Even before COVID the chances of getting someone to answer the phone there is relatively the same odds as winning the lottery.

This place is filled from floor to ceiling, no embellishment, with doors, windows, mantels, hardware, door knobs, lights, handles, cabinets and other items. While majority of the items were aged quite a bit, it did appear that they had some new build doors and such if that is what you are after. Honestly, I think 50% of the inventory is doors of some variety, and I wasn't mad it! It is such a cool space to wander around for a bit. We stopped by looking for antique furniture and while they have a few pieces, that is not what this place is about. Even though we didn't find what we were after, it was cool to wander up and down the hallways and through the maze of rooms scoping out the goods...we really loved some of the windows and lights they have hanging around. Some absolutely beautiful, and pricey, finds that I could see absolutely making a space! The staff was pleasant and friendly, she greeted us when we were walking around and again as we were leaving. Overall, I could see the need and popularity of a place like this, especially when it comes to remodeling, replacing or upgrading a space.

After perusing many options, I decided on A Village of Flowers. Their arrangements were beautiful, organic and felt much more curated then many of the other local options, in addition, though the arrangements aren't inexpensive, I found we got a lot more for our money than other shops. I tried ordering from their website, which is great and user friendly, but due to the location, was unable to. I found their FAQ said they often extend their delivery radius for extra cost and based on availability, that being said I gave them a ring to see if it was possible. I can't remember who I spoke to, I believe it was Melissa, but she was wonderful! Checked the schedule said they had availability to make the delivery and that if I decided to go that route, just to give her a call. After a bit more research, I decided on their Appreciation arrangement, and asked for as much yellow as possible, as it's my stepmothers favorite color. They definitely delivered! The arrangement was absolutely beautiful, delivered promptly and in a vase. Our note was included and I would definitely consider ordering from them again if the time arises. My stepmother lit up when she saw them and said it's one of the most beautiful bouquets she's every received.

He had been installing for her for many years and did flawless work. I did not get that installer apparently because he destroyed my sheet rock and did not install the closets as was laid out by the rep. I sent a bunch of photos to the office and they sent out the installers boss. The finish on a lot of closet pieces were missing the factory paint. Appears like I got second hand materials or things not used on prior installations. Looks like it was in the installers truck for a while. Installers boss came out on 6/21 and confirmed that the closets were not installed correctly. He seemed shocked. He said replacement parts would be in 2-3 weeks and they would come out (he and installer) and make it right. I have left many messages with no action. The guy at the office told me that it takes 4-6 weeks to get materials in and that the installers boss didn't know what he was talking about. It seems like everyone is pointing fingers at someone else. I just want my closets fixed so I can use them. I do not recommend using Home Depot and their installers in Tennessee. Do your homework. I wish I would have. Now I'm stuck with this and no one from Home Depot is assisting me. I am attaching a few photos of the problems.

Both honestly were a bit of a let down. While I get the seasonal décor being limited because it's not there to stay, the limited options for exterior patio and yard lighting was a bummer. It was essentially an endcap. The store was clean, organized and in good shape. Service was non-existent, but we did not seek anyone out either. From entry to exit, we were not engaged at all. Passed several Associates on the floor and while we did self-checkout, the Associate running this area was on their phone during our checkout. Not a big issue, just surprising. Overall, this location is your standard Home Depot location and when in the area, if the need arises, I would have no issue swinging back through.

As someone who has been in the throws of doing a home decor and remodeling project for the last…read moreyear, I absolutely can't fathom how Classic Modern was nowhere near my radar? After having lunch with a friend down the street, she suggested that we hit up Pre To Post Modern for a quick vintage fix and I of course, was down. As I was parking in the lot next to their building, I noticed the nondescript building the right of the lot... hmm, what is that? I asked my friend when I walked in to Pre To Post and she said that they have great stuff but could be "hit or miss" at times. Hmmm.. my curiosity was peaked! I was impressed when I walked in and saw a vast range of home furnishings and furniture that included retro 50's and unique modern in the same room as art deco and antique pieces that dated back to the mid 1800's. I happen to have a diverse palette with my taste in home decor so I was instantly smitten with the selection! And, just when thought that there was only one room stocked with wonderful wares, I turned the corner and another large room came into view. Prices ran the gamut but everything appeared to be retailing at a fair market value from my experience. The owner James Kopcsak was working the sales floor and super friendly. I will definitely add Classic Modern to my list of standbys as I cross the finish-line in completing my loft and suggest that you pop in too! TIP: Free consultation services are available.

While Classic…read moreModern's prices still certainly aren't cheap, they're a bit closer to what I might call reasonable for sofas, chairs and other home decor items. I was especially impressed by the really cool chandeliers and light fixtures displayed throughout the store. When I stopped in, the gentleman running the place was polite, and the atmosphere in the place is pretty laid back. While a lot of Classic Modern's furniture items area a bit swanky, they also carry pretty inexpensive hydraulic barstools, room dividers and mirrors. They also had a large glass and steel two-part bar that would be perfect for starting your own basement or poolside tavern, and it only cost about $700 (pretty reasonable considering). Classic Modern also carries some bracelets, pendants, earrings and other jewelry items at the front of the store. They look like they were probably made by someone who runs their own little line, and they were all cheap and pretty neat. Stuff that might make a good present (and nothing over about $30). Classic Modern's website shows a lot of their in-store items, so you can get an idea of their inventory before going in to check it out. If I had just a bit more money, I probably would have purchased one of their fancy psychiatrist-style leather chaise lounges.

They import most of the items from Mexico, which is one reason for the only three stars--there is probably a pretty big mark-up, because it's not the cheapest place! Not the most expensive I've seen around here either though, so I guess you have to pick your battles. There are roughly 10 different iron finishes you can choose from, and they can special order items as well. It's not only furniture though--baker's racks, candlesticks, wine racks, serving carts, basically anything you can imagine that could be out of iron--it's here! I have bought a few small gift items in the past, and have been pleased with service as well as quality of the product. Be prepared to be outside if you are looking for larger items, and inside is a little cramped but they make good use of the space.

I noticed a number of cross sculptures, which made sense after reading the store's brochure: "Courtyard Gate is operated in a manner consistent with Biblical principals and always working to honor our Lord." I'm not sure what selling expensive ironwork has to do with religion, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Some of the iron furniture was nice, with simple curlicues and pretty geometric patterns. But the picture frames, lamps, and other indoor decor was too ornate and traditional-looking for my taste. However, the saleswoman was genuinely friendly, and they had a few items on sale for much less than the original cost.

The Store That Sells Everything You Didn't Know You Wanted…read more I was wandering down what I think is called 12th Street in Nashville -- that trendy stretch where even the sidewalks feel cooler than me -- and I stumbled into White's Mercantile. This place is like if a country singer, an interior designer, and an old general store all decided to start a lifestyle brand together. It's packed with everything from candles that smell like wealth and nostalgia, to mugs that make you question your current kitchen aesthetic. There's leather, linen, and probably something made from reclaimed barn wood -- all tastefully arranged to make you wish your house looked like this. After exploring all the treasures and fighting the urge to buy things I couldn't pronounce, I did what any sensible shopper would do: I bought a book. Because clearly, I'm a minimalist at heart... just one browsing session away from becoming a home décor influencer. Final Verdict: White's Mercantile is dangerously charming -- the kind of store that makes you believe you need artisanal coasters and $40 soap.
