One of the most expensive takeouts i've been to, but if you want seafood-dim sum quality takeout China Cafe is my go-to. Most takeouts are Americanized but this place still retains some authenticity. My favorite dishes include beef lo mein (which has more garlic than usual so it taste more like garlic noodle), egg drop soup (taste like faux shark fin soup which I love), and cantonese fried rice ( it's not on the menu, but if you ask for Cantonese style, they'd add more eggs and keep the rice light). I wasn't very adventurous here but I was extremely happy with these staple comfort foods. read more

Literally the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life! $20 in the trash. I ordered shrimp and broccoli with veg fried rice, and chicken wings. Let's start with the rice which I'm assuming was the reg steamed white rice put in a pan for 30secs with diced pea and carrots no flavor at all and still white barely browned. So I'm sitting at my office desk in NYC, clearly unsatisfied with my chinese takeout order and remembering how good China Cafe is. I've been going here for the last 15 or so years when I lived around the area and it's definitely the best chinese takeout place I've been to. For some reason, I'm convinced the quality of food is just better than your average random chinese takeout place and feels "cleaner". I've noticed the prices have increased over the years but demand still stays high (especially during lunch and dinner times) which is a clear testament to the food. The workers there have always been nothing but friendly/professional and I am surprised that some of them even recognize me from 10 years ago. Living in NYC now, its mind boggling how terrible some of the chinese takeout places are here and wish there could even be one place that makes food as good as China Cafe. read more

I work in the Woodbridge area so for lunch, China Cafe is my go to. The portion are generous and the food here has not disappointed! The prices are a tad higher than most chinese places I've been, but it compensates through how good the food is. Very clean restaurant. There is seating inside approximately eight or nine tables. The restaurant was air-conditioned and offers complementary hot oolong tea. Four of us shared an order of panfried dumplings, Singapore mei fun, chicken with mixed vegetables and a pint of noodle soup. All the food was extremely tasty and very fresh tasting. The vegetables in particular were outstanding. Very fresh ingredients. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment and I would definitely return. read more

Amazing. That pretty much sums up my experience regarding the service and the food from here. I was in the area working in Woodbridge and had to get something for delivery so I checked Yelp and my fellow Yelpers did not let me down! I ordered the Pepper Steak combo platter and they customized it exactly to my liking. The spice level that I asked for was delivered and the food was absolutely delicious. Probably the best take out Chinese food that I have ever had. The woman who took my order was also an absolute sweetheart. She was patient and very kind. Delivery took about 45 minutes. The best Chinese food takeout place around the area bar none. The food is always nice and fresh and the meat that they use do not taste past their due date unlike some other Chinese restaurants. Foods I've had were never oily. The amount of food is a lot and perfectly proportioned between the meat and veggies. Their cheese wonton (crab rangoon) is great! The lady who works there is very kind. She noticed that I had my baby with me and she accommodated me so I didn't have to leave my son on the table (which is not even 3 feet away fr the counter) alone. Honestly I gave this place a shot because the other place that's close to my apt has gone down dramatically in service and food quality. This place is fairly close to my apt too so i figured why not, especially since most of the reviews were pretty positive! I'm so glad i did! The food was DELICIOUS and the service was fast and accurate (unlike my previous choice). They're a LITTLE bit pricier than the previous place, but the food is so much better and you actually get more. The portions are very generous and the quality of the food is good. White chicken breast you can identify inside a "chicken fried rice". We haven't been coming here long and I only tried a few of the dishes so far but each time it was good. The kitchen is huge, they have at least 6 or 7 people cooking there all the time, so the wait is very reasonable. The dining area and bathroom are very sad and need to be updated, so you might not want to eat in, but that does not reflect on the food in any way. The woman taking our order was very nice and I saw her be very friendly with other patrons that she knew by name. If you live in the area, you should give this restaurant a try. read more

Simple strip mall take out and few tables and chairs for eat in. Have been a customer for over 25 years, perhaps eaten there hundreds of times and food is fresh, prepared in sight of customers kitchen is in clear view. Very clean, reasonably priced and larger portions and free tea. I go there as often as possible and recommend this establishment to friends and visitors. The best Chinese takeout in central Jersey, my family and I have been coming here since I was a kid and its still just as good as ever. This place is situated in the back behind Red Lobster on Route 1 and TGI Fridays. This is my place to go for good inexpensive Chinese food. The place looks like your typical take out with some small tables inside for diners. If you love boneless spare ribs like I do, then you will LOVE these! I find them to be less greasy and more flavorful than other take out places. The portions are generous and the prices are on point with what you get. The dumplings both fried and steam are also very good. I never been disappointed with anything I had here. THis place has been around for years and I hope it continues to be around for many more! I've been a patron of China Cafe for years - surprised that I haven't yelp'ed it yet so I am here to right that wrong. I grew up on NYC Chinatown restaurants so I have a very specific taste that I look to be met. For a take out restaurant, China Cafe is the best I have experienced not only in my area but for most of NJ. I even had them cater my daughter's sweet 16 birthday party - the only complaint was that they way over estimated the amount of food but that was partly our mistake as we learned teenagers are not big eaters at parties. The counter staff is super pleasant and all speak English very well. Their hot and sour soup is what I measure other restaurants against and so far very few come close to theirs. I have to admit, we've had a few disappointing meals there but they are few and far between. We normally take out as the dining area is small but when it's just me and misses and it's not too busy, we'll eat in. Our other favorite spot is Noodle Gourmet near the Rutgers New Brunswick campus - I think they a broader yet different menu. But for Chinese takeout, in our book, there's none better than China Cafe. read more
