein, and it was such a big portion that I even had leftovers. The chicken had great flavor and there was a good mix of veggies. The prices were a bit more expensive than the last menu pictures on here, so that was a little shocking. Still not bad prices though. I'll definitely be coming back again since my work is so close! read more

We ordered the appetizer sampler, egg flower soup, orange chicken, lemon chicken, and sesame chicken and the food was all so good! I had zero complaints about every dish. Even the appetizer's items were each so delicious. The service was also perfect. We were greeted immediately, sat immediately, our order was taken right away and our food came out quick. The staff was very nice as well. Absolutely coming back to try more things on the menu. I wouldn't say this is a bad thing, but the sesame chicken was sweeter than I expected. Amazing Chinese food. The best in Utah I have ever had. We got the General Tso's chicken and the Beef Lo-mein. Both were fantastic. . Our waitress was very nice and seemed to speak amazing English. She made sure we always had water and everything was taken care of. I took one star off because it's definitely a little bit dirty. I personally did not mind but I could see where many people could. Rice was old and dry. Broccoli beef, the beef was borderline flavorless. No beefy flavor. The Pork in Garlic Sauce was bland, not spicy, not garlicky. Tasted like they just used the day old char siu pork. Pan fried noodles were tasty, but the shrimp was mushy. Seseme Chicken was bland. You needed to get lots of sauce in a bite to make it worth it. My siblings live in utah and they've been coming here for over a decade. They love it here. The owners are incredibly kind and friends to them. The food is made fresh and keeps trickling in during each hour. Whether it's sweet and sour chicken, chicken wings, beef stir fry, king pao chicken, pork ribs, fried wontons, egg rolls, fried rice, chow mein, white rice - the food is fresh and made in batches. The buffet price is very cheap and the quality of food is great. I'm always excited when I visit utah and get to visit here with my siblings. It's a good feeling to visit here and support a restaurant that is locally owned and operated - they are very hardworking folks and the food is also great. Just note that this place gets pretty crowded during lunch hour, even on a weekday. read more

Dinner stop on a quick overnight. Just one other table dining with the beauty of the mountains in the forefront of room and NFL on a lone TV and the buffet line for lunch crowd in rear. Lots of tables and booths fill the rectangular room. Super nice waitress. It took a minute for someone to appear as the checker was on break as we passed her by front door on way in. Took menus and sat down as waitress came from kitchen to reassure us to sit anywhere. 3.5* Beef Chow Fun "Flat Noodle", a wide flat rice noodle stir fried with onions green and white, beansprouts, and protein. It had decent char flavor and just tad overdone noodles. Serving size could satisfy one fairly hungry chap. My 19yr old polished it off just right. 2.5* Sizzling Chicken filled the cast iron plate, definitely hot but the heat could of set the plate alight had there been some carmelization on the tender whitw white chicken. Mild garlic and not much else in this sauce's flavoring department. Could use some soy and oyster sauce. We asked for the flaked chili oil but got the garlic chili sauce which helped along with some soy. Less usual bok choy and snow peas accompanied the regulars, broccoli zucchini celery red peppers and water chestnuts. Peas were over but others still crisp, but again boo hoo on the saucy sin. We were visiting town on business, and decided to try some Chinese food, as our town doesn't have great Chinese food. We were not disappointed. Despite ordering online and having our meal delivered to our hotel, the order was correct, and still hot. Our meal was exactly what we hoped for. The food was well prepared and portions generous. I would give it 3 stars if that was all I had. Not the worst option if you're a quantity over quality person, but that's probably the nicest thing I can say about it. Great China has been our favorite Chinese restaurant in Utah Valley for over a decade. Our favorite item is the chicken fried and seasoned with jalapeño. The only catch is it's only available during the lunch buffet. You can still order it on the side without going to the buffet. Also, for the lunch buffet which is really cheap, you get a free drink. We also love the house special fried rice with shrimp and chicken. The chicken lo mein and beef and broccoli are popular dishes at our house. With your entree, you also get yummy egg drop soup. read more

Let's be honest, there aren't many great Chinese buffets around. Is this one great? No. But is it good enough that I would return? Yes. It is to be noted that the buffet is only for lunch. And soft drinks are included if you want. Service was decent. And the crowd was enough that fresh food kept coming out, which was nice. Although not a lot of items, most of them are quite decent. The spring rolls were really good. The vegetables were cooked nice where they still had a little crunch to them. The rice and different noodles were good as well. The soups were actually not my favorite. But I guess you can't have it all. Overall, average. But average on the good end. read more

How was this place I bet you are asking... or why else would you be reading this review? I am actually very confused why anyone reads my reviews because they are in such poor taste. I have been to this place twice and here is what they get right. Fried rice, chow mein, and their sides. Cream cheese wontons have great flavor and their sweet and sour sauce pairs oh so well. The spring rolls may be a little too mushy on occasion in the middle but I like it. Main dishes are hit and miss and the good news is a miss is like... still decent. I have never thought oh my gosh this is disgusting spit it out. They are all safe dishes. This recent experience we had the cashew chicken and the broccoli beef. Broccoli beef was on point. Soaked broccoli yet still well cooked and crunchy. Cashew chicken... actually, I am pretty sure it was kung pao. Which is probably the worst insult you can have for kung pao. Not spicy not seasoned particularly well... but still a decent meal. I like it despite the fact I would have liked it more had it been more kung pao. THE VERDICT: My review is harsh but, "with great power comes great responsibility" - John Mellencamp. This is probably one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area that is cranking out yummy food at an affordable price. It's such a random little hole in the wall but I'm so glad we found this place. The portions are HUGE and the food is cheap. It's fried to perfection. Also don't skip the egg rolls they are BOMB! Feign, our cute waitress is always so nice and brings out the food speedy quick! Been here a few times now! We have tried something new every time. We've noticed it's best to go late on a weeknight when everything is made super fresh to order. My husband always eats my egg drop soup because I am not a fan. Came here based on the above-average reviews but I came during dinnertime and found out the buffet is only for lunch. Not sure if that would have been any better (the buffet area looked relatively small). Based on some other reviews, I decided to get the beef broccoli and sweet & sour pork. The prices are reasonable but things started to go south as soon as the egg drop soup was delivered. It was near jello consistency (even the drips down the side of the cup weren't running it was so thick). The taste was strange and unpleasant (and I don't expect much from egg drop soup). Next up were egg rolls. They had a bitter aftertaste (although the outside was nice & crispy). I needed to use a lot of the sauce to choke it down. Unpleasant and strangely, the vegetables inside were covered with the same gelatinous goo as was in the egg drop soup). Luckily, the main courses were better if not stellar. The sweet & sour sauce on the pork was a nice flavor but the pork was super tough and was so bathed in sauce that it overwhelmed all other elements of the dish. The beef broccoli had great flavor, tons of sauce with an undercurrent of garlic flavor throughout. The broccoli was not overcooked thankfully with a good crunch but the beef was a bit rubbery and the only flavor was the massive sauce on everything. read more

All you can eat lunch and drinks for like $7.50? Yes, thank you. The service there is good. It's always pretty full so it helps the food stay fresh during lunch time. Did I mention it's all you can drink too? I go here like once every 1-2 weeks. I love the Beijing chicken, the soups, and the egg rolls. A good mix of everything else divvied between 2 full plates usually hits the spot. my husband and i always eat here, they do make things wrong sometimes but im able to let it slide. the other day we ordered lomein & i saw a long hair in it, i was disgusted but got some reason i decided to inspect it, and i found more hair in the food. i can see 1 hair was probably an accident but finding more than 3 hairs in my food does not seem accidental. i am completely disgusted. we spend so much money on this order just to throw it all away. The day I went to enjoy a evening dinner I came away totally disappointed with who ever was cooking that evening. My meal was supposed pork and noodles with some veggies. What I got was Extremely dried out pork that tasted like leather dispersed in a mountain of noodles with extremely few slivers of carrots, onion, with occasionally a piece of celery, and cabbage. I came away very,Very, disappointed because I have always enjoyed the lunch buffet for years. Before the very disappointing meal I had to ask for a menu after sitting at my table for 5 minutes to even order and the place was not that busy. Overall I doubt if I will ever try any dinner Items there again until I know their back to the standards I remember from past times of coming in with friends.
