Chips, sour cream, dip, and salsa with my iced tea. Waiting for the platter. Some of the best sweet iced tea I've had in months .

It can be a little bit hit or miss, but it's always good Today it was great. Probably one of the best meals I've had in a Mexican food restaurant. They are always extremely busy but very quick and extremely nice to the customer. It's actually cheaper than most of the places along the trip, but that's not why I went. I was just hungry. Lol.

We were seated immediately by, I think, the restaurant owner. She was sweet and mentioned we came at a great time on Friday night (4:15p). Our waitstaff was nice, fairly attentive. They serve a good salsa & chips, along with a sour cream jalapeno dip, which was different. Our food came out piping hot and well prepared. The tasty dishes were generously portioned. We enjoyed ourselves.

In my opinion this restaurant is more of a New Mexican restaurant. The white sauce they brought along with the red salsa with our chips is very reminiscent of the sauce they put in gyros back in Germany at a Turkish Gyro Shop. It's good but felt out of place. The green chicken is an enchiladas weren't rolled, just some flat corn tortillas with green sauce, shredded chicken and then cheese on top. The flavor was lacking, the rice was ok, didn't really eat the beans. My kid ordered a bean and cheese burrito from the kids menu and the only cheese on the burrito was the one sprinkled on top of it, I've never seen that anywhere else. The green chile posole tasted exactly like green chile stew, very small portion though, especially for the price. They offer various soft drink options and a few beer selections, there is a two beer limit per customer. Service was just ok, we didn't really get checked on but once. Prices are a little high, they do prefer you pay in cash. The restaurant has plenty of seating, clean bathrooms. They do offer orders to go. Honestly, I doubt I'll eat here again.

Closer to 3.5 stars for me. With a full parking lot and the reviews we expected this place to be really good. The decor is southwest design and the place was clean. We were greeted at the door and sat promptly. We were given chips, salsa, and a very different kind of white sauce and the runner got us our drinks. The white sauce was like a French onion dip mixed with sour cream. It was a bit different for a Mexican food restaurant but my family did enjoy it. The chips were tasty and had some great seasoning on it. Our server brought us a refill on our chips but we asked the runner the second time for some more white sauce. She said ok but never brought us any. I'm not sure what happened there. We waited a while for our server to come (atleast ten minutes) and help us. We asked for recommendations and were told everything was good so we just ordered. We got a chili rellenos plate and CJ's combo plate to try a bit of everything. The green chili posole came out pretty quick. It was nice and hot and had great flavor. I'm a huge fan of hominy so I enjoyed it. There was maybe one small chunk of pork in my cup but it was tender and good. The rest of our food took a while to get to us also. The plates were just okay. Portions are a lot smaller than we are used to. The chili rellenos plate comes with two but they are not big. I'd say you get about 1/8 cup of beans and 1/4 cup of rice. It is spread out so it looks like there is a larger portion. The rellenos were flavorful and tasty. The red and green sauce on top was good also. The CJ's combo was mediocre. It was a small tamale, small cheese enchilada, and my taco shell was stale. I would not order this plate again. The combo reminded me of a Patio tv dinner. It wasn't the worst food or worst service ever but it definitely wasn't a top 10 either. I will say I actually did leave hungry. If you are a small eater or want a lighter lunch, this could be your place. I'm not sure our group would go back.

I saw this restaurant was one of the top rated in Alamogordo, so we decided to stop for lunch. We waited about 20 minutes on a Tuesday for a table for two. After we ordered, it took an extremely long time for the food to arrive. I very rarely comment on long food wait times, but this wait time was truly impressive. I got the Tuesday special, which was just two tacos with rice and beans. I did not know the tacos were going to come in a hard shell. They weren't very great, and the only sauce that came with them was scarily hot. The beans were like solid chunks when I tried to eat them. Very strange. However, this meal was sufficient for a hungry hiker. We had sopapillas, which were a very tasty dessert and very well priced. The staff were very friendly, and the decor inside was very nice, far exceeding the vibes of the past roadside taquerias I've been to.

Took the advice of Yelp to try this place out while we were in Alamogordo. We're happy we did. There was 7 of us so we knew it would take a while to get seated. But we were there less than 5 minutes and were seated. We had a wonderful waitress she smiled and was attentive. We all ordered and ate the chips and salsa she provided. The place was packed so it took a little while for the food which was ok. I ordered the CJ combo. It included a cup of posole. Wow was it good. The rest of the food came out and was really good. Yes we would go back when in town.

For the past 10 days traveling AZ and NM, I have been craving good Mexican food. My hotel recommended and Si Senor and it did not disappoint. The outside of the building doesn't look like much, but that's true of many really good places. Inside I was immediately welcomed and seated. My waitress appeared immediately and was pleasant and efficient, bringing chips & salsa & ranch dressing. I ordered 2 Chile Rellanos in red sauce with double refried beans and no rice. My entree appeared in under 10 minutes and was delicious! Portion was generous. With an iced tea, cost was $16. Would have been 5 stars from me except probably half the tables that I walked by and where I was seated had not been cleared and had dirty plates just sitting there. Not very appetizing. Definitely will return!

My hubby wanted to try CJ's Si Senor restaurant. I prefer family owned taqueria's for delicious ethnic Mexican food. We both ordered the Fiesta combo (chicken or beef); Posole - red or green,1 cheese chili Relleno, 2 ground beef enchiladas, 1 crispy ground beef taco, refried beans and rice. Your choice of red or green sauce, we asked for half & half. Average taco, ground beef enchiladas below average, cheese chili Relleno - not very cheesy. The red sauce was a little bitter, where is the green sauce was very tasty. The refried beans and rice - bland. The red pork Posole; very tender chunks of pork with tender flavorful hominy (meaning it was slow cooked in the red sauce) We topped the soup with the chopped onions and cilantro. The Posole was delicious!!!

In fact, good luck finding many things open in the great state of New Mexico on any given day, except for the cannabis shops conveniently located approximately every 25 feet. Hi-D-Ho Drive-In is open on Sunday evenings, should one not be able to find much open in Alamogordo. To be fair--the food was relatively mediocre and affordable. The tacos tasted like nothing-special tacos, and the enchilada tasted like a nothing-special enchilada. Service was good. The lady taking orders and running food was really great. Ambiance was charming. Burgers smelled amazing. It was a really great experience that I appreciate having had. Then I went inside to pay. And oh lord... oh dear, sweet, benevolent lord... this place is filthier than the filthiest punk-rock squat I have ever stepped foot in. Holes in the floor stuffed with cardboard and covered with a mat? Oh yeah--right in front of the register. You can't miss it! Cabinets that appear to be rotting (or was that mold? Or was it just caked grease?!) from the bottom up? You're darn tootin'! Every single surface covered in clutter and caked in grease? You betcha! That's just the stuff that stuck out. But that's also like being able to describe a fire engine-red loveseat in a landfill and not really recalling all of the other horrors. This place was disgusting! Like... the background of one of those humanitarian aid commercials, all rolled into one tiny little kitchen counter area. Now... to this place's credit. No one got sick, ill, had any stomach issues, or even got indigestion--which is more than I can say about the A sanitation score place down the road from me at home. So, I refuse to claim that the food isn't stored correctly, prepared correctly, or otherwise contaminated. In fact, I am really impressed that the food that came from the Hi-D-Ho kitchen, that I put into my body, did not kill or harm me, but in fact nourished and comforted me. So... I would never go here again knowing what I know now. If I still lived in ignorant bliss and returned, I'd get the burger (smelled amazing). And whatever you do... don't go inside. If you do go inside, wait until after you've eaten, then go inside. If you then go inside, take off your shoes and turn your socks into a blindfold. Stumble your way up to the register, conclude your transaction, then feel your way out and put your socks back on. Better yet, just stay in your car. Get your food carried up, give them your form of payment, have them run it inside for you--but DO NOT GO IN!
