We probably checked five other Korean restaurants before settling on Jantchi. The restaurant quickly became busy during lunch. However, service was quick and I got my much needed soft tofu soup (soondubu) with the accompanying side dishes in a timely manner. I ordered the lunch soondubu, which was as expected, a bit watered down, but still hit the spot with the sesame oil flavor I was craving for. The egg is already cracked into the soup, which is not as hot as I'm used to. My boyfriend ordered the bibimbap, which came out in the stone pot and was pretty tasty ! We doubled down on the gochujang, and it was enough to keep our Korean cravings at bay for the remaining trip.

For food we ordered the wings, the dumpling ramen, and the beef & rice. The wings were by far the best part of the meal, they were small but mighty, especially since they're boneless. LOVED them. The beef & rice was ok, but nothing amazing. The spicy sauce was really good. The ramen wasn't the best, and had a pretty strong seafood taste, even thought it had no seafood in it. The noodles were not great, but the dumplings made up for that, though I wish there were more than two in it. All of the staff spoke English. We live in Manhattan and go to K-town often. This restaurant would hold its own there. We started off with excellent mandu and a surprisingly good tofu dish. We shared excellent bulgogi and bibimbop in a stone pot. We also ordered a side of very good kimchi. To my surprise, they served a mean affogato for dessert. The portions were sufficient and the prices were very reasonable. The only thong that was different from our other experiences with Korean food is that banchan were not included. Not a big deal. We were so happy to find this restaurant at first. But on our second visit, they put us in the upstairs area KNOWING it would close within 30 mins. After going downstairs we saw many customers still downstairs and was told that only upstairs was closing. WHY DID YOU PUT US UPSTAIRS THEN? We complained to the server and owner, both of them just shrugged. We are Asians - my husband is Korea actually. This is so embarrassing when our own kind in a foreign country treats people this way. I do not recommend coming here until their attitude improves.

While we didn't have the largest assortment of banchan, they were all quite good. The haricot vert was a little odd, as I have never had that in Korea, but I guess it makes perfect sense in Paris :). Prices are very reasonable, and service was fast. Definitely a nice spot for Korea food in a convenient location.

I was so full at the end and couldn't even finish. The only thing I wish they did was to not "dilute" the spiciness, but this is my second time eating Korean food in Paris and we noticed in general the spicy level is much more mild here than in Korea or the States. We each had the "opera" set menu which included fried dumplings, soup, and a choice of entrees. Everything was quite decent. The dumplings were hot and crispy with tasty filling but seemed like they were store bought and not made in house. The soup was decent but a bit bland. I had the bulgogi for my entree which was grilled at the table. It was also decent but not particularly flavorful. It was tender though. Overall a perfectly decent meal for your Korean fix in Paris.
