Pinch Sitters Agency - PINCH SITTERS

    Pinch Sitters Agency

We were disappointed given the good reviews of the agency and the sitter's profile, which claimed that she has "15+ years of experience with newborns," "focuses on children having a good time" and "gives children devoted attention." - Our sitter left our baby unattended for 20 seconds on a 3-feet high changing table (recorded on cameras that we disclosed), walking away to look for a change of clothes. This is a huge safety concern for a 4.5 month infant who is able to independently roll and could have resulted in serious injuries. There is a safety strap that she could have buckled if she needed to walk away. - Sitter pulled a dirty onesie over his head after a blowout. The best practice would be to pull the onesie down past the shoulders/legs to avoid smearing poop over his head. This further demonstrated her lack of experience in caring for infants. - According to the agency, sitters are prohibited to be on their phones when children are awake unless responding to parents or in case of emergency. Our sitter was on her phone the entire time he was awake and ignored him when he was distressed and crying loudly for food. - Our sitter left the apartment twice to pick up lunch/dinner and asked me to babysit. This defeated the point of paying for a sitter so I could catch up on sleep. We assumed she would bring her own meals or order delivery since we are paying for her to be available. - Sitter left all the dirty baby bottles in the sink. Our understanding is that she would clean up after the baby's meals. We understand that the first day may not run perfectly, however we cannot overlook that our child was put in a dangerous position. We have serious doubts about the sitter screening and training process. To throw salt in our wound, we had to pay a $50 cancellation fee so she didn't come back for the second day of our booking. We raised our concerns to Lisa, who acknowledged some of our concerns but ignored the point about leaving a baby unattended on a changing table. She told us that she would continue to employ this sitter, but that she would not be assigned to us anymore. We will not be using Pinch Sitters again.

I was recommended this agency by a friend. Lisa and her agency were really amazing! My children had never been with anyone but family but we were in town for a family trip and my husband and I had tickets to a Broadway show. I was nervous but since reaching out to Lisa, I felt like we were in good hands. We felt very comfortable after meeting our sitter and my kids loved her. It was an amazing experience and we now can't wait until our next trip to the city to use this agency again!!

As the owner of this facility, she never once called me to discuss what happened. She never apologized. She instead chose to hold 2 meetings on Jan 3 and 4 with all enrolled parents where she blatantly lied about myself and my two year old, and falsely said Scribbles was cleared of all allegations. Her only communication to me is via responses on review sites - one of which was a nasty comment that she then deleted. How grossly unprofessional. To clarify for parents - Scribbles was never cleared by the state. There was no "additional complaints." We gave all information during our initial call, and followed up with emails containing the video footage of her staff pushing and yanking my two year old. There was no a-ha moment where we supplied additional stories to the state. That's not how this works. Further, after the parents meeting, I confirmed with the Supervisors at the State Office of Licensing that the investigation was still open. They confirmed that Scribbles would not have been told by the investigator the outcome, as- at that time - it had not been finalized yet. As you can see from the attached report, the three investigation dates took place on or before the parents' meeting; there was no follow-up investigation after that date - Claudia's rationale makes no sense. Claudia and her team knew the details of this incident immediately, yet continued to minimize it - even though we have their video surveillance footage of this aggressive treatment. Furthermore, she threatened to sue me to keep me from sharing our truth, not knowing that I'm fully aware of what constitutes defamation (Claudia FYI I went to law school. What *you* did is indeed defame our family.) During the Jan 3 and 4 meetings, Claudia and her assistant director reassured parents that they could feel confident leaving their children in the hands of these two staffers - yet now, she has chosen to fire them? She watched the video of her staffers aggressively shove and yank a two year old, but it took 6-8 weeks for it to sink in that's not acceptable behavior? It's clear that the only reason this step was taken is that the State substantiated each and every allegation against them. If the owner truly cared about making this right, she would have 1) called me directly to apologize and 2) taken immediate disciplinary action against the staffers. Instead she and her assistant director downplayed what happened by saying "it looked worse on video," they mocked me and my husband for not letting this go silently, and they engaged in a blatant campaign to malign us. I will continue to refute every mistruth that is put out against our family. My 2 year old will not be the scapegoat or be further defamed. The silver lining in this is that we have pulled our child out and she is flourishing at her new Center. She has learned more in the past 8 weeks than she did in 7 months at Scribbles. The differences are stark. Interestingly, we have not received any negative reports on her behavior - which sadly is the justification they used to excuse their staff's behavior. This saga has weighed on us, and we are happy it's over.

Our daughter has made a lot of friends at the center, but has also become close with each and every teacher there who have become like family to her given the very little turnover we have seen. She always refers to them as her best friends! My daughter has learned so much at Scribbles. She has learned to count, do her ABCs, recite nursery rhymes, and writing skills - usually showing me what she learned before I even thought to teach her. They also were crucial in helping to potty train her at a younger age and were very diligent in ensuring she did not have foods that she is intolerant to. Like all daycares we had a few situations that we preferred to be handled differently, but all I had to do was speak or text with Mrs Angie who would always be responsive and work with us. One time she even went as far as having an in person meeting with me and had prepared with a complete time schedule of what our daughter did during the day based on the video footage. She is great on handling the administrative aspects as well. We will miss Scribbles, but we are so grateful for the time our daughter got to spend there.

My husband and I noticed how fast he developed and advanced academically. She was kind, loving, and always kept the kids busy with various activities over the course of the day. Ms. Peralta left suddenly a few months after we started, and things immediately took a turn for the worst. In fact, it seems like many of the experienced teachers had left this year, and the administration chose to promote the assistant teachers, who were highly inexperienced and lacked the proper training and qualifications. During the few months we stayed at the school after Ms. Peralta's departure, my son was moved from the toddler classroom to the preschool classroom. This was a complete disaster. His new teacher had a short temper. It was almost daily when my son would come home and tell me that his teacher was angry. I had heard from other parents in the class that they had noticed her temper as well and addressed it with director. She did not invest in the kids education, and was constantly having them sit on the floor as they passed the time. It had turned into more of a daycare than a school. My son even started forgetting the numbers and alphabet he learned in Ms. Peralta's class. His new teacher did not invest any time in the curriculum or his education. This isn't even the worst of it. A few weeks before our departure, I received a call from the school director reporting an incident that had taken place. Apparently the kids had returned from their daily play on the playground, and my two year old son was forgotten outside and left alone on the playground! Thankfully, another teacher saw him and reported the situation to the director. The director informed me that she had the intention of addressing it with the teacher and other staff. Regardless, I was absolutely livid to hear this. After this incident there continued to be no improvement in the quality of care or education, so we decided to pull him out permanently. I hope this review helps prospective parents make an informed decision on where to send their child. As I mentioned in the beginning, it is all dependent on the proper teachers. It seems like all the experienced teachers left during covid, and the administration made some poor choices with the teachers they hastily hired. I would also like to note that the school director and assistant director genuinely cared and wanted to work with our family on resolving these issues. However, it just got the the point where there were so many issues with the teacher that we could not stay at this school.
