I went here for my husbands birthday with a party of 17. Granted we were a large group... but with that in mind you would think they would have assigned at least multiple servers to check on our table (made reservations in advance so they could have planned). The one side of our table was completely pushed to the wall so if one person had to get up on that side then the entire row of people also had to get up and left them out. The fried pickles sucked. I don't know if it was just an off night or maybe they're always that bad? And our waitress didn't really check up on us as often as I would have liked. I came here for lunch with a group of six women. Their lunch menu is very reasonably priced. I ordered the enchilada soup which was delicious. I also had the chipotle chicken bowl. While it was very good, it was a little too spicy for my taste. But that's a personal matter. Many of my friends have complained about the poor service but I didn't experience that today. Worst Chili's I've ever been to. Gave them two separate opportunities. Both times had horrible unfriendly service. Bad food,cold dry tasted like leftovers. Second time we went with friends and waited well over an hour with others arriving after us getting seated before us. To top it off, they offered our party two separate tables!!! I can only hope one of the managers/employees reads these reviews and realizes how horrible your establishment is! I'm going to Applebee's, at least their food comes out hot and fresh. We used to go to Chilis often. However, during our last visit we had a pretty bad experience and we just cannot push ourselves to return. During our visit we ordered beef fajitas and shrimp. When we got our plates, we were surprised to find a bunch of hair, not one hair, a bunch of hair clumped together with the meat in my plate. The feeling was so disgusting that even though our server apologized and told me that they would cook another plate on the house, I declined her offer and decided not to eat. I watched my wife as she reluctantly ate her plate and I just drank my beer. I left the place with an upset stomach and disgusted. Every time I remember the incident, my stomach tightens and it makes me feel bad. I know that one bad incident is not reflective of a restaurant but this incident has stayed in my mind ever since. read more

This is one of the nearest places near our hotel. Went to get something to go, ordered the steak med - rare and it was rather decent.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Waited 10 mins to be greeted only to get an attitude when asked who our server is. He was preoccupied cleaning tables and walking around. Wrong appetizer, wrong order, wrong ticket and it all took about 2 hours. The manager "took care of" our appetizer, dessert and all the extra charges on our tab. We had a coupon for the dessert and app so technically she just took care of all the charges that were wrongfully added. What a joke! We only ate there bc we were hungry and it was close. I should have read the reviews first but how can you screw up at a Chili's? Don't waste your time and money! read more

Waitress was nice,but took forever to get waited on. Half food was cold. Steak and shrimp is ait good cold.

The service was great the food less then. We got appetizers a kids meal and two entrees all the food even the children's broccoli side dish was heavily salted.. Ribs were dried to the point of jerky.. The shrimp skewer was rubbery and salty.. On a positive note the manager was truly disappointed took twenty off the bill and asked for us to come back.. It seems that bad service is a staple of Alamogordo. Food is good here though. Drinks are terrible. Never been to a Chili's and 2 El Ninos didn't make you feel a bit buzzed. Also put salt on 1/4 the rim. Order drinks in advance. We waited forever! And it seems as if the servers wait right next to the bar for the drinks, never see them. read more

Staff very pleasant however went to eat there three times and each time they ran out of not just one item we ordered but two. It happened twice of the three times we are there. Another table by us had to stop a waiter and ask for their drinks--- This is how you DONT RUN A RESTURANT!! You cannot make covers on a Saturday night at 70 mins a table for a group of 6. No way. I agree with the only way they are making it is because its the first thing you see as you come over the overpass..from the Air force Base-- I Have lost all faith in fast food,( not fast here trust me) places that call themselves 'restaurants'. I went to Chili's with my bff, that I haven't seen in a long time. We had the $10 special. I got the hamburger with fries. The second fry that I was about to put in my mouth, almost made it in my mouth. I was so put off that I had to closely inspect my burger. The brought new fries and discounted the ticket $5. I couldn't touch the new fries. The waitress from the time we sat down, basically only bothered to acknowledge my friend. Which I thought it was rude in a less obvious way. I doubt that I will be running back any time soon. Word of caution, inspect your food. read more

We went with our two children on a Monday at 6:30 p.m. We were seated immediately, though they were getting busy. Having read the reviews about slow service, I timed them. We received our drinks within 5 minutes of being seated. We received out appetizer about 4 minutes after placing order. We received our entrees 14 minutes after ordering. One of us has a rare allergy to a common food additive found in sauces and salad dressings: the server did not know whether a particular salad dressing had the additive. The server offered to go look at the package label to find out, but we decided just to ask for the dressing to be left off. (Note that this allergy is rare enough we've never met a server at any restaurant who knew whether the sauce/dressing had the additive, so we can't fault the server.) All four of us felt that our food was of the quality that you expect from a chain restaurant, causal dining setting. It was good, not superb, but in keeping with the price paid. I had a rare sirloin steak which was cooked correctly and was well seasoned. The broccoli the came with it was of excellent quality and in a generous portion. The mashed potatoes were okay, flavorful but nothing special. The garlic toast was a bit spicy, more than I prefer, but still good. Our food was of a proper temperature. We had a good, professional server, she was not excessively talkative, but not unfriendly, just professional and to-the-point. She did get a manager when we asked the question about the obscure allergy. So, overall, we did not experience the problems that other reviewers have mentioned. I found this Chili's to be a good choice for eating out in a small town like Alamogordo. It is not fine dining nor upscale dining. It is standard, chain-restaurant quality food at a reasonable price. Edited to add: On a separate occasion, my wife and I ate just after it opened. I can confirm that the Manager, as reported by another reviewer, was eating restaurant food in the dining area while conducting restaurant business. Ate at Chili's after church today. The place was packed. We had a group of 7 and had to wait quite a while. Finally decided to split to two tables and was seated pretty quickly. I went to Chili's this evening with family, and I wasn't excited about it since I've been trying to eat clean/vegan. Of course the menfolk wanted big greasy burgers. I ordered their Fresco salad with the added avocado and quinoa/wheat berry whatever it was, and my socks were blown clean off my feet. The flavor was magical. I'm going to see if I can find a similar recipe online. It wouldn't fill a starving person, but it was enough for me just then. The waitress was super sweet and extremely attentive. Arrived here today for lunch at 12:55pm. Place wasn't even half-full. I was promptly shown to a booth and my server immediately took my beer order. I didn't see anybody else until my beer was delivered 19 minutes later! I then ordered the $20 Dinner for Two. When I asked for their Santa Cruz steak, I was told they were out of it so I had to order a plain sirloin cooked medium rare. When I asked for the fire-roasted guac as my appetizer, I was then told they were out of the fire-roasted guac. I mean, slow service is bad enough (19 minutes to get a beer!), but they ran out of steaks and guac??? I had to send the steak back to the kitchen because it was totally raw when they served it to me. Medium rare is NOT raw. This place needs serious help. Upper management kinda help. We had the the $9.99 Fresh Pairings. The Southwestern Egggrolls were hot and tasty. I loved the avacado ranch dressing as a dipping sauce. The Margarita Grilled Chicken was served on a base of rice and black beans, Very tasty. Partner had the Margarita Chicken but paired it with the Texas Cheese Fries. We shared the appetizers. What a great idea to put cheese and bacon over the fries and add a few sliced jalapanos. They were delicious. Waitress was attentive and we didn't have to wait. The service here is awful. Every time I order a BBQ burger thru carry-out they forget my onion straws. One time we dined in and the server messed up the order and served me the wrong entree. They didn't refill our drinks the whole time. I called in once to place a to go order and some ditzy girl put me on hold for 2 minutes then some guy got on the phone laughing and said "I'll take your order... but I have no idea what I am doing" and I could hear the girl laughing in the background. I hung up. We are in Alamogordo for a few months on business, so thankfully we'll be home soon and we can enjoy our regular Chili's that has a better staff!
