Another visit on a Sunday at 11:30 am. Got busier as the day went on, but not so busy you can't get to the bars. Staff keep everything fresh & clean, remove dirty plates as you finish & check the buffet frequently. You have go during the rush time during lunch and dinner because the food is hot and fresh and there is a quick turnover for all of it. If you go during when business is slow, the food is going to sit. I recently went to another Asian buffet in Tucker and there was no comparison! China Buffet seasons their food well and they don't skimp on ingredients. Although they only have four small buffet bars, the food is way better than a lot of larger places that have more options. There is not an extensive selection on the buffet but the food is okay. The servers do collect plates and refill drinks in a decent manner. Also, if you're in doubt if a fresh rotation of food is coming out, you can also ask the staff and they will inform the cooks. The price point for the buffet is not that bad. There isn't a big difference as far as what is on the menu for lunch and what is on the menu for dinner (I believe catfish and crawfish is the only new additions) with that being said, if you are able to, dine for lunch. Better bang for your buck. But the crawfish are delish if you want to pay the extra $3-$4 and dine during dinner hours. read more

The price is reasonable, for the variety of items in the buffet. Their Hot and sour food is like a warm hug in a cup. They have ample of indoor seating both booths and tables. They offer reusable tableware and forks or chopsticks. They also offer to go or dine in. It is a well lit and casual restaurant. when I was a kid my grandfather would drag the Chan Clan (my aunts, uncles, cousins) to various Chinese buffets and then because of our sheer number we could quickly sample all the foods and then mercilessly critique all of them. we would all be judged on how much we "got our money's worth" which meant number of empty crustacean or bivalve shells. how does this story relate? well Grandpa would love China Buffet and that's impressive. there would be plenty of shrimp shells (3 kinds) and mussels in actual black bean sauce for the discards. the aunties would approve of the crispness of the veggies and freshness of the meats. the uncles would be thrilled at the array of desserts and appetizers. little kid me and my cousins would be stoked about the help-yourself ice cream treats freezer. and Grandpa? he'd be nodding happily, saying "yes good food nice service, very worthwhile" while secretly stuffing his blazer pockets with the sesame taro cakes. tl;dr: this place is straight legit. my Chinese mom takes her newly-immigrated Chinese friends here and they love it. top value. super fresh everything. service is outstanding. easy free parking. only caveat: it's an AYCE buffet so if you do takeout don't complain about portion size/freshness; they're doing the best they can with that takeout box but that's not what they're cooking for! leave your house and come get it fresh if you can! read more

My take-out order on 6/17/23 was mostly good. The crab rangoon and the pork fried rice were both very good. The sweet and sour chicken was a big portion and fine; unfortunately, there were only a few slices of peppers and onions. We tried the boneless honey ribs for the first time, and it was a big disappointment. It was so tough and chewy that we only ate two "strips." The order was ready exactly when they promised, so that was nice. We will return, but we will stick to the dishes that we know are good. read more

Ok, I gave a 4-star review six months ago after just a couple of visits. I have been back a number of times now and need to update my initial take: To me, China Buffet is two different restaurants - one at lunch and another at dinner. The difference is in the selections offered. Both lunch and dinner feature the same soups and appetizers, and both feature green beans as a standalone veggie and broccoli in some stir-fry or other. The hot and sour soup is very good. The potstickers are good if they're freshly placed on the steam table; otherwise they can be dry and charred on the bottom. The veggies are very good. PLEASE NOTE that dinner is $4 more than lunch. Lunch - 5 stars!!! Awesome American Chinese food. Some of my favorite selections include: Tofu with veggies, delicious!! Mongolian pork - AWESOME Peanut chicken - AWESOME Hunan chicken - super!!! Every time I have been for lunch the food has been hot and fresh. Dinner - 2 1/2 stars I suppose the big deal about dinner, and what makes it cost an extra 4$, is that it features seafood. But hey, it's just very ordinary, average seafood, and just about EVERYTHING on the dinner menu is batter-fried. You know - the usual crunchy fried uninteresting stuff. Fried shrimp, fried fish, several different kinds of fried chicken chunks in some sauce or not, etc. It's not bad but just not very good. They do have some black bean mussels that are pretty darn good but I can't make a meal off two plates full of mussels. I tried some teriyaki chicken - not fried but tough, dry, basically inedible, I mean BAD. There is NOTHING except maybe the mussels that I feel ok about recommending. Again, most of it is ok, just really really unexciting. And you are paying $4 more than you would pay for the really good lunch. I suppose it's a matter of taste; if you LOVE fried food - the sweet/sour chicken, the General Tso (I can't spell that) chicken, the whatever-fried chicken and lots of fried seafood, then you'll probably like the dinner at China Buffet. I can't often get to CB at lunchtime; I wish I could. And I probably won't go again for dinner because a few times is enough, way enough. Go for lunch if you can!!! read more

We entered on a weekend around 2:30 PM and we were shocked to see the restaurant about 2/3 full. We considered this a good sign and we were right. I think this buffet is the best one we've been to in Atlanta. All of the items tasted very fresh and the service was good. It wasn't the biggest selection but in comparison to a large buffet where about 1/3 of the items are good literally about 95% were good. The items actually had flavor. Our faves were the vegetarian dish with bok choy and the salt and pepper shrimp.- - the lo mein was good too. Anyway, I would recommend this place definitely. China Buffet - or as my friends and I call it "The College Student Savior". This place has been here for years and for good reason at that. It's a $6.90 lunch buffet and like $9ish for dinner. How that alone didn't get you to stop reading and already in there I don't know... This isn't Vegas. Nor is it a $30 buffet. So it's not fancy. But what it is is mostly clean, the food is fresh and changed out the moment it looks bad. The service is active - you won't be long without a drink or anything else you need. This is actually my third visit to this buffet, primarily because my grandparents like going. They don't have a lot of selection on the buffet but it is a nice selection including sushi. They also have ice cream cups and I think popsicles that are included in your buffet price. And the ladies who work the restaurant move pretty quickly in clearing your used dishes from the tables. they walk around continually and clean them pretty quickly. Been going here since 05, especially in my college days. Food is consistently good. Not a large buffet but what they have are good food choices. I especially like the garlic buttery fried shrimp! Looking at some of the other reviews...I dont think you can come a place like this expecting 5 star food and service. With $6.90 lunch buffet, options and qualities are not too bad. Favorites include their soups, egg foo young, pot stickers, crab rangoons, and lo mein noodles. It's pretty similar for dinner. Service is better than most Chinese buffets. I would not come back on a weekday at 12pm due to the crowds. Since I was by myself, I ended up at a shared table sitting pretty close to other customers. Lunch hour is just too chaotic, but I'll be back another time! read more

I have no idea if they tried to rip me off other times, but clearly we're charging me more and, after I confronted the cashier, told me it was because I purchased dumplings.
