I've been eating Chinese food from the same restaurant for years and wanted to try a different spot. I really miss the Dragon that was in Sumter many years ago; that was the absolute best Chinese restaurant ever, but things change. Anyhow, people kept telling me about China House, so we had to give it a try. Wanting to keep it simple, we got the Chicken fried rice, shrimp fried rice, and egg rolls. Maybe next time I'll try the chicken but wanted to keep it simple. I called in my order and was shocked when I was given the price. Three items for $30.00,..lol when I walked into the restaurant the first thing I did was picked up the menu and eventually saw that the prices had changed... it made sense now. Instead of the rice being $7.50 like it said online (the menus were old), it was $9.75, so mystery solved..lol. The rice was delicious; we tried saving some for the next day, but that didn't work. Everything was gone the same night. I love their yellow fried rice. Both the chicken and shrimp fried rice were fresh and delicious. The egg rolls were good, but the rice was spectacular. I made sure to include the updated menus just in case you call in and get shocked by the price lol! But I definitely recommend trying them out. read more

I have been to the China House a few times and been reasonably happy with overall quality of the food. I would not even suggest eating in, I actually am very disappointed with how the seating area looks. I also was even more grossed out by the bathroom when I went in to just wash my hand! Before I just called in and ordered whatever I got, but this time I decided to order when we got there. When I was ready the person behind the counter decided to answer the phone when I clearly asked if I could order now. Instead of having the caller wait to take my order she took the callers. Food was fairly good this time, I got a small vegetable fried rice and it was really packed into the container. I also got a small wonton soup which was very tasty, with loads of wontons in it and a rich savory broth. The place may be dirty on the inside but the food is pretty good, so if you want some solid Chinese food, go here, just take it home to eat it. read more

While the service is fast and the food is hot, they are now ripping people off. If you use your debit card they are charging and extra 3.5% per transaction. I asked why and was told that the bank charges them that. I told him that is a lie that and this is pure Greed! Banks do not charge this per transaction for this restaurant to be charging each customer this fee. I will not be back. They are ripping off the community that keeps them in business. read more

The restaurant is very small, so don't expect to bring a large group in. The cashier seemed friendly enough and place didn't look dirty from what I can remember. I went all out and bought the "seafood delight" plate for $10.95. It was good, but for the amount I got it seemed a bit expensive. (I think I made it last for three or four meals though) The squid looked like it was the dried, packaged stuff you can buy at grocery stores, but all the other meats were good. Obviously the crab was stick-style imitation crab, the jumbo shrimp and scallops were good and there was also mussels or clams added in it (It wasn't listed for the plate's ingredients) I'll definitely order from this restaurant again to try out their other items. read more

I can't find a lot of faults with the selections I ordered when it comes to the quality, speed presentation,& overall preparedness of the food. But I marked them down for the flavor of the sauces. I know it's a personal opinion but I've been to a lot of Chinese places on three different continents. The sweet and sour sauce tasted like a melted lollipop. General T'so sauce was very bland. When I walked in it was no greeting to start with. I also noticed that the floor was covered in ants. I got my food in a decent amount of time. When I got my food I asked for duck sauce and the lady gave me 2 packs only. When I got home and started eating my food I noticed a long string of black hair in my rice. This place is kind of out of the way in the shopping center by the Food Lion. it had a small seating area but we got it to go any way. I had mai fun with shirmp. It was extremely delicious! I just love rice noodles and hadn't found a dish that had them as the main ingredient until I found this. The serving was big so I saved half of it for the next day. I dropped in here for lunch 5 for 6 years ago. I ordered some beef dish (not fried), and when it arrived I was unable to eat it. I understand many Chinese restaurants use cheap cuts of beef that's heavily marinated in their dishes, but this beef was absolutely disgusting.. The whole dish was cheap, including the soggy wilted broccoli. I took the dish to the young lady at the counter and told her I couldn't eat it. The only things I could guarantee anybody would like from here are their General Tso's Chicken and Crab Rangoon! I like other stuff from here too but the thing it it taste almost the same as everything else. Their vegetables are always fresh which is a definite plus!
