We're visiting from San Diego, CA. My father ordered the Mongolian Beef and I had the Shrimp with Lobster sauce. The Mongolian Beef was acceptable, however the Shrimp with lobster sauce was quite a bit different from what I am used to. First of all, it was covered with some type of gelatinous food product I had never seen, I thought that maybe the dish had chilled and had congealed. It all tasted okay. But when I took my leftovers home and reheated it the gelatinous material did not liquefy, to which I still do not know what it was. I ended up rinsing out the gunk and was left with shrimp and CHICKEN meat! I don't remember Shrimp with lobster sauce having chicken in it. read more

Stopped here for a quick food fix. The Boneless chicken with yellow gravy was great. Nice crispy outside nice soft chewy center. Owners are super friendly and the kitchen and prep areas are really clean. Highly recommend this place. read more

I used to work at this restaurant back in 1981. The family that opened it was so good to me. I'm back in Sumter after 40 years of being away and had to stop by to have some Chinese food at my favorite place. It did not disappoint. Was SO good. Visited Friday 2/18/22. We ordered our meals. We were told it would be 20-25 minutes. I arrived within 15 minutes and was given the meal. The pork fried rice was terriable. It had a very heavy soy sauce taste. There was nothing pleasant about the fried rice. The chicken wings were not crispy at all, had a very mushy texture. We ordered a side order of "Sweet & Sour sauce. We paid the additional fee for the sauce but it was not in the bag when we opened it at home. So after waiting several months for them to rebuild and reopen I finally went on a Wednesday night. Unlike the last time I went the place is shiny and new inside. Fairly normal sized buffet but the whole time I was there the food was either out or I had to wait for them to bring out more. I mean really just keep cooking egg roles and sweet and sour chicken. The sauces looked and tasted kinda old too me. When they did bring out more, I liked the taste, but for $22 per person it is not a good deal. The ham fried rice was very bland and not tasty at all. Also the duck sauce for the tables had vinegar in them for some weird reason and tasted gross. Maybe wait a while for the newness to wear off and might try again. The place has been there for 31 years. Nothing I can notice about the food has changed in the 20+ years I've been eating there. Never had a bad experience. Wish there was a way to give them zero stars. Horrible place. Ordered food again after staying away for several months because they constantly screw up your orders when delivering. Well in true fashion tonight they screwed up the order forgetting 3 items. When we call they REFUSE to deliver the items they forgot because they said it "costs gas" to bring us the food. So they want to give credit for your next order, like we are ever going back again. The food they did deliver was horrible and most of it went in the garbage. The best Place for Chinese food in Sumter. Their food is excellent and owners are very nice. My spouse and I have been patrons here for over 15 years and we go at least twice a month. We never have we been disappointed. But, they will close a few minutes early some nights which does upset me:( So, if you want take out don't wait until the last 15 minutes! My wife and I have been going to China Palace for 20 years. Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mandarin Orange chicken and Beef and black bean sauce are always excellent. Always order off the menu and the servings are outstanding. Their Won Ton soup is the best that I have had on the East Coast. Fresh green onion tops, barbecued pork and ample won tons in each bowl. They also have great fried fish. A customer once ordered over the phone but didn't come to pick up the food, so I decided to have a mystery meal to help out Albert, the owner. The trays were fried fish meals which were the best fried fish that i have had in Sumter. Also, they serve Chinese Green Tea. Service is always great, food is always plentiful and hot.Prices are reasonable and serving sizes are large. Restrooms are very nice and always clean. Floors are always clean and overall restaurant is very clean. Ample parking outside and brand new restaurant which smells good and clean. I love this place. Also, the Buffet is always well stocked and on occasion, I have ordered a take out tray and have never been let down. Their egg rolls are very good and my kids love them. read more

This place is the place to go for the best Chinese food in Sumter! I've had their Mandarin Orange Chicken (my fave), egg foo yung, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, lo mein, wanton soup (eat with the noodles they bring too) and an assortment of other dishes. Don't forget hot green tea! The food is always delicious, piping hot, and satisfying. Clean restaurant, sweet people. China Palace has my vote! :) read more

This was the worst Chinese I have ever had. My husband and I ordered for pick up while we were driving to a hotel in Sumter. We were slightly concerned when we showed up at the location. When we got to our hotel and got the food out we were quite disgusted. We ordered orange chicken and fried rice. First of all we had way too much food (We had ordered enough for 2 people). Second, the orange chicken looked like KFC chicked that had been pulled apart into large pieces of chicken and covered in some sauce. It was nothing like normal orange chicken. We have lots of leftovers and will probably have to throw them away. GROSS! read more
