This review is about China Buffet in the shopping mall with the huge Kroger on N Decatur Rd. I THOUGHT I had found another good place to eat. Even tho' the cashier was never hospitable, much less friendly, I let that pass until this morning, Saturday, 28 December 2019. As I was paying my check, I thanked the cashier for her service. I have not been to many Chinese buffets. We came here because my cousin told me it was cheap & filling. She was right. I believe we came here around on a Monday at 1pm. The service was good, nothing special, but nothing bad to report. The food is our typical Chinese buffet food. I thought it was good for the price of $7 (lunch "special"). I have no complaints. They pod was good enough for me to be satisfied. I really like the sugar sprinkles doughnuts, so yummy. If I am ever in ATL and I'm short on cash, but need a decent feel or two ;), I wouldn't mind coming back here. read more

Awful service provided and very discriminatory considering my sister is slightly tall argued that she was an adult although my sister is 10 years of age as of this past September. Asked that we drive home and provide a birth certificate to prove her age!! Refused us service to enter because we did not agree to pay for adult price for a child who met age requirements for the establishment. Chinese buffets: my favorite guilty pleasure! This is the best one so far. Everyone knows your get better food in a sit down restaurant, usually. The food is actually on par with any regular Chinese joint, and better than many of the no-name fried stuff and sweet sauce places. Definitely not as good as a Pyng-Ho or Golden Buddha on Clermont. Stopped in for lunch and ordered some chicken Lo mein. They got some Lo mein from their Buffett and some sesame chicken that was already cook, mixed it together and put it in a container. I mentioned to them the chicken they put in the lo mein isn't correct. They argued and say it's always the chicken they use for their Lo mein and wouldn't give me the correct unbreaded chicken that it come with. I went for dinner with a friend. This was my first time. The food was very lackluster and my friend was disappointed. It seems as if the food was sitting there for a little bit. We to this spot today and this is a great lunch or dinner restaurant. The staff are very fast to seat you and get your drink. The food is ok. You can get full so don't eat too much. They have ice cream in a cooler that most people don't know is there. I enjoy stopping here for lunch from time to time. The price for lunch plus a tip is about $10. Enjoy!! read more

I had a friend visiting me from out of town. He is the one that came across this restaurant on his phone. Its a small buffet but the food selection is great and taste soooo good. It wasn't busy but the only setback, it took forever for the waitress to refill our drinks. I will definitely be back because its hard to find a Chinese buffet in Georgia that taste good and I won't end up sick afterwards. I was into this place and someone's breaking the tips off green beans right there in the restaurant. The was so inappropriate among other things. It's not a dirty place but not the cleanest either. I ordered shrimp fried rice and kung pap shrimp. The shrimp in the fried rice looked raw so I ate the rice around it. Tasted bland. The sauce was okay. I also ordered egg drop soup and that was pretty good hence the 2 stars. Otherwise, I would have given them 1 star. What a waste of my $18! read more

The servers who work very hard are never available for drink refills. today, on my way out, the cashier (I believe one of the owners..an older lady) kept pointing at me , laughing and speaking in Chinese. Clean, spacious, well lit, lots of variety, and good value for the money. I particularly liked the garlic pepper shrimp and the vegetables are fresh and not over cooked. Since its a buffet there is not much to say about the service, except they were responsive when we asked for something. I have been here twice. I was disappointed the first time. My son and I enjoy chinese food so we googled for one and ended up at this one again. I guess its just the way it is here in this region. No really good chinese restaurants that have shrimp on the lunch time . not used to that. In Florida they have really have great Chinese restaurants. Have not found that yet here. read more

China Buffet looked like a set from an '80s Hong Kong action movie. Pink and orange neon buzzed in a band around the walls, while the entree pictures were of the faded, green and greyish variety commonly found in aging airport terminals. They've had these entrees that long? The 2 buffets had many of the requisite dishes - Sweet and Sour chicken, Lo Mein, Sesame chicken, fried rice, etc. There were also a number of shrimp items, along with ice cream (4 flavors!) and salad/fruit. The members of my group sampled an item titled "Sugar Doughnut", which did not taste of sugar or doughnut. Food wasn't bad, about the same quality as delivery Chinese food, but with an unlimited supply and free drink refills. Buffet alone was about $8.00 while drinks were $1.50. Service was excellent, with prompt refills and frequent used plate removal. The experience is pretty much what you'd expect from a neon-filled restaurant named "China Buffet" in a Kroger shopping center. read more

As far as the buffet goes, I would give them 1 star. None of the food tasted fresh and everything just tasted gross. Even the Wanton soup wasn't good and it's kinda hard to get something so simple wrong. BUT, I did try their take-out a few times and actually liked it. The food is very good, a good value for your money and fresh. The soup in question was probably the egg drop and looks like well... egg drop! It is delish. Apparently this person is not a fan of Chinese food anyway. We see familiar faces every time we go and that speaks to the loyalty of their customers. You can always go somewhere else and they probably wouldn't care if you do. They don't advertise falsely (like being a sushi bar) or any of that and the ugly comments seem to be misdirected. First impression was clean dining area and small but adequate buffet line. Probably one of the best wonton soup broths I have had in the Atlanta area but the noodles were mushy--indicative of sitting there for a while. On this Friday evening around 7 PM, café was 3⁄4 full and well staffed with busy friendly faces. Food was tended to regularly and everything "appeared" fresh. However, I did have some cold pot stickers. Cold as in from the frig or sitting in a backroom on a late winter evening. Health codes dictate that ALL food items have hot and cold temperature ranges to prevent danger zones where bacteria can develop. This "hot" food item was not in compliance. I noticed many others in question as well. Overall the food was less than mediocre as some reviews say it is of that mid grade. I am not so generous. Cost for two adult buffets with two hot teas in one pot was around $22 without tip. At about mid way through the meal knew I probably would not return. A coupe of hours later I knew for sure of that fact as I was so thirsty from the MSG that I felt like a desert waiting for an epic rainstorm. read more

I live near here and go often, mostly because there is not other Chinese buffet near me. But the wait staff is slow and unresponsive, regardless of whether they have 70 customers or 2. I'm from New York and have eaten Chinese Food all my life & all over the US. Having a son at Georgia Tech - (15 minutes away) brings me here every time we visit. I've eaten at other Buffet Restaurants in the Atlanta Area & for Good Basic Chinese Food - This place is a winner. They have a decent size selection for the size of the restaurant. The food dishes are usually FULL & decently fresh. They do not have the crazy choices of add-on AMERICAN-ized food that so many buffets have added... (no pizza, roast beef or chicken scampi!) They have good Chinese food at a great price. They could MODERNIZE the place a bit... Booths are worn and "tired"... The restaurant is relatively clean and the HELP are generally courteous. They are located in a big Kroger Parking lot - so parking and safety is not an issue. The customers are from all mixed backgrounds.... everyone comes here to ENJOY. I know I'll be back! read more
