On my way to DFW and dropped into Chilis. Combination of Collins Street being closed not dining here in years, nostalgia for the CFS and not wanting the standard roadside fare of burgers and tacos. Note CFS is only only the menu for participating restaurants. Stepping greeted by the hostess and eye the bar, it's full and all the booths in the surrounding lounge are occupied or need to be bussed. I turn to her say I guess I'll take seat and gesture toward the separate dining area, for some reason she keeps telling me I can go into bar. Had to state that "I will dine in and you can take me to a table" Her reply "Oh, I can do that". In retaliation, I'm sure she seats me next to a large party celebrating a kids birthday and amongst other families of young children. The queso was completely burnt.. TWICE!! The triple dipper looked like it had sat out for hours (which was the entree for the birthday boy), and was completely inedible. The cheese fries that came after our food had jalapeños that were so old, the manager even said that shouldn't have come out that way. The margarita chicken was cold in the middle and again, was completely inedible. Out of 6 dinners, 3 were eaten. Out of 3 appetizers, only 1 was eaten. And again, the manager did not even care to listen. He simply walked off while I was talking and said he would take the appetizers off the bill. It was a tough place to get a seat on a Friday or Saturday night BEFORE the Applebee's opened next door. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed for amount of business they were getting. Since then, however, seating is easier and the quality of the staff has improved. I have met all the managers (some are gone now), with the various experiences (good & not so good). The wait list time lies. We picked this location for a group of 6 as the wait time said 15 minutes. Added name to online wait list. Got there and was told, sorry times on wait list are wrong. You are 3rd on list and will be 45 minutes. We stayed in our car as due to COVID no seating inside. After 1 hour I went in and asked about our table. It took another 15 minutes, so total wait time 1 hour 15 minutes. The table they put us at was vacant the entire time as we could see it through the window.
