My Jeep has been pulling HARD to the right and burned off the outer edge of the passenger side front tire in 5K miles (last rotation). Because I purchased the MOPAR Max Care warranty, I brought it to Chilson Wilcox for service, assuming that being a "certified" Jeep repair shop actually meant something. They told me my tires were at 33 PSI, and not the recommended 37, but that everything else was fine. Their only recommendation was to just keep rotating my tires and burning them up. I got back into my Jeep after the appointment, and they had overfilled my tires to 41 PSI and it still pulls hard to the right (no surprise). When I called back to see what they recommend, they said that I could drop it off and they could *try* and figure it out, but that their labor charge was $160+ per hour. I should have known better than to take my Jeep to Chilson Wilcox after I looked at a Gladiator there a couple years ago and asked if the LED package could be added to any trim. The salesman said that he thought it was only available at the "Sahara" trim and above... I bit my tongue and didn't say anything, but anyone who knows anything about Gladiators, ESPECIALLY A SALESMAN, should know that there is *NO* "Sahara" trim for Gladiators. Wow I was scared after all the bad reviews but my experience was fine. I took my car in for an inspection and they were courteous and nice. They took longer than what I expected with an appointment. They said one of my lightbulbs was out for the license plate & made me pay for a new one before passing it which is whatever. Chilson wilcox service is a big joke. bought my truck from them. They had my truck for two months they clamed it was fixed. I drove it to airport to return rental. Truck broke down again. yes another tow bill back to chilson. another two weeks pickup was done again picked it up drove to home. Yes it died again another tow bill back to dealer. $ 2600.00 bill for dealer $800.00 in tow bills. dealer can't fix it. Had to have towed again to another repair shop. So if you want your vehicle repaired this dealer is not the place they might do oil changes but you will want to check for leaks b4 you leave dealership. read more

I went with my dad to finalize our cash for clunkers program. The salesmen made deals that their boss reneged on. The salesman got very snippy, childish, but mostly accusatory when trying to find and follow through with rebates associated with the manufacture (money Chrysler knocks off the car, the dealer loses no money). Overall we are pleased with the outcome, but unfortunately my experience has left me, once again, disliking car salesmen after trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Refused to do Warranty work on vehicle because I didn't buy it from them. Run folks there are better dealership around.

Went to Chilson-Wilcox for warranty replacement of the leather dash. When I returned to pick up my Jeep I found that there was a prominent spot in the middle of the dash that did not fit together properly. I pointed this out to the service writer who went to get the tech that did the work. The service writer returned without the tech and told me that the tech said it was put together the best way possible. The service writer stated that when they take something apart they don't always go back together as well. The only thing that they could do is put a screw in through the top (of the dash) to hold it down. Give me a break!!! It's a good thing that I'm moving away. There's no telling what my $50 thousand dollar Jeep would be like after a few more visits to C-W. Oh... and the original service writer or the tech noted on the work order that there was a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on after I left. When I picked up the Jeep I was told that the tech didn't have time to find out what was wrong with the car and I would have to reschedule. I don't even know where to start. But if you buy at this dealership, make sure to check everything twice before leaving this dealership, especially if you are dealing with Charlie, the used car manager. We inquired about a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T online with Charlie, and after looking at photos on CarGuru, we asked him what other fees applied to the car. My brother in law gave him a $2,000 deposit to hold the car, and then he sent another $13K and when we went to pick it up a few weeks later we gave him the balance of $6,087. When we got to the stealership, Charlie was no where to be found, so they had us fill out all of the paperwork, and then Charlie showed up. (How Convenient) Then he took us out to the car and showed us a few features of the car, then spent about 30 minutes talking about the radio, which I found out later didn't even have BlueTooth (Lie #1). He told us it would cost $500 parts and labor in able for the BlueTooth to work. We were driving home and I discovered some cracks in the dash bezel, and the fog light was loose and not working. I contacted Charlie via email and his reply was no way it left like that. He also said he was a stand-up guy (Lie #2). The light I fixed myself, and I had to get it detailed ($135) to get most of the swirl marks out because the car looked really shoddy in the sun. While owning the vehicle, 2 months and 2K miles after we purchased the vehicle the brakes started to make noise. Once again I sent an email to this "Stand-up Guy" and he came back and said it left out of here with brand new brakes, front and back (Lie #3). Certified Pre-Owned my butt. He said maybe I drove with my foot on the break. Also he said New Jersey roads are harder than New York roads. Really Dude??? He also said that everyone in the auto industry knows that to be true. He called me out saying I was a difficult customer because I said his mechanic dropped the ball. Finally he said that my only option was to bring it back to him and for him to show me that the brakes were brand new. I live 4 hours away so those brakes weren't going to be able to make that trip. I got Dodge Inc. involved and they said that they can't force Charlie to do any repairs. Then Dodge set up an appointment at Beyer Dodge and they found that the the back rotors were wore out, but the pads were new. Beyer also mentioned that the rotors should of been replaced on a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle. Beyer called Charlie, but the "Stand-up Guy" once again refused to do anything, as did Dodge Inc. Beyer Dodge did a courtesy rotor replacement saying they felt bad for us because Chilson-Wilcox screwed us over. So after spending 7 hours with Dodge Inc., 5 or 6 emails to Charlie, the car unusable for 2 weeks, and 4 days at Beyer Dodge, we got basically nothing. Be careful when doing business with Chilson-Wilcox and Mr. "Stand-up Guy" Charlie Griswold. As you can see, they were busted by Beyer Dodge for lying about doing work. I don't even know where to begin, maybe with the part of me on contact with jessica about coming and buying the car on Saturday and submitting all paperwork, deposit, insurance info, everything on Wednesday, and then getting emailed about picking the car up Saturday, only to get there after driving 45 minutes to be told that I can't take the car with me because they don't have anyone to do the paperwork. Or having the general manager get in my face while yelling at me" either you want the car or don't it doesn't matter to me," or the part where they sold the car out from under me after I had all ready put the deposit down on it, so in turn they treated us like garbage so I wouldn't take the car (that they had all ready sold) and they wouldn't get caught in the scam that they were trying to run. Maybe I will start with when they refused to give us the deposit back but in the same sentence said he would sell the car out from under me if he wanted to because he could... or that I was told that if I DID purchase the car that they would deliver it to me on Monday, but Jessica (the sales person I was working with) was off on Mondays , so she couldn't have delivered the car to me in the first place. The possibilities are endless with the fantastic customer service and respect that we were treated with. I have never been treated like this, it is completely unacceptable. read more

My review is of the service department. They have done a good job servicing my Jeep they always call me before they make repairs to make sure I'm willing to spend that kind of money. My only huge gripe is 95 bucks an hour!!!! So basically if it isnt warranty work I don't take it there. read more

The most impressive thing about Mr Charlie Griswold was that he listened first time, realised exactly what I needed, and his advice was spot on. He asked the right questions, understood the answers, and made the decision that was right for me, based upon a clear a compassionate assessment of both our situations. He understood as well that the specific car was time sensitive, and within two hours they had financing arranged, on a saturday, for someone self employed, no less. I fetched the car, which he described as pristine, Monday morning at nine am. Pristine is a word one rarely uses, and, in this instance was an understatement. The car was everything described, but better, and was ready to go the moment I arrived, every paper was perfectly accurate, and my worst eccentricities were met with a smile. Charlie was even friendlier in person than on the phone, a gentleman in every way. When I asked the service manager what had been done to the car, he was one hundred percent honest. Thus, I can only recommend this dealership, and especially Charlie, unreservedly. Certainly when the dreaded NE winter arises, I shall return for a Jeep, and hope that anyone reading this will realise that any distance travelled is worth the time, as, although my good luck happened by chance, the reader should feel certain that this place is the best place to go for what they have, they will be honest and excellent. In today's world of impersonal, Charlie and his team are not so much salespeople as advisory team members worthy of trust. We were in the middle of a quest for a Kia Sorento EX and had frustrating experiences with dealers in our area. They all seemed to pull from the same book, "How to Be Pushy and Alienate Customers" because we felt more like a target than a customer. When my wife found the vehicle we wanted in Chilson-Wilcox's inventory, we made a quick call even though it'd be a 90-minute drive to get there. SO glad we did. From the very start, Charlie was super professional, eager to help, and absolutely totally upfront with everything. There was no pressure and he talked freely about the price and vehicle without baiting us with a, "come on in and we'll discuss it" ploy. Even with our unique financing situation, considering we're a 100% online and cash-pay couple with no debt, but also no "credit" built up, he said he'd do his best. And that he did...calling us back just a few short hours later with good news. Honestly, it was the smoothest transaction we've ever made when purchasing a vehicle. No games, no hassles, no combative haggling...just...a purchase. On our terms and at our pace. Other dealers just don't get it. The showroom is inviting, the staff is friendly, just the entire vibe is welcoming. Considering the sheer number of bad reviews car dealerships tend to get out there, it says a lot when someone is motivated and eager to share a *good* experience. I purchased a new 2011 Dodge Journey from Chilson-Wilcox in Painted Post, NY. The business manager talked me into buying an extended warranty for 60 months/60,000 miles. This cost $1126.00 extra. This new vehicle already comes with a Dodge Factory Warranty for the first 36 months/ 36, 000 miles. He told me the extended warranty started after the factory warranty expires. What he didn't tell me was that the so-called extended warranty starts with the day I take possession of the new car. Why would an extended warranty for 60months/60,000 miles start on day one when Dodge is covering the first 36month/36,000 miles? I didn't discover this until I traded in the Dodge at another dealer. This Dodge was still covered by the factory warranty. I contacted Chilson-Wilcox and they refunded my $538.00 which was less then half my money I had paid. I expected the full amount minus a $50.00 cancellation fee. I paid this 1126.00 to Chilson-Wilcox and the refund check for 538.00 came from them signed by Scott Chilson. I had purchased two new vehicles and one used one for my nephew from this dealer but I will never buy another one from Chilson-Wilcox or recommend this dealer to anyone. This is an unethical and fraudulent business practice. Their business manager misrepresented this warranty to me. I paid for an extended 60mo./60,000 mile warranty but what I got was an extended 24mo./24,000 mile warranty that was to start after the Dodge Factory warranty expired. 03/18/2016 - Purchased 2013 Jeep Wrangler 03/24/2016 - called to report suspected Oil Leak. Spoke with Charlie Griswold at 6:45 pm 03/25/2016 - called service department to make an appointment to have Jeep repaired. Appointment made for Monday 03/28/2016. 03/28/2016 - dropped vehicle off to be repaired. Asked both Charlie and Bill in service to please make sure the oil that had ran on the engine be cleaned up so that we could monitor it afterwards to make sure nothing else was wrong or leaking. Picked Jeep up that evening. Did not check to see if oil was cleaned up underneath vehicle engine because it was raining. (Replaced Oil Filter Housing.. Stated this was the cause of the oil leak.) 03/29/2016 - Email exchange with Charlie Griswold voicing my disappointment and sincere displeasure with Chilson Wilcox Dealership and Service department (before realizing the oil had not been cleaned up after the repair.) 03/29/2016 - Late afternoon. Found that oil had not been cleaned up after repair. Called Chilson Wilcox at 5:00 pm. Was transferred to Bill in the service department. Asked him if he could tell me why the oil had not been cleaned up after the repair? He stated it was after hours, he was not going to listen to me complain, and that I could call back and make an appointment with the Recon department to have my engine hosed off. I told him that my husband would do it himself to save us another trip to the dealership. 03/30/2016 - Took pictures of the excess oil that was not cleaned up. Then cleaned off the oil so that we could monitor to make sure there was nothing else leaking. 04/10/2016 - Upon inspecting the engine compartment after driving the Jeep for 10 days found Oil to be leaking again in the same area as first reported. 04/11/2016 - Called Jeep headquarters Case # . Jeep to on 04/14/2016 to find actual cause of oil leak and be repaired again. 04/14/2016 - Jeep at current Service Department. Source of Oil Leak is a Timing Chain Cover Gasket. Which was found in a matter of 15 minutes. 5 to 6 hour repair job. Thankfully the Warranty covers this! If you have a few extra minutes read the email exchange....
