I've been an employee at Children's Learning Adventure for the past 3 years and was absolutely heartbroken to say my goodbyes just yesterday as my family and I prepare to move to California. Now that I am no longer an employee I feel as though I can leave my records of experiences with an open mind. A little about myself and my past experiences - I've worked with children for 14 years, and due to my husbands military career I've had experiences in multiple states with all age groups and in all positions. I came to visit Texas 3 years ago in preparation for our upcoming move from Virginia. I was prepared to deliver my resume all over League City to find my perfect fit. My search didn't last long. I walked into CLA and was immediately impressed, the building is beautiful and oozed cleanliness, the front desk staff was friendly and welcoming and suddenly all my nerves disappeared. I filled out my application and interviewed with Assistant Director, D'Anne. The conversation flowed and she seemed to approve and I was able to meet with Director, Vanessa. She walked me through the school and was honest with me about where she felt their weaknesses were and what her expectations would be of me. The upfront honesty and willingness to look into herself and her school with such unbiased eyes was a welcome feeling. My mind was made up - CLA was to be my home away from home upon arriving to Texas. The curriculum is outstanding - different from anything I had seen before. The kids travel to a variety of enrichment classrooms throughout the day; in each room is a planned and prepped activity for the kiddos, so they are engaged and active throughout the day - even our preteens were happy to be there, and if you have one you know how mind blowing that is. They truly are like family within that building. It was unlike any experience I've ever had. My training was lengthy and thorough. The training management made sure I was well aware of not just CLA policies but all Texas State Minimums - and coming from another state I was so happy to have had that thorough of a training period. The overall feel of the building is a happy one. When you walk through the halls and peer into classrooms you see smiling kiddos, teachers on the floor or at the tables working with their students - learning is evident with just a quick stroll down the halls. Personally, I have grown in so many ways thanks to my time there. Vanessa is not just interested in seeing her school grow, but her team as well. She pushed me in ways I've never been pushed before and working with her has given me more motivation and determination then I've ever had before. Due to her motivational talks and high expectations I'm happy to say that this school has changed immensely since I started 3 years ago. If you don't believe me I encourage you to check it out for yourself - it really is amazing. I'm thrilled to have been a part of such an amazing place with such wonderful people but I can't wait to see what the future holds for these people. As for the recent negative reviews that have surfaced...all I ask is that you take the time to really think these claims through and before passing judgement visit the campus and ask yourself - would anyone really want a child to fall ill here or lose their life here? As a child care provider, and a decent human being I know it's the last thing that I ever want to happen. Should I ever return to Texas there is no doubt Vanessa will be getting a call from me. Our kids have been going to CLA for 6 years and we absolutely love the staff! Many of the teachers that were there when we first started are still there now. CLA has become an extended family to us; when my child first started here six months ago, it was his first time in a daycare/school setting. CLA was very helpful in getting him adjusted as well as myself, someone always answered the phone when I called to check in, always patient and kind when I asked ridiculous questions. The teachers have always been very communicative in regards to my child's day, asking questions on what we do at home to be accommodating to his understanding and routine. We all work together to ensure that he is thriving in a productive environment in school & at home. Wonderful daycare and preschool facility. The staff is not only amazing, but the environment itself is one of a kind. I LOVE that you can see through the classrooms and front desk is always greeting you with a smile. The management team is amazing and willing to listen to any questions or concerns at anytime. My oldest son has been attending Children's Learning Adventure for over 3 years now. We were very impressed when we toured the school and knew that this was where we wanted our son to be. The Pre-school program and teachers have done so well with helping him learn and grow. Since having our second, I cannot say enough about the infant room and toddler room too! Our little guy loves his teachers and looks forward to seeing them everyday. My 3 year old son started here in July. My husband and I were very excited to have him enrolled, because we knew the Pearland location was great. Everything went smooth for awhile and then small things started happening. My sons jacket kept going missing, they allowed another child to wear and piss in my sons clothes, they bagged them up then left the clothes in his cubby for 2 days before finally giving them to me. And they mysteriously had no idea why another child wore my sons clothes. My son started refusing to go to school, screaming and crying that they were mean to him. I assumed it was just because he wanted to stay home. My son started saying his teacher was hitting him, and my son never says things like this. The school assured me this wasn't happening. Suddenly random, unexplained marks started showing up and when asked suddenly none of the teachers knew anything. He constantly came home sick. They do a THREE HOUR NAP TIME. And expect 3 year old children to lay down for 3 hours lol. The teachers themselves can't even spell properly on the daily reports, and don't expect those everyday either because you do not get them. So here's the kicker, the push to unenroll my son from this horrible place. 2 weeks ago I started getting phone calls everyday, about 4 to 5 times a day and even have had to pick up my son because of his behavior. The things they said my son did, he has never done, anywhere not even at another daycare. I went to a trunk or treat event, and observed my son with other kids. A child kept pushing him, numerous times and pushed him out of line. The teacher yelled at my son to get back in line, and didn't say anything to the other child. Hmm..ok. then they said they were picking my son up to put him in time out and he swatted at a teacher. Why the hell are you touching my son to begin with? My son was getting in trouble every day for his behavior at school. He was begging me to listen to him, saying he's a good kid over and over. This is when I started to question everything, because my son never acts like this. Decided to do a parent teacher conference with the worst director I've ever spoken to, Vanessa. She brushed past all of my questions, told me to watch nanny 911, told me I run my husband and blamed everything on our parenting lol. My son did a free day yesterday at another daycare to see if it was for him, or the school like I suspected. This daycare said my son was great, a typical 3 year old and that I'm not the first one to come from CLA with these complaints. The first thing my son says to me when I pick him up from the trial school is "mommy I like it here they're not mean to me and they don't hit me" Wanna know how all this ended? I get a call today, and they tell me my son is kicking and screaming during nap time, and they are sending him home. I say ok that's fine today is his last day anyway. They tell me yeah we know, we already got the call. I get to the school and my son is sitting up front, calm as could be, with all of his stuff. He had not been crying. AT ALL. So you're telling me for the last two weeks you've been singling out my son, embarrassing him and having him in front of everyone in trouble, while he watches other kids play because you can't properly train your teachers to handle a fucking three year old child? YOURE TELLING ME YOU GOT THE CALL MY SON WAS UNENROLLING TODAY, SO YOU DECIDED TO LIE ABOUT HIS BEHAVIOR SO ID COME PICK HIM UP SO YOU DIDNT HAVE TO LET HIM FINISH HIS LAST DAY? Karma is real. If I could give ZERO stars I WOULD. This might be a million dollar facility but the level of professionalism and respect for the children equates to something out of the third ward. My school aged daughter was bullied and scratched by another girl on her second day and the workers didn't feel the need to notify me. The same worker, COACH D, in charge of her class/ driving the bus threatened to WHOOP her. Another older lady Ms. JUDY (I believe), TAUNTED my daughter in front of the class and called her a crybaby. When I reported the incident, I was shrugged off. Instead of apologizing or comforting my 8 year old (who was upset) they excused the older worker due to TENURE. I requested to see the video footage of the incident bc I knew exactly where and when it occurred, and I was told that they don't allow parents to see footage and "THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS." I walked into the facility to pick up my two children and the woman I reported the incident to, COACH D and ms JUDY, were huddled around my daughter interrogating her. They pulled my daughter out of her playtime to question her without me present. Zero professionalism and zero concern for my daughters feelings or well being. I feel they should have discussed the incident with me- not my daughter AND NOT WITHOUT MY PRESENCE. Upon me walking into the facility to find this scene, I immediately became angry because of their tactics used on my intimidated child. They didn't apologize- they argued- I told them I was fed up and wouldn't even finish out the rest of the week I was already charged for. My children's safety and happiness supersedes the amount of money this facility took from me. I walked down the hall to get my 18 month old son, upon which the teacher said he was crying because they had just PUNISHED him for climbing on a bookshelf. Anybody with half a brain knows that an 18 month old doesn't have the ability to retain right from wrong. ANYHOW, I began to collect all of his belongings, and realized they had used ALL of his diapers and wipes on other children. Again- the least of my concerns. When I walked out of the voyagers 2 room, I was met by both COACH D and ms Judy who talked over each other yelling at me and my 8 year old- telling us both how we were wrong and they were right. STILL NO APOLOGIES. Ms Judy finally apologized to me and not my daughter- the one she taunted. COACH D continued to yell at my daughter and I and even followed us down the hall yelling at us. This carried on all the way to the lobby- WHERE I FINALLY RAISED MY VOICE. I told him he was extremely unprofessional and there was no need TO SPEAK TO ME ANYMORE. Now, would you pay $1500 a month for this? No! I wouldn't pay $1 for this. This facility is the most vile, ghetto place I have ever been to. DON'T hurt your children's esteem and happiness by putting them here. read more

I wish this was around when I was a kid! My daughter currently goes here and loves every minute of the day, from the culinary classes they do twice a week to the weekly field trips and splash days, she comes home everyday excited to go back again tomorrow. She loves her teachers and has met a lot of new friends up there. I've heard from other parents and managers that they've recently let go of some of the bad employees. So negative reviews on here may be for other reasons than the facility. I would and do definitely recommend CLA to my friends! read more

I pick my granddaughter up today from the children's learning adventure in league city. I was really impressed by the place she really enjoys going there, and the place looked really nice. I was really impressed by all of the kids in her four-year-old preschool class we're all reading books - well they were all looking at books and having them read to them. As a retired teacher I know how important it is for kids to learn a love of reading. And it does my heart good to see that the kids All working on learning how to read and enjoying their books. The playgrounds not huge, but it's well laid out and have some really good equipment on it. They have a large indoor play area and an indoor gym which, considering the Texas' summers, makes a lot of sense. Overall I really liked the faculty and how they were working with the kids. They are also very helpful to me and very nice. I'm very pleased my granddaughter is going there. read more

I would not trust my child's life here, there have been reports from other websites that a teacher there Ms.Julie is very aggressive towards the kids. My daughter would cry, scream and fight when it was time for me to drop her off everyday, and my child used to love school at other Children's Learning Adventure. That was not like her, something was going on. The director got into a conflict with my mother in front of my daughter, when my mother questioned there policies. Then we decided to pull my daughter out of this facility that day and the director condescendingly told my three year old to "have a good future". Who does that? We started our daughter at CLA right when they opened, and we have been truly impressed. Our daughter loves going to school every day, whereas she dreaded it at her previous school. The learning style is very interactive, and keeps the kids engaged. Her learning and development are off the charts. She loves moving to different rooms throughout the day and also loves the all included extra activities like karate and cheerleading. The teachers and staff are very engaged. 100% love this preschool! 3 of my friends also love having their child there. They have met my children's needs in many ways. I have 2 boys (ages 4 and 3) which have both attended CLA since they were 18 months old. I toured 3 other preschools and was most impressed that the children don't have to stay 1 class all day, other than outside play. On rainy days it's comforting to know my boys still burned some energy in the indoor gym. Also nutrition is important to my family and their menu shows the food being served according to the 5 food groups, A+ in my book. My oldest son has a late birthday for public Kindergarten and therefore he will be in CLA's private Kindergarten for the next school year. My 4 year old has had some discipline issues and I've been very pleased with how the teachers and director handled those occurrences. I'm shocked at some of the negative reviews on here, however I know people have different parenting styles and views on how certain situations should be handled. I have worked in restaurants, retail and currently in my 11th year of teaching and there's one life-lesson I learned a long time ago that stays true - You can not make everyone happy! Furthermore, there is no "perfect" preschool out there as there is no "perfect" child nor parent. Numerous negative situations occur in various preschools that never make the media and unfortunately the media only exposes the "bad" events. Childrens Learning Adventure has been taking care of my daughter for almost 3 years now. They pick her up after school from her elementary and care for her for a couple hours till I'm off work to pick her up. I absolutely love the staff there. Management is amazing. Honestly I've never had a single issue the entire 2 1/2 years my daughter has been going there. I've come to think of them as extended family. Some other places may be cheaper, but you can't put a price on the comfort of knowing your child is safe and happy at a daycare. read more

Horribly unprofessional staff observed two "teachers" watching the kids outside on the play ground not girl phones as I wrapped up a phone conversation for work. When my husband called because he was upset she said well the teacher said was checking her time. But I told them to got to Walmart tonight and by a watch. Any professional in childhood development knows #1 watch the kids #2 as a manager of the facility shouldn't rules and regulations already be in place? I too am severely disappointed in this school. When first taking our daughter to such a place that made such promise as far as learning, imagination, and social interaction we were stoked. Over the past school year, however, our daughter has dreaded going to school. The last straw was her teacher Ms. Julia swatted her shoulder because my baby was upset about a toy being taken from her. When they told me they then preceeded to discredit my 4 year old. Not to mention, I start probing my child more and she says the same teacher squeezes her and her friends hands so hard when she wants them to stop doing something. Ok in a weeks time they have proven they are taking the correct step to secure our children. Everyone is much more conscience of who walks in and out of the facility they are id'ing parents at pick up, makes it take longer but hey if it saves 1 child in the next 10 years it's well worth the wait, my faith is being restored and I'm grateful they are taking this very seriously. I am reserving a full 5 stars to wait and see that they continue this effort. read more

We had very bad experience with this daycare!!! I found my 4 y.o. son in Coma at daycare !!!! And no body paid attention to him!!! We lucky that ambulance arrived quickly and Emergency Room team saved my son's life!!! read more

I have so many complaints about this place, but i will only list a few examples. 1) They feed my children snacks that include tortillas with shredded cheese on it or popcorn mixed with fake marshmallow out of the jar... 2) They made a sign for graduation that they hung up in their lobby that said "congradulations"... 3) They promote helping kids with their homework, yet when i asked my son to pull out his homework that he did at daycare for me to see, 80% of the 2nd grade math answers were wrong. So they either did not care enough to really help or aren't smart enough to answer them correctly themselves. 4) They keep stealing our money. They keep double charging us for daycare. When we call them out on it they will not give us a refund, they just say they will correct it the next week... which they don't! They just keep charging our account and stealing our money. Too few staff for amount of kids. My kids had to leave a field trip early because other kids from the day are were acting so poorly. They give problem kids there too many chances. My son has been bullied, kicked, pushed and even choaked there by kids. You are just a number there by most staff. Friendly they are but dont even know my kids names after 6 mo and call about us staying there next yr when I already put my notice in. Sorry i require better for my kids. We moved our 2 year old daughter to this daycare on May 4, 2015 after being in a church center because the church daycare wasn't open in the summer. What a horrible disaster it has been! It is now July 31 and we are enrolling her somewhere else. Her teachers, Ms. Ashley and Ms. Paris were very caring and our daughter seemed happy to see them in the morning but the director Vanessa is horrible. Our daughter has been bit repeatedly and 2 of the bites were so bad they broke the skin. She has had scratch, torn clothing and a bruise on her check. My husband and I each went to the director several times for assistance to help correct the situation ans was assured that steps would be taken to minimize the biting problem- that of course did not happen. Vanessa's excuse for the 3rd time my daughter was bit was "well if she wasn't so cute the other kids wouldn't want to eat her"- terrible response. On the 5th time Vanessa's response to me complaining that we just spent a whole year in a church program without one bite was "well this facility is different and more aggressive then a mothers-day-out program"- again terrible response. One time Vanessa told my husband that she herself would be on the playground when my daughters class was outside (for an extra set of eyes and hands) but the biting continued on the playground. I told Vanessa myself since the biting seems to mostly be happening on the playground so my daughter doesn't need to go on the playground- she told me that was fine. Then of course, our daughter was bit again. There wasn't an incident form filled out when I picked my child up and saw the bite on her forearm (not the first or 2nd time there hasn't been an incident report), my daughter told me it was outside and gave me the child's name that bit her. I confronted Vanessa and the teacher about it. Before I could even finish my sentence Vanessa was yelling at me. She said that I wanted to blame all the bites my daughter was getting on management, but she didn't have a management problem she had a teacher problem. I asked about the lack of incident report and why the older 2 year olds were also on the playground and she said I don't know why the teachers aren't doing their job, I pay them enough money to be doing their job. I brought up that I had personally told her I didn't want my daughter on the playground since that is where the issue seems to happen and she denied even having that conversation with me. When I reminded her that she has spoken with my husband and said she told him she herself would be on the playground she (yelled back) i was, then showed me her book of counts. So I asked why then didn't you make the other teacher go back inside ans she never answered. I asked why there wasn't a form and she told me she didn't know why. I brought up the other times there hasn't been an incident form and Vanessa told me it was my job to look in the folder for them. In front of the kids and parents and other teachers Vanessa was yelling and arguing with me and putting down her staff. It was very unprofessional. When I called corporate to complain I was directed to Alicia, who is the regional supervisor. She assured me that it was out of Vanessa's character and she would address the situation. She was very condescending- I personally think it is unprofessional and rude when another adult calls you my dear, my love and other such pet words and those are Alicia's common words when addressing me. Alicia did however give me her personal cell and told me to call her any time I had an issue, which I did appreciate. The very next week the assistant director tells me they are moving my daughter to a new class. Guess which one it is- the older 2 year olds with the kid that continues to bite my daughter and the teacher that doesn't write up incident reports. That does not sound like a good solution to me. So I called Alicia with the number she gave me and guess who doesn't answer or return phone calls. I called corp and left more messages for someone to call me back and still haven't received a return call. So needless to say we are leaving this mess. Please don't get me wrong, I know that biting is a common action among kids of my daughters age, and that is the way that age group expresses themselves. Getting bit over 8 times is excessive and then being yelled at by the director who also puts down her staff in front of kids and the parents is horrible. Please please keep this in mind... the facility is beautiful and has the potential to be a wonderful place but if you have a bad director you will have a bad experience. I honestly felt my daughter wasn't safe at that facility which is why we pulled her immediately. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about CLA. When I drop of my child early in the morning the center smells wonderful and we are greeted with a smile. One of the basic concepts in business is to under promise and over deliver. This facility does things backwards. They will over promise you all these great things and then fail to deliver on their promises. You will be told all these amazing things your child will do at the facility and they will never happen. They are overbooked and understaffed. Communication is terrible to say the least. You DO NOT get what you pay for here. I could go on and on but best to leave it at that. We were not happy with our experience and would not recommend League City CLA to our friends. read more

My daughter LOVES CLA. She started at 7 weeks old and now at 10 months is starting to walk and talk. She loves her teachers and her face just lights up when she sees them. She especially loves dancing with her music teacher. Everyone is super friendly and I love the updates we receive daily on her feeding/sleeping schedule, diaper changes and activities. The room is always clean and the sheets on her bed are changed daily. Anytime she spits up, her clothes are changed immediately. It is so comforting to know that while I am at work, she is well taken care of. I would definitely recommend CLA. read more

Quite disappointing in some ways. My child has been attending CLA since it opened. In the beginning it was GREAT! Her teachers were amazing and she learned new concepts at a phenomenal pace. Unfortunately the Daycare has grown too quickly and has forgotten that children come first/ children should be allowed to be children within boundaries of safety. There is a major lack of supervision and an even larger lack of physical play time and organized chaos for the kids to grow their imaginations. I'm sad to say that my child has gone from loving school, playing hard, learning hard, coming home exhausted and happy.. To hating school, learning hard while there, but not getting physical activity- not getting to play on the playground due to lack of staff (they are only allowed to go to the basketball court, and the girls mostly huddle in a corner to dodge the boys kicking /throwing balls at them/ too shy to play with the boys) . She now is wired and hyperactive upon pick up, and acts out and fights bed time due to a reserve of energy from a productive day of sitting in a classroom learning important things... Education, 4 stars; kids being kids and playing/socializing, 2 stars. read more
