This place is way too underrated and don't let the exterior scare you away. The few number of reviews, most of which, are negative reviews is definitely throwing off the rating. I've driven by this restaurant probably 1000 times until I decided to take the plunge and try it out at the suggestion of a local Asian friend. This place definitely gives off a really sketchy vibe. Apparently, it used to be a KFC, which has moved to a location down the street. The interior is...well... not super clean. At least, you can see inside the kitchen from the counter and see what the cooks are doing in the back. The restaurant offers a standard fare of traditional Americanized Chinese food e.g. beef and broccoli. If you are looking for authentic Chinese, you might be better off going to Zen Garden down up the street. The portion size is ridiculously huge. It can feed two adults easily. I've only tried a few dishes here and they were all decent. The food here isn't as greasy as some of the Chinese spots that I've been to. Large combo meals are usually between 7.50 and 8.25, making this place one of the few spots in Burlington that gets you a large meal for less than 10. I definitely think this spot has the best cost to satisfaction ratio in Burlington. read more

I've eaten food from this place twice and shame on me. Fool me once: potstickers and beef teriyaki skewers. The potstickers were... unremarkable. The teriyaki, well if it was teriyaki it was the strangest I've ever had. Tasted like soy sauce and ketchup. Fool me twice: sesame chicken tasted like potsticker dipping sauce with some sesame seeds on top. Chicken was practically non existent inside copious fried batter. Some of it was just chicken skin. Shredded pork in garlic sauce again sauce was the same with no garlic flavor detected. The pork was not shredded just thin strips of rubbery pork cooked with a bunch of vegetables (no mention of vegetables on the menu). Plus there was an industrial taste, no doubt from the bamboo shoots which I hate because that's the flavor of those canned bamboo shoots (I have worked in food service and I know). The white rice seemed to have that awful strange industrial flavor as well that made me rethink the bamboo shoot theory. Overall not worth the $$. I would have paid $10 for this food but ended up paying $30. Overall I would recommend spending those $$ somewhere else. Note: no utensils, napkins or soy sauce packets not included. read more

The food is a better quality than most in the area, if you know what to get. The mei fun is excellent, and the vegetable chow mein is great (though doesn't have any noodles, it's veggies with broth and rice). Very fast, good service, and they've never gotten my order wrong. read more

A wise man once told me that the key to finding the best Chinese or Mexican food in town is to look for the place that seems like you shouldn't enter. China Express I will admit doesn't have much for curb appeal and for sure was at one point a Burger King but what it lacks outside it makes up for in the kitchen. I usually stop in for a quick lunch special and am never disappointed in the simple but delicious meals that they put together. So if you're in the area pop in and try for yourself. read more

Besides the fact the place sits alone and looks run down. This has to be the worst place I have ever ordered Chinese food from. I'm not even sure if they cooked it when I ordered because after the first few bites I was disgusted. I asked friend to try it and he was sure it tasted like it had been sitting around a while. We were hungry enough to choke it down and within a few hrs both of us were sick to our stomach badly as coming out both ends bad. Great Food, excellent service and accuracy, also communications was very good, sometimes this can be an issue with the language barrier (on both sides) but they have always been accurate with my orders. I've used this place about 20 times for take out in recent years and turned several people on to them, I almost never eat there but the place seems nice and adequate for dining in. They have the cheapest, greasiest, "horrible for you" chinese food you can get, and its amazing. ive lived a few house down from this place for about 3 years now. i never understood how this place was still in business due to the sketchy look of the place and weird hours. i swore i would never come here. i finally decided to pull the trigger the other day during the snow storm and placed an order. i walked down the street and was happy to see that the place was pretty busy. the inside was cleaner than i expected as well. probably the best chinese ive had in a while and definitely best in the area for the price and what you get, the meals are huge, probably enough for 2 or 3 people. dont let the outside fool you, for takeout chinese, this place is the real deal. read more
