He would joke when I needed a joke. Made me feel comfortable from minute one. We are many appointments, fillings and crowns in and he is still my all time favorite dentist and I've had many in my nearly sixty years. When I asked their answer was that it is just routine practice, and if I go against their routine practice( not let them do what they want) I should go some place else; however, this unnecessary radiation exposure to my children and Bluffdale Dental routine practice should had been explained to us before it was done to my children and not after the fact. I also asked how often children gets panoramic x-ray the doctor said about every 5 years ( assistant said every 3 to 5 years) then I asked if they had requested dental records to see last time it was done since my children are new to them( their first visit) they said NO! this is so unacceptable! what if the other dentist got this done recently; Bluffdale dental did not care enough to know this information to protect my children against unnecessary radiation exposure which can be harmful to their health. Not a sincere apology or any effort to understand the client's point of view. I am devastated. As far as the visit went my children were very impressed with how well the staff treated them.

When the Dr. Hutching came in to numb my son he was very curt, impatient and immediately starting poking needles into my son's gums. He didn't take a slow or measured approach at all and seemed like he couldn't care less about our experience. When it came time for the actual tooth extraction, he pulled my son's tooth with so much force the crown exploded under the pressure. To add to this my son was crying in pain and he remarked " kids often mistake pressure with pain" and said proud of you, ya did great in a very unenthusiastic tone and immediately left. We have been coming here for over 8 years and the office staff is where I feel there is some need for improvement. I made an appt a month ago for my son's cavity that his orthodontist found. I called letting them know I just wanted an appt to get the cavity filled it was not necessary to have it done immediately (hence booking out 1 month) but I wanted it all done in one appt as we don't live close and since we knew there was a cavity it made sense to schedule a longer appt to get it done at once. At no time was I informed this was considered an emergency appt. Our appt was today. While waiting for the numbing to take affect, the finance gal provided an itemized break down of what our cost was and what insurance would cover. To which I signed and took a photo of. Again, Dr Moody and the Dental assistant were amazing. I do not want to give a lower review for their care alone. When checking out, the finance gal that had brought me the itemized statement before began typing into her computer and said there would be an additional $8 charge for the emergency appt. I was dumbfounded, and rightly confused as at no point had this been mentioned to me. I told her it wasn't an emergency appt, we had scheduled within office hours a month ago. To which she retorted that because I wanted the cavity taken care of in the same appt and not have a cleaning it was considered an emergency. I asked why neither she nor the front desk had informed me of this until this point to which she couldn't answer. I was rightly annoyed. This isn't the first time the office staff has had poor communication which has had a negative affect. I did give attitude to the gal, when I expressed her communication was lackluster. That does not reflect who I am at my core, for that I am apologetic. In the end, $8 isn't going to break me, but the poor communication is really causing me to think twice about where I go when I'm already traveling 90 minutes to the appt.

I had a long wait for one of my appointments (like 20 minutes) and they were like "we were so sorry for the wait, here, have a free fluoride treatment" (normally $20 or $25). The dentist also said that he might recommend a crown due to some overbearing fillings causing me to be unable to floss in between some teeth. But over the next 6 months I was able to floss in between those teeth and he said the crown wasn't necessary anymore. So I built a lot of trust with them knowing that they wouldn't recommend unnecessary procedures. Highly recommend this dental office.

I asked to speak with the owner, and was surprised when I was hung up on. I called him back and back and pleaded for them to help me relieve the pain of the affection. She laughed and said whatever. And then hung up. Now the work that the dentist did on my mouth over the past three years, has left me with what is called chronic ulcers. The surrounding teeth or chipped by the dentist and these chips caused white painful sores on the bottom of my tongue. Sores it to this day have not healed. Sores that the dentist ignored, until I asked him about them, and he referred me to someone else. Nothing was done to alleviate the pain from the sores, sores that I still have to this day. Chronic is caused by the dentist by his work, and were not treat it. I was under the understanding that if the Dennis knew something was wrong with something in your mouth, they have the obligation to tell you. At Family Legacy Dental this is not true. The dentist is there to visit with the nurses, the dentist is there too except Medicaid, did not except the fact that the price they receive is lower. The dentist does not work with people who are individuals without support systems and have disabilities like myself and turning us onto the street with a dangerous infection which ultimately required me to go to a doctor, who looked at it, said that the gums were infected, and gave me an antibiotic. He then referred me to a dentist in cares, one Dr. Wiest in Provo. To make a long story short, this dentist does not care about the patients the owner of this practice does not care about the patients the receptionist and the nurses, all of the same type age and ethnicity, do you not care about the patients. A dentist who could have written me a script and sent me on my Way, chose to allow me to leave with an infection the size of a golf ball, very close to my eye sinus and was actually growing to the other side of my face, with that too bad so sad, and a message from the owner which said we do not want to treat you again and you are no longer welcome in our practice. They will not release my entire records to me, even though I paid for them, obviously, they are going to give me copies of papers that I still have that don't really explain anything other thanThe work that they did on my mouth. They would not give me the x-rays, and they would not entertain for even a second helping me. He caused me grief, and the dentist or the owner neither one of them had the courage to confront me one on one. They let the staff tell me. The staff laughed when I mentioned how dangerous my infection was, and the Doctor Who finally did treat me and my family doctor told me that a dentist who operates an office like that is there for the money not for the health of the patients melts. He said it's a shame that that dentist is allowed to practice, and that everybody on Medicaid is basically forced to use that dentist because of the limited amount of doctors that would except Medicaid. I admit I did change several appointments two different times I did have the Covid which required me to change two or three appointments, and then my insurance changed in January which left me in the dark as to whether or not he could still be my dentist. In an emergency situation he chose to not help me, even though all he would've had to do was write a prescription for an antibiotic. I believe this dentist is prejudiced against those who use Medicaid, because he does not receive his listing price for what he is doing. The owner, doesn't care about anything but collecting money that isn't covered by insurance. I appreciate the fact that the Dennis time is valuable, I know his school is expensive, and I know the owner has a business to run. However, they are authority figures, working in a practice where people are desperate for help. They did a great job of looking at his teeth and helping us to know the best way to brush his teeth. He left with a handful of prizes as well. All around, it was a very positive experience. Update: went in for our next appointment. It went well and my son got his fun little gadgets after. I was fully happy with everything that happened until about 20 minutes later when my son started vomiting. Turns out, young kids sometimes don't do very good with fluoride because it makes them nauseas, like they actually absorb it into their system. I wish I would have been warned! I would have just turned it down. It is now nearly 3 hours later and he's still vomiting about every 30 minutes.
