I think this horse camp would be an excellent camp if your daughter is an expert rider, has been…read moreriding for years, and has routine access to a horse. However, my12 yo daughter, who had attended horse camp for 4 years in a row, was placed in a beginner pool and not reassessed during the entire week. Other campers road twice per day, while the beginners road once per day, did a lot of chores, and did little else. In the other camps she's been to, she did horsemanship and chores, and was able to ride 2-3 times per day. For $750 a week plus $75 in camp shirts, I expected a lot more from this camp. Both my daughter and I are disappointed in her experience there. She will not be returning next year.

Please beware before sending your daughter to this camp. Our daughter had zero experience but a big…read morelove of horses, so we sent her thinking they would have basic training on riding, grooming, and mucking. We aren't allowed to speak with the kids while they are there so we didn't find out until after we picked her up how the camp went. They spent less than thirty minutes a day riding horses, and were basically day labor to work the property. We knew she would do some grooming and cleanup of the horses but we didn't expect that most of the day would be tending to the place and taking care of other animals. The few times they did ride the owner's daughters yelled at the girls saying things like "Jesus, can't you do anything right" and speaking to each other in German in a way that made her feel like they were speaking badly of her. She said they would tell you something and you had to get it right with just the one explanation. She felt very uncomfortable and was afraid to ask for more instruction. They mostly just walked the horses and she cannot ride a horse any better than the day we dropped her off. They taught her to spin in the saddle while they walked it for her, which is a neat trick, but she wanted is actual learning to ride and instructors that helped. We felt this was a huge waste of a large amount of money and time.

Mrs. Flores takes the time to actually talk to chat with you and really listens to what you have to say. I never feel rushed or anything when I'm chatting with her.

The program is a wonderful balance of structured group activities and free learning, with an emphasis on creativity and character development. Concepts like the alphabet, seasons, numbers, and days of the week are introduced in a fun, gradual way. The thing that really sets the Beehive apart is the warmth and caring extended by the teachers, parents, and kids. Ms. Ertz and Ms. Chesser genuinely love their work and absolutely pour themselves into what they do. They truly do an incredible job and "bring it" every single day. I have gotten more than a couple parenting tips from watching the expert way they are able to soothe high emotions and create an environment where the kids are motivated to act with kindness and respect. Finally, I would like to say that my daughter is seriously ecstatic about her teachers, friends, and all the activities she does at school. She constantly pretends to be a teacher at home now, and she has learned so much from the other kids (thanks to a lot of gentle teacher guidance) about sharing, kindness, and the joys of being a good friend. I whole-heartedly recommend the Bee Hive for anyone who celebrates childhood and wants a holistic, intelligent, loving preschool program for their little one.
