Four year olds take a kindergarten readiness test, transfer students must be on grade level in reading and math. Students and parents sign a contract that states the student will follow the rules and complete all schoolwork. This school requires parental support. The expectations are high, and the academics are rigorous. Children learn, the teachers don't have to waste instruction time on disciplining behavior problems. Children who choose to misbehave are returned to their zoned school. CTWalker has a family atmosphere, parents are welcomed, the PTO is active, the teachers are excellent and the principal rocks! In addition to academics, Walker offers PE, drama, music and art. elementary students have recess daily.

Until then, you will find me taking all kinds of classes to feel the void that I missed from that class. I recently visited @mybestfriendssewingroom in Augusta, Georgia. My goal was to learn the basics of using a sewing machine. While anxiety ridden about using their equipment, as I'm quite clumsy, the instructors eased my shaky hands and by the end I felt confident enough to take another class. Side note: I'll probably take the beginner class one more time so I can focus on my speed as seen in the video. My Best Friend's Sewing Room LLC offers a variety of classes from beginner to advanced. They're classes are great for the young and old. If you have mini me's check out their summer camps or take a class with your mini. Group Suggestions: Have one person book your spots or agree to all book at the same time. The classes are limited and you want to be sure to get a seat in the class. If you own a machine but haven't used it previously, I strongly suggest requesting to use a loaner machine. I would bring my machine for advice and to Mande sure all the parts are there. Solo Suggestions: Prepare to make new friends as it is a close setting and crafty people are immediate friends. The only reason I don't give this school a 5 star rating is because of the teachers. No, I've never ran into a particularly bad or mean one, it's just that as a student, you are expected to be professional at all times, and that's perfectly fine. However, nearly all of the teachers I've come across end up talking about religion in their classes. As an atheist in the south I really am used to hearing about god and getting questions like "what church do you attend?", so on and so forth, but I was raised to believe that religion and politics were two things not to discuss in polite conversation and certainly not in a professional setting. I don't hate or really have any ill feelings towards religious people, I myself was raised baptist and my family all still is. I just really don't like that my class time (and money) are wasted hearing about the religious views of my teachers, it's unprofessional and it simply isn't what I'm paying for. We only have so much time to learn all of the materials for each course and I feel it'd be much better spent sticking to the lessons.

Horrible Communication!…read more I heard about this school from a friend. I decided to call and book for my son. When I initially called I spoke with a lady who told me that this course was a week long course and that I could pay extra to have the driving test administered there. That way at the end of the week my son would be able to get a drivers license if he passed. I thought..why not? I am thinking back to HS where you do both classroom and driving instruction each day. I tried to ask as many questions as I could, but the lady seemed put out that I was asking them and wasn't really forthcoming with anything other than answering what I asked. The week before my son was to attend, I was then told that no, the first week is instruction only and then you have to schedule to drive the following week. So I asked, this is a two week course instead of one? She told me it was 6 hours of driving, but it has to be scheduled, so more like an additional 2-3 days. On the day we drop my son off I am handed paperwork. I have to list all the days and times of availability for the next 6-8 weeks. What?! I was told a week, then a week and 6 hours.. now its 6-8 weeks before they can be scheduled to drive? The miscommunication is unbelievable. So unprofessional.
