The food itself is OK! But the place is dirty and the plates at the bar still had old food still on it.

I've ate at Chinese buffets this is one of the best in the country. Also helpful wait staff.

We weren't expecting 5 star dining, but definitely think there could be room for improvement. The wait service did an amazing job keeping our flat Pepsi's refilled and removing used plates but the host was less than great, literally threw our silverware on the table and walked off. The food was just OK for the price and location. The food bar could have been cleaned more often as well as the serving utensils which looked to have not been cleaned or switched all day. The walls had dried food stuck to them and the table was short arms length wiped leaving a ring of crumbs at the back of the table. Will definitely choose differently on our next trip to Asheboro. read more

Not only is the worst Chinese food I have ever had.....dry, and strangely tasting. Things tasted like seafood that wasn't seafood. Price outrageous, had to leave and go to taco bell and eat after spending 33 bucks there. Not only that, the guy at the desk was so distracted I think he knew by the look on my face not to ask me how everything was and the "server treated us like we were invisible" and seemed surprised she didn't get a tip. I have never in my sixtyone years on this planet ever ask a waitress......Are you mad at us? We will never go back and I sure wish I could figure out how to get my money back. We stumbled on this place while looking for a local hamburger restaurant that had either closed up or moved. The interior is rather small, but clean and bright. The buffet is made up of 3 regular sized steam tables, 40 or so items, including pepperoni pizza. There were the usual dishes available, some of which were pretty darn good. The Chicken Wings were excellent, very flavorful, nicely cooked. The Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, & Pepper Steak were all very good. There was a Hot Pepper Chicken dish that was excellent, not exactly Black Pepper Chicken, but very nice, with a good build up of heat. They also offered a very nice pork dish, loaded with tender, flavorful pork, and a shrimp dish with large, fresh tasting shrimp. The only down side was the egg roll, which was soft and soggy with little flavor, the texture a bit creepy. The service was decent, though they talked very loudly to each other from across the restaurant - rather annoying. I would definitely stop in again if in the area - maybe they'll put me in a quiet, safe zone! read more

Passing through town and the clerk at my hotel recommended this place. So, we gave it a try. I'm not a fan, however, I've eaten in buffets that were much worse. Best I can say is that it's about average and nothing to write home about. read more

Really good buffet in Asheboro. It's cheaper to eat a sit down meal here, than it is a McDonald's drive through trip. The food was good, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a Chinese buffet in North Carolina. They had a delicious selection, food was constantly being refreshed when brought out, the ice cream was a great touch too! We will be back! read more

All I can say is this place is nasty. The seats are sticky, the floors are sticky, and the food quality has gone sharply downward since this place opened a number of years ago. The atmosphere inside is old, it's worn out, and uncomfortable feeling. Myself or my family no longer goes to this place. read more

Nope nope nope would Not go back!! I know Restaurant have bad days but wow I haven't seen a good day yet I went 2 times just give it another shot and I have friends that went there!! Got sick each time!! Plates and silverware Not very clean!! They was egg shells in there orange chicken one time, noodle overly soggy and then on another a lot hard pieces same with the rice!!!! OK, buffets can be a mixed bag, everyone knows that. Every once in a while, though, you come across something so horrifying that it just can't be ignored. So this happened to our family tonight: We walked into No. 1 China Buffet at around 7pm. The servers outnumbered the customers, but it was fairly late on a Thursday night. Right away we noticed that the food had been sitting there for quite a while. As we ate, everyone acknowledged that it wasn't the best food we'd had - the chicken was chewy, soup and sauces all had a heavy film on them, and things were just not that great in general. Oh well, that's the chance you take at a buffet. Toward the end of the meal, I've got three stuffed mushrooms on my plate. I love those little things, sauteed in butter and typically pretty tasty. I eat one. Then I pick up the next one, and as I lift it from the plate something falls off. That something was a well-sauteed fly. I'll wait while you gag. Thing is, there were NO flies in the dining area at all, and seriously this guy was SAUTEED. I'm trying VERY hard not to think about what the kitchen must be like. A serious battle ensued to keep what I'd eaten in my stomach and not all over the table and floor. We brought the matter to the attention of our waitress who in turn told the manager. The manager apologized, rang us up, and gave us a $5 gift card. Yes, we paid for the meal (I blame shock at the horrifying even that had just occurred). Even worse? The tray was still on the buffet as our family left. Obviously, we're never going back. Ever. Not even if the zombie apocalypse happens tomorrow and No. 1 China Buffet is the only source of food in the entire continent of North America. read more

We stopped in for lunch. Big selection. Lots of shrimp dishes. Food is good but would be better if hot. Sushi available but I didn't like the flies hanging around... I did like a spinach and cheese dish they had. Plus the ice cream and bananas were great and the cookies were very fresh. You can tell I'm a dessert and veggie kind of person. My husband did enjoy the sesame chicken brought out hot from the kitchen. Priced reasonably. Senior discount which was appreciated. Staff very friendly and accommodating. read more

Update: Since the review the very nice manager has replaced my food. I wish I had dealt with him from the beginning rather than the lady. I will still be wary about paying by card but will return as I love the food. I went in for lunch as I normally do. My boss and I typically get buffet today. This particular day they had an issue with the credit card machine. The machine charged me for my food but the clerk working told me it would drop off. I only had enough in my card for it to be ran once. Since I didn't have enough for it to be ran again they kept my food. It has now been 3 weeks and I do not have a dime of my money back. Every time I call they tell me to wait a few days. This past Monday when I called they told me to wait until the owner returns on July 31. $8 may not seem like a lot but to me it is! read more

Have always had good experiences here. A decent sized buffet, including a sushi bar which is basic but good, especially considering sushi at a buffet in this area is very atypical. Food is never piping hot and the staff aren't overly friendly (nor rude), but it keeps you coming back! read more

Gross, just not good at all. I didn't like the amount of gnats and flies and the fact they would scrape food out and into new containers. I have no idea how long that food had sat there. Just didn't like it. read more
