My last visit was for a cleaning for all four of my children which I made 6 months ago/last year. Before the visit, they confirmed my appointment vis text and that I would be doing self-pay because my insurance had expired, and due to our financial circumstances, we do not have dental insurance this year. WHEN I ARRIVED, I was told the cost of the visit. I was already there and known there would be a cancellation fee at that point, so I felt like it was too last to cancel or change my mind. I was already emotional that morning from other personal struggles, unknown to the staff, and throughout the visit I was holding back tears with the overwhelming financial burden. This unexpected cost just tipped my emotions and I spent the rest of the visit trying not to cry. While each staff member was doing their job and asking me their routine questions, I was short in my responses as I mentally was trying to figure out the best way to pay and texting my husband about what to do at the same time. I left the appointment embarrassed and hurt. A few days later, I called to set up my kids necessary cavity appointment & hopes to ask for financial aid. On the phone the lady told me that I was not allowed back because I had "offended" the employees and made them "uncomfortable" -- I was SHOCKED. I was the one that was embarrassed and felt like none of the front office ladies even gave me an ounce of sympathy or concern but instead just watched me cry. After the call, I even reached out to the Dentist and carefully explained my side. I had no intention of offending anyone at the office and hoped that as a valued, consistent client, he would be more understanding. I had never had a problem with any of the employees there ever. Even though he responded kindly, I am still not allowed back. I am extremely hurt. Why should I be judged by my worse day, rather than given the benefit of the doubt for all my years of loyalty and kindness. My review is not meant to destroy this good business. I simply hope the next person the staff struggles with is handled more carefully - with a little more empathy and little less judgement.

Everyone is friendly and welcoming and Dr. Kevin is very informative. I also really liked how he thanks his staff repeatedly as well as the patients in his care, and the parents for bringing them in an allowing him to treat the patients. Based on my first experience today, I was impressed that he spent quality time with each patient and their parent, he was able to fit us in for sealants rather than make us schedule another appointment. The only issue I had was that the checkout lady gave me a significantly higher price for the sealants than Dr. Kevin mentioned. He specifically mentioned that our insurance covers them, she tried charging me $95. I came home to find my treatment plan and it's only $8. She charged me for fluoride which I think is covered also. But I accepted that even tho I think I was still overcharged for services my insurance covers. We'll see what our EOB says. Office was clean, and I watched them clean after every patient. Definitely happy we chose Alpine Kids for our pediatric dentist.

When the Dr. Hutching came in to numb my son he was very curt, impatient and immediately starting poking needles into my son's gums. He didn't take a slow or measured approach at all and seemed like he couldn't care less about our experience. When it came time for the actual tooth extraction, he pulled my son's tooth with so much force the crown exploded under the pressure. To add to this my son was crying in pain and he remarked " kids often mistake pressure with pain" and said proud of you, ya did great in a very unenthusiastic tone and immediately left. Wouldn't recommend coming here as a new patient if you expect quality treatment or bedside manner.

We have been coming here for over 8 years and the office staff is where I feel there is some need for improvement. I made an appt a month ago for my son's cavity that his orthodontist found. I called letting them know I just wanted an appt to get the cavity filled it was not necessary to have it done immediately (hence booking out 1 month) but I wanted it all done in one appt as we don't live close and since we knew there was a cavity it made sense to schedule a longer appt to get it done at once. At no time was I informed this was considered an emergency appt. Our appt was today. While waiting for the numbing to take affect, the finance gal provided an itemized break down of what our cost was and what insurance would cover. To which I signed and took a photo of. Again, Dr Moody and the Dental assistant were amazing. I do not want to give a lower review for their care alone. When checking out, the finance gal that had brought me the itemized statement before began typing into her computer and said there would be an additional $8 charge for the emergency appt. I was dumbfounded, and rightly confused as at no point had this been mentioned to me. I told her it wasn't an emergency appt, we had scheduled within office hours a month ago. To which she retorted that because I wanted the cavity taken care of in the same appt and not have a cleaning it was considered an emergency. I asked why neither she nor the front desk had informed me of this until this point to which she couldn't answer. I was rightly annoyed. This isn't the first time the office staff has had poor communication which has had a negative affect. I did give attitude to the gal, when I expressed her communication was lackluster. That does not reflect who I am at my core, for that I am apologetic. In the end, $8 isn't going to break me, but the poor communication is really causing me to think twice about where I go when I'm already traveling 90 minutes to the appt.

Visiting the dentist have always been a pleasant experience for my kids. They were never scared to see Dr. Johnson; he is very good with kids. Not only him but his staff; you can tell they have worked with so many children and know the right things to say or how to interact to put the kids at ease. My kids have never displayed any kind of fear or anxiety; or not wanting to go to the dentist. They are eager to go and get their teeth cleaned and examined. The setting feels like a safe, fun and clean place. Dr. Johnson also referred us to an amazing orthodontist who basically fixed my daughter's underbite for free! She laughed and said whatever. And then hung up. Now the work that the dentist did on my mouth over the past three years, has left me with what is called chronic ulcers. The surrounding teeth or chipped by the dentist and these chips caused white painful sores on the bottom of my tongue. Sores it to this day have not healed. Sores that the dentist ignored, until I asked him about them, and he referred me to someone else. Nothing was done to alleviate the pain from the sores, sores that I still have to this day. Chronic is caused by the dentist by his work, and were not treat it. I was under the understanding that if the Dennis knew something was wrong with something in your mouth, they have the obligation to tell you. At Family Legacy Dental this is not true. The dentist is there to visit with the nurses, the dentist is there too except Medicaid, did not except the fact that the price they receive is lower. The dentist does not work with people who are individuals without support systems and have disabilities like myself and turning us onto the street with a dangerous infection which ultimately required me to go to a doctor, who looked at it, said that the gums were infected, and gave me an antibiotic. He then referred me to a dentist in cares, one Dr. Wiest in Provo. To make a long story short, this dentist does not care about the patients the owner of this practice does not care about the patients the receptionist and the nurses, all of the same type age and ethnicity, do you not care about the patients. A dentist who could have written me a script and sent me on my Way, chose to allow me to leave with an infection the size of a golf ball, very close to my eye sinus and was actually growing to the other side of my face, with that too bad so sad, and a message from the owner which said we do not want to treat you again and you are no longer welcome in our practice. They will not release my entire records to me, even though I paid for them, obviously, they are going to give me copies of papers that I still have that don't really explain anything other thanThe work that they did on my mouth. They would not give me the x-rays, and they would not entertain for even a second helping me. He caused me grief, and the dentist or the owner neither one of them had the courage to confront me one on one. They let the staff tell me. The staff laughed when I mentioned how dangerous my infection was, and the Doctor Who finally did treat me and my family doctor told me that a dentist who operates an office like that is there for the money not for the health of the patients melts. He said it's a shame that that dentist is allowed to practice, and that everybody on Medicaid is basically forced to use that dentist because of the limited amount of doctors that would except Medicaid. I admit I did change several appointments two different times I did have the Covid which required me to change two or three appointments, and then my insurance changed in January which left me in the dark as to whether or not he could still be my dentist. In an emergency situation he chose to not help me, even though all he would've had to do was write a prescription for an antibiotic. I believe this dentist is prejudiced against those who use Medicaid, because he does not receive his listing price for what he is doing. The owner, doesn't care about anything but collecting money that isn't covered by insurance. I appreciate the fact that the Dennis time is valuable, I know his school is expensive, and I know the owner has a business to run. However, they are authority figures, working in a practice where people are desperate for help. The name of the business is Family Legacy Dental there was no family ambience in the practice And legacy is a word they used to disguise their indifference to the patient's health. People have free will, you may go to the dentist and you may have a good experience. as a disabled gentleman I feel I should be given a little bit of slack, especially since I paid for everything including the days that I missed.
