Great place to stop for a quick bite if you love crunchy tacos. Staff is friendly, professional, and attentive which is one of the big reasons we stop here when we travel frequently to the mountains. Today Divina greeted us as we walked in, as she was sweeping and wiping down tables. You can def tell the employees take pride in their establishment. Place is well kept, items are always stocked and clean. Richard's interaction with customers is awesome! He' greeted customers, making them feel welcome. You don't get that at most places these days. Jackie (Jacqueline) on the prep line, made our order just as we expected. Delicious! Well prepared and consistent just like our last visit. OK... it's 1am, you just drove in from Tuscon and are starving. Nothing is open, so you agree to choke down some fast food, and there is Del Taco! Ya sure it's a bit further off the freeway than the other guys, but you are sick of road burgers. Low expectations and very low blood sugar. WTF Del Taco! I just found THE best Del Taco in the nation. And DTs in Los Angeles and OC have real little old abuelitas working there! So this white guy serves up hot and fresh, overstuffed burrito and tacos. I mean, it was fresh and flavorful - and not because we were starving. The wife, who is very anti-fast food and very picky absolutely loved her 2pound bean and cheese burrito. The tacos were crunchy and properly proportioned with proteins vs veggies. Overall, we sat in the parking lot making post-Avengers munching "good shawarma" sounds, and then rolled on to Artesia. I haven't been to a Del Taco in years and I won't be coming back to this particular location. We went by the drive thru and ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Tacos meal, two Beer Battered Fish Tacos, and the Carne Asada Steak Fries. I pulled into the parking lot to check the order and I noticed that the employees had messed it up. They gave me the 2 for $6 shrimp taco deal instead of the meal so there were no fries and they charged me for the drink separately. I asked for strawberry lemonade and I got water with 3/4 of a pulverized strawberry in it. My friend only wanted two of the fish tacos but the employee gave us three and charged us for the 3 for $7 deal. Before anyone gets on my case about it being a better deal with three tacos compared to only two, yes that may be correct from a price standpoint (two tacos are about $6.50) but we didn't ask for three tacos and the employee charged us for an item we didn't want. The fries were ok and had a lot of toppings but the carne asada was weird. It had the texture of pulled pork and tasted like ground beef. This was not carne asada, even by fast food standards. The tacos were good but the $24 bill for everything was a bit too much. I don't know what our total would have been if the employee gave us the correct order, but I won't be going back to a Del Taco anytime soon. read more

Pretty standard Del Taco, with drive through. Fish tacos were frozen batter fried fish, but not great tasting. Soda and fries were ok. Essentially teenage counter staff giving out food, so service was ok. Dining area was mostly clean, with standard slide in booths. Would return if I was in the area again. read more

After years of eating at the T.B we thought to give this place a try on our cross country travel. Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience . I ordered the 2 chicken burritos for $7 as the 50% more chicken advertised on the poster inside restaurant reeled me in. There was very little chicken that I showed to the manager and he added more as he agreed it needed more. Unfortunately the chicken itself which was supposed to be grilled was mushy and light colored with little flavor. So we wasted our time and money , threw away the food and settled for T.B. read more

2.5 stars. I came here for lunch and was told this place had good food. I was interested in the Carne Asada Epic Burrito with medium soda for $7. BTW, the parking was limited and shared with Denny's nearby. I sat down and waited for a long time. I was waiting for my number to be called then noticed the guy who came after me got his food first. I went up to ask if my order was ready. This was 12 minutes after I paid for the food. The order was just sitting there so they apologized and gave me free caramel cheesecake bites. The Carne Asada Epic Burrito was not really epic in size. It tasted okay to me and was better after I added (and tried) the hot sauce at my table. The mild, medium, and hot sauces were all good for the burrito but just depended on how much you can handle hot/spicy sauces (none of them were really hot to me). The caramel cheesecake bites were okay at best. Even though they tried to make it right, it just left a bad taste for their name. 3.5 stars Upon entering, the person behind the counter was in good spirits. I ordered my nacho's and tacos and he was friendly as was the girl making the order. The nacho's were great, hot cheesy and crispy. The Tacos were good but the cheese was cold. The portions were way better than Taco Bell. I would say 1 Del taco is like eating 2 taco's at TB, they're just more filling! Instead, it seemed like a family and friends get together out in the not very clean dining room. We were passing through and needed some "Fast" food . The lady who took my order after standing in an empty restaurant for 5 minutes had to pull out her earbuds in order to here me, and still got my entire order incorrect. i drove an hour and a half to Alamogordo for tux fitting for my sons prom, since we hadn't been to del taco since we left California we decided to go, so we go in and order and first it took 20 minutes to get our food, then when we got the food the employee said sorry for the wait we only have 2 people here, seriously two people? what kind of owner, store manager leaves a shift with only two people, what ever happened to calling people off to see if they want to come in. then when we got to the table we opened our food, the combo burrito was like 33% of the size it should be, the Quesadilla was burnt and barely ay cheese and wasn't even folded right. the fries were cold. i don't think i can blame the staff as like i said there were only two and they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, but they still should have paid attention to what they were doing especially since the cost was 38.00, i would like to give them another chance but i just don't know read more

We ate here while passing through Alamogordo on vacation. I came in the store for a to go order since I knew it would be big. It did take a while but when I got back to the hotel my entire order was correct which is typically unheard of with such big orders. She even upgraded my small fries to a medium because it took longer than expected. The dining area was very clean while I waited as well. The lady who checked me out and another one behind the counter were both very nice. I didn't notice any teens as another review mentioned -so maybe I chose a good night to come. read more

Awesome, one-pound Huevos Rancheros breakfast burrito served hot and fresh. I wish West Texas had Del Taco, I'd eat there regularly. Far better than Taco Bell, Taco Villa, Taco Bueno, Taco Casa, and Rosa's. I have eaten at all of them and Del Taco is the best of the lot. I mean, it is fast food Mexican, but the quality is there. The cooks did not have their masks on properly. I understand that it is hot back there as I have worked fast food, but I also know how important it is to keep customers safe as they are handling food and most of the workers had their masks below their chins. Not only that, one of our burritos were made wrong and when we went back in to ask for the burrito to be replaced, the cook sighed and rolled his eyes at us, laughed at us, and continued to talk about the inconvenience throughout the time that he was remaking the burrito. I actually come here for the burgers & fries. I like the sauce on the burgers. As for my fries, I mix the ketchup with their salsa & make the perfect dip for them. For a fast food place, this place has really good customer service. I've come here maybe 4 times since they've opened to get the avocado chicken bowl and its just as good every time. They also have really good iced coffee, which is not something I'd expect. On 2 occasions, they had us pull around to the front because something was held up, and each time they gave us something complimentary. Such as 2 crunchy tacos or 2 churros. If I'm eating fast food here in town, I'm eating Del Taco for the most part! read more

I have been to this particular Del Taco numerous times. I can say unequivocally that this restaurant has the best Mexican fast food in the area. I usually latch onto their large bean and cheese burritos, or quesadillas, or carne asada tacos. All are superior and the prices can't be beat. I usually use the drive thru, so I cannot speak for the dining area, but the service has always been fast and pleasant. I have NEVER had to wait very long for my food, and it has always been served hot. There is also plenty of parking towards the back of the building, so I'm not sure why some reviewers have complained. Best fast food value around. read more
