I'm giving them one star because the guys did good work when they showed up. However, they billed me for 45 minutes, not 25 minutes. I was there, and let them in to do the work. Then they left and padded the hours. I sat there the whole time while they worked. I checked my watch when I let them in, and then when I let them out. I called to complain about the bill and the gal said she'd "ask the guys about it." Well of course it's my word against theirs, and she told me she's "stuck between a rock and a hard place and doesn't know what to do." Gee....hmmmm....ever heard of the expression the customer is always right? Guess not. Fortunately for me there are many other options here for wood stove maintenance, so I don't plan to ever call them again. If you don't have a choice, I suggest you tell them you are monitoring the time. Good luck! read more

Curt came out to look at our faulty stove, primarily to sell us another since ours is over 25 years old and was not running. Instead of pushing a new unit on us, he sold me a part and helped me install it myself. He could not have been nicer or more patient with my questions and ineptitude. I recently wrote a review and now am following up with a rating that the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is giving Chimney Specialist. They are giving them a "F" rating because they failed to respond to a letter they sent them in regards to my complaint. I recently had a bad experience with their customer service. I would not recommend them to anyone. they don't stand behind their product. Ok why would you not respond to a complaint if you didn't have anything to hide... think about it before you make the same mistake i did by hiring them to do a professional job. i have to rate them with 1 star because the program is set up that way but i don't even give them that. read more

Chimney Specialists, Inc. came though for us when we needed it. After we had a small hostile fire in our chimney, we had to get multiple quotes for our insurance. One company's quote was extremely high and the scope of work they said they needed to do was shocking. Then another company was way too low, and the guy said we didn't even need it repaired (it absolutely did need repair, and was a fire hazard as is). But thankfully Chimney Specialists, Inc. came in with the most reasonable quote and scope of work, and assured us that the repairs could be done without dismantling the entire chimney. And sure enough, they were correct. What we assumed would be an all-day project ended up only taking an hour or so. We were shocked when they came in the house and said they were all done. We figured they were just getting started. It looks good to us, and we can't wait to use it this fall and winter. And the guys were friendly, polite, and had senses of humor...sadly a rarity with many contractors. read more

expensive but available. roof shingles tore off to decking, decking repaired and 1 layer of shingle put on 1 year ago. got grief from team- had square of shingles extra laying flat in garage in original wrapper. asked them to use those to patch up roof after chimney removed (chimney to far gone to be repaired). oh no can't use them too old....get a fresh square..need more.. dude- who knows just how long those shingles have been out in the warehouse...is another square going to be any "fresher"? read more
