Today was my son's very first dental appointment. He wasn't thrilled by it, but he didn't leave terrified of the dentist either. They did a great job of looking at his teeth and helping us to know the best way to brush his teeth. He left with a handful of prizes as well. All around, it was a very positive experience. Update: went in for our next appointment. It went well and my son got his fun little gadgets after. I was fully happy with everything that happened until about 20 minutes later when my son started vomiting. Turns out, young kids sometimes don't do very good with fluoride because it makes them nauseas, like they actually absorb it into their system. I wish I would have been warned! I would have just turned it down. It is now nearly 3 hours later and he's still vomiting about every 30 minutes. read more

We walked in and my son wouldn't sit still so they peeked inside his mouth. Ten minutes later I was handed an invoice for a sedation at the hospital to fill 10+ cavities. The bill was around $2,000. I'm not saying that the dentist didn't see 10 cavities but it was really unnerving to have a 2 minute glance result in a $2,000 bill. I'll be getting a second opinion. And update this review if indeed he has 10+ cavities. Our second visit was worse than our first. I demanded they get X-rays this time and they were able to take two frontal ones. I also asked him to do a thorough examination and held my son while he did it. His diagnosis was 4 root canals (pulpotomies) and 10+ cavities. ... Some kids in my family are born without enamel (my sister is one of them) when she was a baby she had many root canals (pulpotomies). None of my mom's other four children had any issues. Denali apparently has an enamel problem I'm almost sure, and consulting with other dentist's since they have confirmed this. We brushed his teeth yes but we made the mistake of putting 20% juice+water in his sippy cup-never more than that- but the acidity in the juice/water mix and the poor enamel has rotted his teeth. poor kid. The dentist at Burg was very unkind and basically blamed me for his tooth issues and told me in so many words that had I been more diligent and a better parent, Denali wouldn't have these issues. I asked him if it was an enamel issue and he turned his head away and slyly smiled and said, "You can try to blame it on bad enamel if you want, but good dental care can overcome any enamel problems." Seriously I cried afterwords, to add insult to injury the bill was a whopping $3,500!! The receptionist made the visit much much worse. She treated me so badly and kept saying if you don't book now your kid could get an abscess. "You need to make your $150 (or so) deposit on the surgery so your son doesn't wake up in excruciating pain with an abscess" and then went on to explain in child terminology what an abscess is. I'm a university grad with advanced education and have done a lot of dental research since our last visit. I just felt so bombarded, blamed, and pressured. The other receptionist (not a young know-it-all) was very nice and I think wanting the girl to step down from her soap box. But whatever. We have many other dentists in the area. and we've already been to one for a second opinion. We have an appointment with another and have a few other options if they can't do the surgery soon enough. WE will NOT be paying Burg $3,500! read more

This was a great experience for me and my son of 3.5 years old. We went to another dentist a year prior that was tailored to kids and it was an awful experience. This was an experience from a week before his appointment until now. Having everything tailored to a superhero was exactly what my son needed to take away the anxiety. The video they send you to watch before that gives the kids an idea of what will happen at their appointment was cool. The staff was so kind and friendly that my son acted as if was no big deal and just set back and let them go to work. Great kids dentist that I will definitely recommend to friends and family. read more

We love Burg Pediatric Dentistry!! They are so friendly (to kids and adults), professional, and good at what they do. My kids actually look forward to visiting the dentist! You start off the visit by picking out a fun/silly hat to wear, pick out a movie to watch during the cleaning, and on your first visit you get a cool superhero cape! They also have "trading cards" of different dental hero's and villains that you collect at each visit, and they tell explain dental hygiene to children in a really fun way. We not only love the fun environment here, we also love all the staff. We recommend them to everyone! read more

Have been to this dentist 3 times with my girls. The staff and dentist are amazing! My younger daughter (2) is very timid when it comes to doctors and dentist offices. Amber made her feel comfortable, taking the extra time to show her the instruments/tools and was able to complete exam which far exceeded my expectations for the appointment. Dentist was very informative and office always runs on time. Would definitely recommend to anyone who's looking! read more

This was the worst, the office people were friendly, however the hygienist Maria say's "if your not good I will give you a shot" when we walked into the room & it went down hill from there. My daughter was weary of her that everything she picked up was a needle. She was crying and told her it hurt a couple of times and Maria says if you keep crying wolf then I won't know when I really hurt you. She took x-rays and she yelled at her that if she did not listen to her then it would take a lot longer and she had a lot more patients to see, she also said that if she screamed that she would scare everyone else in there. Another bad experience with another hygienist. I wish I could give it -10 stars!!!! read more

I LOVE Burg Pediatric Dentistry. My kids love when it's time to go to the dentist. The hygienists are all SO good with kids. They've got TV's propped up on the ceilings playing the good stuff, like Tangled and Monsters Inc. They've got a "no cavity club" which makes the kids actually motivated to take good care of their teeth. And it's just totally a "kid" place. Bright green paint along the wavy hallway, a play area in the waiting room. Plus they do really cool "customer appreciation days" a couple times a year where they treat all of their clients to some really great kid-friendly day (like bounce houses at Sugarhouse park, a free day at Classic Skating.) And the dentist is absolutely wonderful. Catches things before they become a problem. They also have a great educational presentation available for schools during dental health month (February) where Molar Man will visit, give a great presentation, and leave all of the kids with a Molar Man cape, face mask, t-shirt, and oral care baggie. I couldn't be happier. read more

My 2.5-year-old didn't like this place at all. They hardly did anything to help her feel comfortable. The hygienist kept talking way too fast and with her back turned to us, so my daughter had no idea what was going on. Because of this, she refused X-rays. In the end the dentist insisted that we hold her down while he pried her mouth open to look at her teeth. We won't be going back. read more

We love this dentist office! Dr. Boren and his staff are top notch! My kids always feel so safe and comfortable. My 5 year old even gets excited to come to the dentist...who knew?! We've had it all done too...cleanings, fillings, X-rays, exams, and even a few extractions. My kids have never, not once, had a bad experience...and that's saying a lot! We love Burg Pediatric Dentistry! We go to the one in Sandy, and it is always a pleasant experience. My 7 year old daughter jumps with joy when I tell her she gets to go to the dentist! They know how I make it a pleasant experience for kids. My 3 year old doesn't necessarily enjoy getting his teeth cleaned, but the never push him to do what he is not comfortable to do. Great experience for kids and parents alike. My kids, who were told my a dentist about a year ago they needed teeth pulled have been very reluctant and nervous to go to back to the dentist but, the staff was friendly and kind and both of my kids left with smiles on there faces. The dentist was knowledgeable and able to provide me with good information and so far we have avoided having any teeth pulled and if that does happen I would feel confident in the staff at Burg to take good care of my children and their teeth. read more

I brought my son here for over a year. The last time I brought him the dentist told me that he had 3 cavities. After the dentist left the room the assistant told me that the Dr wanted to use sedation although I do feel there is a time for sedation when a child has a hard time keeping still the dentist did not once tell the assistant he wanted to use sedation and he hadn't even seen the X-rays until he saw my son. I felt like they just wanted to use sedation on all the kids to zonk them out for their appointments. I myself am a dental assistant and none of this felt right so I got a second opinion turns out my son didn't even have any cavities. I would never recommend this place and the only reason I gave it 1 star is because I didn't have a choice. read more

We had such a great experience here. My 7 year old has a huge fear of the dentist. Everyone was so great to my kids! From the front desk, to the dental assistants to Dr. Boren. There were toys to play with, movies, balloons, superhero capes and they each got to choose a prize from the drawer. When I first started taking my kids here, they were great! Extremely kind and patient dentists. However the last few visits have been awful. Dr. Boren has done a few cavities and 1 pulpotomy. My 8 year old started to cry because she was in pain. She did not move a muscle, just crying and stifling. He immediately lost his temper and told her he couldn't finish if she was going to cry. I asked if she could feel any pain and she nodded her hear yes. So the dentist shoved a needle in her face and asked if she wanted more "sleepy medicine". Terrified, she said no and just sat still squeezing my hand. After the procedure her gums were swollen and bleeding for days. I will NEVER take my children back to this dentist!! read more
