Company never showed up. Cancelled first appointment because of a supposed equipment malfunction, asked if could come the following Tuesday and it would be half off. I said yes. Get a call two days later saying they couldn't come that day because crews weren't in the area, and asked about Friday the 27th at 9am. No one showed up today, called company, got voicemail, no one has returned my call, sent e-mail and no one has replied. Now I am weeks behind on getting my Chimney inspected and cleaned. read more

This company came to my parents' today to clean and inspect the chimney. They charged $169, and it doesn't appear as if the guy did very much. You'd think for this kind of money they would actually explain what they did. The guy was done within a couple minutes and wasn't even going to tell us how it looked. My dad had to draw it out of him and all he said was "lots of spider webs". He ran his vacuum for maybe a couple minutes, and while it was still running, the guy was already loading his ladder onto the truck. I honestly don't think the guy really did anything. He asked to wash his hands and he was just going to leave without saying anything. What a ripoff! Avoid this place, it's a scam. When you call the number, you get the voicemail for some woman named Toni. How unprofessional. They can't even be bothered to have a separate cell phone for their business. F them. I wish more people in michigan used yelp, chimney cricket would surely be out of business by now. A quick google search shows that Chris cerrito is flakey and a fraud. He does not show up when he says and he takes your money and runs. We are suing him because we are left with no choice. If you need an address to send a process server, use 3865 oak knoll rd in Waterford. If he moves again you can just send the postmaster a request under the freedom of information act to get the new address. He will have to pay your fee to serve him and filling fee as well as whatever you had to pay to repair the minimal/ surface repair job he did and he will have to pay back whatever he took from you. I wish I had looked at reviews. I scheduled with Tozier but didn't want to wait 4 weeks plus after getting quotes of $179 from other places to simply clean (no replacement parts or other services) I unfortunately thought his price would be same or similar to. After spending 20 minutes he asked for $279. He said he has competitive prices with Alpha omega. (They are 179). I had no choice but to pay but I want to make sure all is warned he is a rip off and various other companies will do the same and better for much less. Will get Better customer service as well! We had an appointment scheduled and the people called and said they were on their way but never showed up. My husband called them to see what was going on and he got no answer. We will be going somewhere else, I don't even want to waste my money on someone that cannot keep their appointments and at least have the common courtesy to call and let us know they won't be there after they call and said they were on their way. read more

The only reason this guy does not get zero stars is because I cannot give them zero. This operation is run by a scumbag. Requested an inspection the rental, and told them to provide an inspection report and drop it off at my office and my secretary would provide him with a check. 1) The guy did not go into the property due to a dog. Therefore would not be able to perform the inspection. Of course the person did not tell me this prior to cashing the check. 2) The person quoted $800 to "remove vines" on the chimney and was not able to inspect. So I am out $150 dollars for a job they did not do/could not do. Could have just told me they would not do the job prior cashing the check and then they would not have a bad review. After it took two months for them to do the work that we paid a 50% downpayment for, the new damper which they installed did not work properly after the second fire in the fireplace. I have waited ten months for the warranty work to be done. They set two appointmenst up and never showed to do the work. They are probably overpriced, and don't seem to care about the customer after they have their money. Don't use this company if you want anything done. It will save you frustration. read more

He said he would be back on Saturday to do the work and never showed so when I called him he said he would be there the following Saturday and of course no showed again and won't return my calls either. Chris said he would come by and do the work a few times before he actually made it. We wanted to pay with a credit card but he said he only takes checks. We left the check for him since we were both at work. When we came home the check was gone but the work wasn't done! We had to call Chris and the bank to cancel the check. We got Chris on the phone. He apologized and returned to do the work we paid him for. Instead of grinding out the old cracked mortar and putting in new mortar, he just covered the old mortar with a thin layer of new mortar. We know this because the "work" he did only a few months ago is already cracking. No wonder he wanted a check! If we had paid with a credit card we could, even today, dispute the charges. Chris Cerrito is a bad egg for sure. He used my credit card to pay on his yacht. He was supposed to use it for my final payment and he used it to pay on his yacht in Florida. He did not have my permission to do this. He also did not do all the work he was supposed to and finally gave me a little bit of money back for not doing all he charged me for. I had just moved into the neighborhood, and needed my chimney cleaned out, and a new cap installed. After some research I went with Chimney Cricket because they were $10 cheaper than another chimney service I had called, and had better reviews online. However after what happened with me, I wish I had paid the $10 extra dollars and gone with another company. The beginning of my service began smoothly, with the owner saying that they could come out the next day at 9am "bright and early". So, the next day came, and I got up early so that I could be up and ready for when they showed up. 9am came, and went. 10am came, and went. At 11am I started to wonder if they even going to come that day, so I called the owner. His only explanation was "We had 2 other customers before you, and both of them had neighbors that wanted chimney services done as well. We will be there as soon as we can....We appreciate your business". I said "All right, see you soon", wondering in the back of my mind why they couldn't have at least called and said they would be late. 11am came, and went. 12pm came, and went. At around 1pm an unmarked truck showed up, and sure enough it was Chimney Cricket. The actual chimney cleaning went smoothly, and they did a good job (not even getting any soot on the carpet). When they were done with the cleaning part, they said they needed to go get the chimney cap. At the time I had to go out and run to the hardware store, however one of the workers told my wife that the total would be $350 for the cleaning & chimney cap. While I was out at the hardware store the owner called me and said that the cap was more expensive than they thought, but that the cleaning was $150, and the cap was $300, but they would take $50 so the total will be $400. I was a little annoyed that they can't get their prices straight, but told them that I understand, and $400 was all right. When I got back to the house, I found out that the workers had already came and gone. My wife had already wrote them a check, and everything. I asked her "So, it was $400 right?". She said "He was going to cut me a deal, and charge me only $425, so I wrote the check for that". Confused and frustrated I called the owner back, and asked him why we agreed on the $400, and suddenly it changed it $425. After some discussion he finally agreed and said that he would mail me a check for the $25. I did not hear anything for 2 weeks, so I called the owner who did not answer the phone. I left a message asking where my check was, but to this day, over a month later i have not received a call back nor a check for the $25. So, to sum this experience up, I would NOT recommend Chimney Cricket. Reasons being that they will not show up on time, nor even call you that they are going to be late. In addition, the price that they quote you may not be the final price you pay. read more
