The build-your-own chilaquiles concept is the easy menu selection to make at this buzzy brunch eatery. It's so simple: Step 1 - choose your size (SM or MD) and protein. Step 2 - choose the type of tortilla chip/ totopo (fried or baked). Step 3 - choose your sauce (no spice or mole; medium spicy, or very spicy). Step 4 - Add more flavor for extra $. I opted for a small with chicken (175 MXN), fried totopos, and no spicy with mole (+12 MXN). The mole sauce was so, so rich and robust (almost chocolaty) and chips stayed crunchy despite being flooded in the mole. Protein portion was advertised at 125 grams (~4oz) on the menu and I definitely received the full portion. The S.O. elected for something different in the form of the Enmoladas (196 MXN) - corn tortillas drowning in a sea of mole sauce, filled with shredded chicken and topped with cheese and sliced avocado. The main feature here was the mole, as expected. Corn tortillas were toasted to an extent to lend some texture and an enjoyable crunch to the dish. Overall, it's an outstanding brunch spot. Although seemingly westernized in appearance, there were plenty of Mexican dining in so the concept seemed acceptable enough locally.

Fried chilaquiles w/ 5 chiles sauce

The chilaquiles were good! Not the best I've had but definitely good! I like the create your own idea, there's not that many places that have something like that on the menu! I got the fried chilaquiles with cheese and the 5 chiles salsa. For some reason I thought it was going to be a spicy green sauce, but it was red sauce. So there is no spicy green sauce, the green sauce is non spicy. The only downside was that we were told it was going to be a 20-25 min wait, but we waited about an hour. Service was alright, took our order and it was just normal. I loved the ambiance, we were seated outside on a beautiful sunny day so it was perfect!

I love the build your own chilaquiles idea! I stopped by solo for a Saturday brunch. It was about a 20 minute wait, but many folks were hanging out on the sidewalks until called. I was sat at a shared table. Service was quick and wonderful. So good - everything was super flavorful. Well worth the wait!

Amazing build your own chilaquiles!! Even for a small size, the portions are huge and everything tastes fresh. The steak is amazing, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the panella cheese was soooo good. It was only $33 is USD for my husband and I to both get chilquiles and americanos! We were there at like 10:30ish on a Thursday and there was no wait. Great neighborhood and park nearby to walk around as well. The restaurant itself is indoor outdoor and very pleasant and pretty.

The food was awesome and the service great! Had the steak with egg, avocado and everything it came with. Washed it down with their Zen juice. Didnt have room for dessert so took the flan home. It was small but delicious, not too sweet.

Meh. Decent, I enjoy the concept of build-your-own chilaquiles. Place is definitely designed for the gringos and was unsurprisingly busy on a Saturday morning. Waited maybe 15-20 minutes for a table. Chilaquiles are around $150-200 depending on what you get. I had the pollo and added an egg and it was about $200. I ordered the larger portion and it was satiable but not overwhelming. Service was fine but nothing to write home about. Anyway, there are better and cheaper chilaquiles around. Wouldn't come back.

Build your win chilaquiles. A lot of options to customize your chilaquiles anyway you want. Absolutely delicious. I had the eggs with mole sauce. Friendly and efficient staff. Very welcoming to tourists. Safe area of town.

This place is located in a nice neighborhood. There is a line to eat here. 20-45 min wait. It is worth the wait. The chilaquiles were the best I have ever had. The menu allows you to built your own breakfast. I picked red meat and added avocado. It was delicious. They also offer coffee and juices. I picked the red juice which is made purely with berries. It also was delicious. The service was good.

Love chilaquiles?! Well it's a must to try them here. It's a cute cozy restaurant with honestly more seating outside than inside, yet it's tan very well. These have to be the BEST in the city. If someone can top these, I'm open to hear it. Yet from the service to the food you can't go wrong. Get you a yummy red juice on the side and it'll be chefs kiss. The servers are bilingual for those who aren't that great with English as well. No rsvp so definitely get there early! Thankfully they move very efficient.

Huevos aporreados & build your own chilaquiles (baked chips, medium spicy salsa, fried eggs, portobello mushroom, avocado)

We had breakfast at Chilpa the day we arrived in Mexico City. The service was prompt and the sidewalk seating was really cute. I loved all the different variations of chilaquiles you could build. I ended up ordering the baked tortilla chips (which were perfectly crispy), with fried eggs, portobello mushroom and avocado. It was delicious and super filling (even though I ordered the small). I was literally full even when lunch rolled around. My husband ordered the Huevos Aporreados (scrambled eggs with cecina steak). He didjt love his dish so I'd stick with chilaquiles if you decide to visit. We also tried the orange, carrot, ginger juice, which was really refreshing.

We were visiting Mexico City and staying in Condessa. Came across Chilpa and the place was very busy with a lot of people waiting. We put our name down and were able to get a table in 30 minutes. I had chilaquiles for the first time in MX and were blown away with how delicious they were. We also got the French toast which was perfectly sweet and tasty. Everyone around was having Chilaquiles too so I guess it is safe to assume that this place is a popular one to grab a bowl for many. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny morning and the vibe was quite lovely with a great meal.

This is a review from a vegetarian person's perspective. This place is great for brunch. It's quite popular so there may be a bit of a wait. We did the Build Your Own chilaquiles and it was fabulous. I'm a vegetarian and found it to be great. There are a ton of toppings that you can add in addition to the protein. We did the house sauce. We also added avocados. For eggs they asked for fried or scrambled- fried still ends up being a bit runny so make sure to specify. Some folks in my party asked for a smaller bowl and I don't think the server put that in properly because their bowls were the same as the large size. The French toast is also quite good; as is their coffee.

Im obsessed with the guy who comes and sings around lunch time at chilpa. He kind of sounds like UB 40. I love him so much, I come to CDMX and chilpa just to see him!

Banana bread wasn't on the menu but don't skip it. Totally worth getting

The restaurant seating does give mall food court vibes, but that's ok i wasn't looking for anything fancy. All the wait staff and servers were very friendly and attentive at all times. Food does not take long at all to come out. Overall the food was disappointing. The only taco that was decent and had some flavor was the chicken taco(pechuga). Quite literally everything else was flavorless. The sauces on the side were the saving grace for every item of food I ordered. The ribeye taco was soaked in grease, which made eating it messy. The chuleta taco had no flavor and i would even say tasted bad. I do not recommend it. The food is definitely overpriced, especially considering the area and the amount of taco vendors that sell better tacos. Now what made this experience terrible was my waiter. I ask for the check and the total was $1139. I told him i was paying cash and i put down $1150 cash. He then taps at the receipt saying there's a mandatory tip and service fee. So he added on $100 to the bill right there on the spot. I analyze the receipt he handed to me and none of this is reflected on the receipt. I refused to argue so i put down the extra $100 and asked for the change. Tipping isn't mandatory especially for a table of 2. So i feel the waiter just made this up. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY and save some money. Theres better tasting food at way better prices in the area.

The patio was very inviting, so even though it was a bit chilly we sat outside. Our waiter was great, he was also busy, but we got our orders in and received in a reasonable amount of time. The cocktails were off the charts. Honestly can't remember what they were, we got two with Mayan honey and spices, and they were phenomenal. So fruity and spicy and served in an aesthetically pleasing way. One was the cocktail of the month, Aperol and mezcal, why not? Tasted like a, "fruity fireplace," according to our friend to which we wholeheartedly agreed. They gave us each an elote amuse bouche which was a tasty surprise and got us ready for more tastiness. Had a variety of tacos that we all enjoyed immensely. Cauliflower-both types were equally good. Birria queso was incredibly rich and just saturated with flavor-in the best way possible. Had esquites with blue corn and ham croquettes that we thoroughly enjoyed, especially the side salsas. Definitely had to do some negotiating when divvying them up since all of use could have eaten more. This place is not inexpensive, you will drop some money here, especially since you'll want to keep trying cocktails and tacos, but it's worth it. Name on the door was Maiz y Tinto, so that confused me for a bit.

Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from.
